Are You Hacking Your Internet Marketing Business to Death?

I have read a slew of blog posts over the years which are heavily focused on hacks.

Many of these bloggers and internet marketers are offering the quickest, most simple way to get as much as ya can from a minimum number of actions.

Nothing wrong with that at all....unless, you are desperately grabbing at these hacks, trying like Hades to end their misery, failure or struggles.

These Hack Posts tend to appeal to desperate and/or greedy internet marketers who hop from alleged quick fix to quick fix, literally hacking their internet marketing business to death because they are overlooking the core fundamentals.

1: Practice a problem solving skill daily.

2: Solve problems by creating free content and premium content.

3: Build your friend network by helping out influential entrepreneurs in your niche.

It's all about the energy behind you wanting to use hacks. If you are fearful, you just wanna squeeze as much juice from a single Facebook Post by obsessing over every single detail of the post, trying to manipulate people into getting them to Like your update or click your link....versus doing the legwork of being a generous contributor on Facebook Groups aligned with your niche, sharing your friend's content on your wall, Liking other updates and commenting on other updates.

This is just one example.

I hacked a few old blogs and businesses to death. Lesson learned. Now I stick to the fundamentals, patiently, and have seen significant gains with my blog and online businesses by not obsessing over the best technique or quickest strategy or any of silly hacks, but by practicing a few skills, helping folks for free and pay, promoting successful bloggers and enjoying the ride.

Hacks may help you short term but long term you still have to build a business that solves someone's problem somewhere, a problem big enough for these people to want to pay for you to solve it.

This has been my experience too. Hacks are like a temporary fix, something you can do, for some leveraging. Beyond that, I needed to go deeper to build something sustainable.

I agree with you Ryan. So many 'modern' marketers/newbies obsess over hacking growth in the shortest time possible, and forget the other fundamentals. Everyone wants the quickest ways to get results, perhaps that is why business is booming for many internet gurus.

All the successful people that I have ever met across all fields achieved their success by practising the fundamental tasks over an extended time. It's hard work man, there may be shortcuts here and there, but such shortcuts are not a long-term solution for a sustainable growth.

Bingo. Fear feeds impatience, and even if some IMers see glowing success quickly, it tends to come with strong resistance - heavy criticism, lots of problems, etc - because if fear was your driver, to engage in heavy hacking, the results you get will give you some reasons to be fearful too.

Some promoters would do the right stuff and do them the right way i just think some people or companies work much faster . think about it ,if you build a team and they all go for the same goal and work towards the same concept using "promotion" templates that they made to begin with ... and here you go ,fast ,good quality results. competition is growing and maybe it's professionalize to where it's partially automated for them

Having a team working toward a similar version is one form of leveraging, for sure.

A lot of marketers are capitalizing on this BIG TIME by creating "miracle" software that is supposed to "explode your list overnight" or "double your affiliate commissions in the next 48 hours," etc. I particularly like the ones that say they will double or triple your affiliate commissions. I always think about all of the people who have never made an affiliate commission who can't wait to grab it up. I wonder if they realize that if they haven't made one affiliate commission then it doesn't matter if the software can double or triple it because "2 X 0" is still
    ZERO!

I also see a TON of "autopilot" Amazon site/store builder software and "autopilot" video site builders or miracle traffic generation software launching every week.

I can't tell you how many of them I've test driven (just for the hell of it because I can get review copies whenever I want) and, well, I'll just put it this way:

There is no substitute for good old HARD WORK!

And don't even get me started on all of the software that claims to "create amazing content with the click of a mouse." What a JOKE! If you consider "amazing" content to be a jumbled mess with no clear direction, loads of punctuation errors, and duplicate and plagiarized content, then, yeah, it's "amazing' I guess.

This is like the mirror effect; the entrepreneurs who create such products do it from an energy or fear, manifest as desperation or greed, which appeals to other fearful folks, who gobble it up from an energy of desperation or greed, and the buyers see smoke and mirrors cannot build a sustainable business, while the sellers lose virtually all return customers, save the terribly desperate or piggishly greedy.

Smart, energetic, persistent work wins guys. I cannot tell you how many folks say they see me everywhere, but in truth, I spend 20 to 30 minutes or Warrior, then Quora, then dive into my blogging activities with some social media mixed in. Just persistence, and I keep growing my blog and business thru the good old fashioned work you speak of.

    True!

But unfortunately most people who come online still believe that there is some 'secret' sauce...one bloody strategy that can bring them everlasting success and money that spits through their computer.

People think that just because something is online that the same rules to success in any other industry don't apply.

Some marketers know this and will keep selling broken promises to the lazy and the ignorant.

Good note about the lazy and ignorant Rory. They keep this hack-obsessive niche alive and well LOL.

  • I have found that they articles with Hacks in the title is a good way to get visitors to read your post. However, when I get there and read what they have written I'm disappointed.

Me too C Some offer decent advice but there is a heavy energy of manipulation, which comes of course from a heavy energy of fear. Not a good look.

Exactly; so tough to build a sustainable, long term business with this approach.

Ryan, I think the word "hack" has been *******ized until it has no real meaning.

Think back to the days when the Apple II was state of the art. Back then, "hacking" meant taking what currently existed and making it work better. Current day hacks that do the same thing are worth investigating.

I coded my first website by hand using Notepad. One of the hacks I adopted was starting with pre-made templates I could use for multiple projects without having to start from scratch every time.

Contrast that with the gimmicky crap you (and others) describe. Those aren't hacks, they are gimmicky shiny objects that distract rather than improve or enhance. Being addicted to those will kill most businesses.

This is so true. I remember back when I started I did the same thing. WordPress was around but not near as popular as it is today. People were mostly using static HTML sites, and those who had nice WordPress blogs were considered "cutting edge."

I'll still buy software today but mostly if it is something that is going to be a big time saver for me. For instance, I like software that creates squeeze pages, sales funnels, graphics, etc.

As far as all of the "miracle" traffic generation and "push button" content generation software out there, 99.9% CRAP. Don't waste your time and money.

Some of the video creation stuff is OK, but I find that you can find a lot of free editors that do the same exact thing (such as VSDC and DaVinci Resolve). Heck, you can do a lot of the animated stuff with PowerPoint if you take the time to learn.

God bless you John for having the patience to hand code a website using Notepad

Good points here. I have seen many folks mis-use the word as a manipulative ploy to appeal to impatient people, versus framing it as a an effective way to streamline a process. Really depends on the energy behind the message and the energy of the folks seizing the message too.
