Does anybody know if you can still make money from ebooks, I've seen other posts but they were pretty old. Does anybody still make money from them now?

The Kindle platform is still going strong. But you do have to do some research on your topic and your own marketing. I don't think it's as easy as it was a few years ago.

Many people say they prefer videos but I personally still want a book. I don't think I'm the only one but I may be in a minority.

I still write a lot of ebooks for clients so they must be selling them somewhere. Or using them for opt-in incentives.

Sure - I still sell ebooks in 4 different niches, some on Clickbank, others using E-Junkie and selling them from my own site. Ebooks should just be part of your overall product strategy though...good to also have an audio version, blow out a video series and back-end that with augmented content (either course, membership program, private coaching program, etc...)

I'm still writing books for clients so there is still a market but I don't know how big it is as it's not actually my issue.

An ebook is a delivery method, so you tell us, can your traffic download or open an ebook?

The answer to your question is yes, people buy ebooks in 2017.

Ebook is just a format of giving information.

    Ask these questions

"Is there a demand for the information inside the ebook?"
"Does your information solve anyone's problem? ( if its a desperate problem, better will be your sales)
"Can I reach my audience through internet?"
"Is my audience ready to pay for the knowledge? "(eg: golfers- great market
high school kids - poor market)

IF you get "YES" to these questions, you can make money with ebooks(Assuming that you have the right marketing skills )

    Thanks

I have been doing it for over 10 years never had a problem , the easy way is to buy some PLR product that has a website included,

The just put up the site with a cheap domain but remember to change the name of the person in the sales page you can do that in Kompozer its free and lots of tutorials on You Tube if you get lost
and have some fun just try things then you can work out what works what doesn't its the best way to learn

There'll always be money to made with Ebooks. The only thing that matters is if what you're selling in the Ebooks contain enough value for the people you're targeting.

As with anything you sell online you have to focus on value first. Focusing on value first is what allows you to make money.

Ebooks are still good and if you're on Kindle, you can still make good money selling them. Find out what is selling right now. After you've done this you need to create good books.

When you know what's selling and you have the ability to write good content you'll always be able to make money from Ebooks.

Anytime you hear random people online say "this or that doesn't work anymore" you should take the comment with a grain of salt.

Who are they? What is their experience? How can you know that they speak with any authority or even credibility?

If consumers are still looking for information, ebooks will continue to sell.

No doubt you can, Kindle is huge and is basically an eBook store but with the power of Amazon behind it. That said I think the best way is to give the ebook away and have sales from the backend of it.

Thanks Daniel. I do have a bit of an idea. I have a few of my own books that are started but as I'm usually busy working for others, I haven't had a lot of time to work on them. I'm moving house soon and once settled, I plan on doing that. I have a few friends in a writers' group and we discuss all that sort of thing. So thanks for the tip.

    yes, but ...

both kindle or your own platform could make you lots of profit by selling good ebooks.

you should also think outside the box, a $3 or $7 ebook may not making lots of money, you can use the ebook to upsell your extra service.

    for example:
    1. cooking books, you may offer a membership site with daily update of fresh receipt.
    2. seo books, you may sell your video course to a much higher value problem altogether.

Sure, you can make a lot of money with eBooks.

I know that the copywriter Bob Bly has written and co-written hundreds.

However, Bob is a workaholic. He has made audio courses, video courses, and published 98 books. (When I say published, I mean regular published - through a company.)

Bob is also great at marketing his products. He buys domains for each sales page and then writes the copy himself. That's because he's one of the top copywriters out there.

Here's an example of one of those pages:

    Fundraising Copywriter

I get email copy regularly from Bob, and every other email I receive is promoting his product using copywriting techniques.

Bob, doesn't write crap. either. Every single product he sells is "spot-on" and he usually sells his products for about $30 a shot.

So yeah, you can make pretty good money writing eBooks and other similar products. However, you are going to have to write high-quality stuff that separates yourself from the rest of the pack.

And that means you are going to have to W-O-R-K at your craft hard.

I hope this helps you on your quest to be an eBook producer.

Problem with books and ebooks in general, we are in a dummy phone generation now, very few have the ability to read and comprehend, so video is the new ebook.

Ask people under 30 the last book or ebook/kindle they read, and you'll have a hard time finding anyone that bought a book under 30.

As soon as they leave school, they stop reading

Ask any kid under 30 these questions and you will see how ignorant they are

      1. What country did the USA go to war with for their independence?

      2. What year was the Declaration of Independence signed?

      3. Name 3 of the founding fathers of the USA.

Most people under 30 cannot answer those simple questions, they are clueless.

Most people cannot name the current Vice President.

Most people cannot name the presidents who were in office during their lifetime.

Most people can't find 90% of the states in the USA on a map.

Most americans are clueless about world geography.

Now when kids are forced to do it in school they might read some YA, then they stop.

All you have to do is try to talk to kids under 30 and you see how Google has made them zombies, they are walking clueless zombies that think they have to know nothing since google has the answer.

Just my observations from life, it's truly sad how dumb this generation has become.

I'm not arguing with you in general. Maybe the majority don't read.

I know in the last two years my 23 year old daughter has read:

    The Hunger Games

    The Game of Thrones series

Quite a few of Sarah Maas

    And many others.

    Her friends read the same.

Not great literature, I agree, but they do read. None of it was read for school.

    Perhaps they are the exceptions.

Probably my son and daughter and their friends are smarter than the rest of the under 30 crowd! (I'm not bias at all They could answer the questions you posed.

We may be on our way to the movie "Idiocracy." But I don't think we're quite there yet.

I would say Yes. You can always make some money with digital books.

I recently finished a valuable ebook in my niche and it's already doing well with my audience.

Just be very smart about your marketing plan.

Absolutely! A lot of people like to read more than watching videos or hearing podcast.

Just try to keep the content interesting and enticing enough for people to keep the motivation to read it to the end.

I think so, yes. I personally prefer ebooks rather than videos because I can bookmark it and read at a later time. Videos for me are time-consuming and I don't have the patience to find a certain scene where I stopped watching. For me it takes all of your attention, not to mention precious time. For as long as there'll be bookworms, there will still be ebooks though I'm not totally sure if it's still as booming as it was before. I somehow sensed a decline in this market due to the advent of video tutorials/vlogging.

Maybe if you write a book a week for months and months, you know short books on good topics in the non fiction department.

You will make some money but unless you put out a bunch it won't add to much.

What type of ebooks are you asking about?

Ebooks are still viable products in non-fiction niches...even at higher prices like those sold thru Clickbank.

You can still do well selling on Kindle as well. But you're going to need to produce high quality content, wrapping up PLR and slapping it up on Amazon won't work.

I have a few non-fiction titles that do well. Some under this name...and several others under a pen name.

As far as fiction goes, there is plenty of money to be made. A friend of mine runs a little publishing business where ghostwriters do all the writing for him in 2 or 3 niches.

He studies the markets, researches what his audiences want, edits the books, formats them, does the covers, and runs the marketing side of things. He's making 5 figures most months....with much of the income coming from PageReads in the KDP Select program.

Y'all keep believing that. I'll stick to the percentage that are still using their brains for more than keeping their ears apart.

As for "making money from ebooks", most of you are focusing on either creating them as ghostwriters or selling them.

They can be used for much more...

    > They can be excellent for building email lists, to whom you can sell other things.

    > They can be used as tripwire products for things like membership sites, courses and coaching.

    > They can be used to establish the image of expertise and authority for coaches, consultants, public speakers, etc.

    > They can be used to generate invitations for guest appearances on niche blogs, podcasts, video channels, etc.

Yes, the days of scraping a public domain site and slapping the results on Kindle, or writing crappy filler and slapping it on Kindle, etc. are dead and gone. But there is still money to be made.

To me, the question isn't "do eBooks sell?" The question is, "at what price point are eBooks selling?"

I seem to recall eBooks beings the standard 10 years or so ago. It wasn't uncommon for me to spend $47 or more on an eBook.

Now this is purely speculation, but I think their value has diminished over recent years as the Kindle and Amazon have taken over with 99 cent eBooks.

I still prefer eBooks to video, audio or other formats, but if I see one at $27 now I cringe.
