Good WP Theme for a City/Travel Site?

I have the exact domain of a capital city in the .net extension, and want to develop it out further.

Can anyone recommend any good city/travel themes for Wordpress? I already have a membership for Thesis and Elegant Themes and can pick one from there, but would like to see what fellow warriors feel is a good city/travel them.

Also, how would you recommend incorporating a local directory/yellow pages in a wordpress site?
#city or travel #good #site #theme

There are lots of WordPress theme sites at the bottom of this article:

There may be a suitable one there...

    Cheers,

You may want to look into Studiopress' (Brian Gardner's) Metro theme. It kind of depends on what type of City/Travel site you are wanting to build and whether you are trying to cater to tourists or locals. That will help you determine what kind of style and layout you're looking for.

The Metro theme would be good either way though.

  • I like Elegant themes but I haven't seen anything suitable for what you want on their site.

I'd suggest looking at News Themes... and then modifying the colors and logos. They let you do a lot more on a bigger scale.

Brian Gardner used to have a city theme (Revolution City), but he didn't migrate it when he created StudioPress. His current Metro Theme is okay. But I am not a fan of the featured content plugin he likes to design around. Just my view.

There are a couple of Themes at Woo Themes you might want to check out.

thanks guys. I'll be looking at StudioPress. I've honestly thought their designs too staid and repetitive for most blogs, but can see their utility for a city guide site.

Woo themes has some great looking themes, but IMO, not all of them are very practical.

I have made a hundred (give or take) travel sites using StudioPress themes. I use their Lifestyle theme for the most part and sometimes their Church theme. (Oh, and 1 or 2 with the Allure theme)

I can send you a few examples of how they can look when slightly customized if you want.
