I created a 30 second video using animoto - which I love! I just used images and text.

Then Animoto uploaded it to Youtube.

After it was upload to youtube, you have the option of making it a "promoted video" and you can set the amount that you want to spend. I was told not to pay more than .10 per click until I know that the campaign is working, so I settled on $60/month.

Then, I edited my video to include text and a landing page if they click on the text.

This little video is showing up as a promoted video anytime somebody searches for the keywords "gluten free baking"....well, it shows not every time but a proportionate number of times for my budget.

Several people are signing up every day. I haven't had huge numbers of traffic, but i've had about 180 view in a few days.

Could you have gotten your video to rank on YouTube for that keyword with some basic link building? Most people don't link to their YouTube videos. Maybe you don't have to pay them for that keyword.

Just a thought. If what you're doing is producing a positive ROI, then stick with it.

I'm pretty happy. The reason I'm surprised is because of two things...

I have adsense on both my blogs and I'm making very little money with them. After I figured out that my monthly search for my keywords is only 22,000, then no wonder I'm not making any money since adsense only pays in costs per thousand....

I'm also extremely disappointed in Amazon. I've had amazon carousels and now an amazon store up, and I've only had 25 clicks TOTAL. I've been online since June. gluten-free-chocolate is #1 for my main keywords and on the first page for several others, and tube pan is on page 1 just because of the google honeymoon. So, I should be getting more out of amazon, but I'm not.

So that's why I'm happy with youtube.

God luck with your YouTube campaign.

I don't want to hijack your thread...but what do you mean by AdSense only pays in cost per thousand?

I am about to embark on my first IM business model, using Xfactors AdSense strategy, and as I understand it, AdSense is paid out via CPC (albeit a small percentage of the Adword cost.) I know about smart pricing, but costs per thousands?

here's what bums me out about adsense:

          Effective CPM

          Print
Effective cost-per-thousand impressions (eCPM) is a useful way to compare revenue across different channels and advertising programs. Essentially, effective CPM represents your estimated earnings for every 1000 impressions you receive.

Effective CPM doesn't represent how much you have actually earned -- rather, it's calculated by dividing your earnings by the number of page impressions, then multiplying by 1000. For example, if you earned $0.15 from 25 page impressions, then your eCPM would equal ($0.15/25)*1000, or $6.00. If you earned $180 from 45,000 impressions, your effective CPM would equal ($180/45,000)*1000, or $4.00.

thanks for all the info. I'll keep trying different things. I'm absolutely swimming uptide in a huge market - something like $8 billion - so getting attention is very difficult. Everybody thinks that they already have all the answers. I've actually emailed the top bloggers in my niche and none of them have gotten back to me. The only SMART guy in the bunch is the one that runs the top celiac site and he got back to me.

10 cents per click to your video? What percentage of those click through to your site? What's your cost per visitor to you site?
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[1233145].message }}
    • Profile picture of the author pbennett
i don't think I'll know the actual cost until after the campaign is over. I signed up for just $60. Here's what they say:

The Promoted Videos program is built on the AdWords auction system. You can set the maximum price you're willing to pay per click (your maximum cost-per-click) and tell us how much you want to spend total per day (your daily budget). Then you can create your promotions for your videos or channel and we'll run them on YouTube site. They'll appear either above or next to YouTube search results.

So it's a cost per click, not click through. So, I think I'm spending $2 a day and I'm getting about 4-5 people to sign up per day, so that's about 50 cents per signup.

      Is that tooo much???

this is preselling my book....or not...

In other words, I have released my research for comments. This research is soooooooooooooooooo foreign to my market that when I comment on blogs, nobody believes me! So, depending on what the results are from this newsletter campaign (where they receive a partial release of the research), I will decide whether to move forward with publishing a book. This method that I discovered works. It just takes a little more time. I have two problems to overcome:

      1. Nobody believes me.
      2. The process looks complicated and takes more time.
The process is easy, but it does take more time.

So, anyway i won't know what my return on investment is for a while.

It's good to test these things. Remember thay you will need to look at the overall picture, i.e how many of those freebie seekers turned into buyers. Still, if you get them onto your list and you provide good content, it should be fine.

Like Ron said though, next time might be worth seeing if you can get your video ranking naturally, then your profit would be 100% everytime. You might also want to look for a video in your niche which is getting tons of hits, and then post your video as a repose, you can then piggy back on their views.

My own personal YouTube marketing model is to use 1-cent clicks on the videos to drive views and comments and ratings initially, then once the video ranks at the top of the search for my keywords, I turn off the paid clicks and the momentum keeps the ball rolling...

I always just stick to paying 1 cent per click for my videos on YouTube. Also, do you have the commercial license for Animoto? Using the free version to make commercial videos violates the Animoto TOS.

I've never thought of using "promoted video" on YouTube.
    Thanks for sharing that.

Just to help you a little bit more, if you search popular videos
and take their tags and add them to your description, that's
    going to help you tremendously.

I've used that method and in 3 days or so, over 600 people
    viewed my video.

    Powerful tactic, isn't it?

    Hi Pbennett
Youtube certainly works.Previously I was only using article marketing to generate traffic but a few months ago I came to know about this tool which converts articles into live talking videos. It also submits them to 10+ top video sites(Including Youtube,Metacafe and Dailymotion). They have 14 days of free trial so I decided to use them.

I converted all of my articles at EZA and goarticles into videos and I was shocked to know the results. My traffic was tripled within one month.

Here I would like to share some of the tricks which are working for me:
1)type the name of your niche in the Google search and you'll be presented with top ranked videos.

2)Copy the URL of the video and paste it in Youtube's FREE keyword tool
    https://ads.youtube.com/keyword_tool
you'll be presented with a long list of related keywords.copy-paste them in a notepad.

3)Create your video with "Animoto" or convert your articles to videos with:
Turn any article to video with animation, music, graphics, and a full voice-over for just $1!

4)Make the title of your video similar to the popular ones in your niche(This is very crucial and works better than keyword optimization.Making your title similar to the popular ones will make your videos showing just after them. This way you'll get tons of targeted traffic. But don't exactly copy the titles)
5)Enter your keywords(You have saved in a notepad) into description and tagging.

6)Submit them to top video sites using "TubeMogul" or "ArticleVideoRobot"(If you are using it).

7)Just start counting the hits(You'll be amazed at the numbers)

I have been using these strategies for the past few months and my results have been phenomenal.Apply them today itself. This method is instant traffic generator. There is no reason to fail.

It`s very useful tool , many business use it.I think that`s due to its popularity.

Here i found the tips for marketing over youtube that may benefit you.

      1. Focus on something fun, something that people will want to share with friends.
      2. Clearly demonstrate the product you're marketing.
      3. Make sure the video is real; no tricks, no "smoke and mirrors."
      4. Encourage viewer participation and support, i.e. -- "make your own video like ours."
      5. Take advantage of YouTube tags; use adjectives to target people searching based on mood; and match your title and description to the tags.
      6. Experiment!

      Best of luck

      Regards..

Couple of quick questions on this, I've never played with YT to any degree but in point 5 you say to take the keywords from the search tool and insert them into the tagging area, does Youtube not have a limit of some kind or can you take unique keywords/phrases from say the top 5 videos in your niche and paste them all in ?

Secondly in point 7, you say , start counting the hits, how are you determining which videos etc your hits are coming from ?

Kudos for TAKING ACTION and double kudos for sharing your results!

I'd like to offer some simple but quick suggestions that may help you.

    1. I notice your videos are posted in "Category: Film & Animation"
I'm sure there's a more appropriate category for your niche. Even "how to" would be better.

    2. Submitting directly to tube through animoto leaves a link promoting animoto right after your website link. This is distracting and may divert clicks to their site. I'd suggest manually logging into your tube accnt and removing thierr link.

Simple but small changes can help.

Excellent feedback and ideas posted from other Warriors here as well!

      Here's one more tip...

Go to the channels of "famous" people in your niche and post a comment on their channel. This does not only increase your visibility, the backlink you generate from their channel to your channel site is a "do follow" backlink (unlike comments to videos, which are "nofollow" links)! That's very good for SEO...
