I've been promoting affiliate / CPA offers for over 16 years.

Below is basically how I do it. However, as you will see, I do things quite differently than most.

I heavily promote PPL (pay per lead...lead generation) offers. This is because there is no credit card / purchase required to complete an offer. All a user has to do is fill out a form, so conversion rates are typically much higher compared to offers that require a sale to be made.

I favor offers that have a make, get or save money benefit to them, as they have overall worked the best. They also tend to have the greatest mass appeal (will be of interest to a large general audience), so the potential exists to produce high volume and they are fairly easy to cross promote on the back-end.

Some of the verticals (niches) I have done extremely well with are: education, insurance, loans, debt, credit, mortgage, assistance, discount offers, homeowner offers, etc...

The bulk of the offers that I promote pay $20-$40 per lead, but I also promote offers that pay more and less. You don't want to get too caught up on what an offer pays because how well it converts is just as important. For example, if you have an offer that pays $9, but if it converts at 2X or more of a $20 offer, then it will perform about the same or possibly better. At the same time, if you have an offer that pays $90 and it converts poorly, it may not even be worth promoting.

Bottom line: it's far easier to get someone fill out a short form than to get them to pull out their credit card and make a purchase. So why struggle with trying to sell this or that, when you can provide free information that users want/need and get paid well doing it.

I drive traffic to the offers by acquiring 3rd party email data, which is data that the users have shown an interest in a specific vertical(niche) and have given permission to receive messages from third parties. You get the opt-in record for every user and it's 100% can-spam compliant.

By acquiring data instead of buying traffic, I'm building assets that I then own and can market to over and over at very low cost. So I control and can drive traffic on-demand to the offers I'm promoting.

You can also acquire what is call rev-share data (revenue-sharing). Which is 3rd party data as I mentioned above, except you get it for $0 upfront costs. You then split the revenue generated from sending it, with the data provider. So you are only paying for data(leads) that convert. This is a way to start for those with tighter budgets.

So for example, if I'm getting data for life insurance, I then send a life insurance PPL offer. If I'm getting education data, I send an education PPL offer. So I'm just matching the vertical to a relevant PPL offer on the front-end. In addition, I'm always collecting my opens / clickers, segmenting and removing unresponsive users. So I'm essentially converting the data from quantity to quality and then cross promote offers on the back-end to the most responsive users.

Basically, I monetize the data using PPL offers because they offer the path of least resistance to generating conversions($$$) and converting the data into cash producing assets.

Obviously, there is more to it, but done right it can be extremely profitable. Everyone that I know that is in the business and knows what they are doing, for the most part, does 6-7 figures. While that's a huge range, much comes down to one's ability to scale and effectively build / manage the infrastructure needed to scale.

    Something to think about.

Where is the best place to buy third party email data. I'm new to buying lists, and I don't want to end up with a complaint filing uninterested list.

    No tricks.

Success in this industry actually takes a lot longer than in ANY other industry.

    Do you know why?

Because most people believe (including me when I was new) that the laws of Success that apply to any other industry...work hard, pay your dues, give value, be consistent, have a long term plan and especially...a determined mindset!.

    So in a nutshell...

The great majority can spend years and years looking for secrets and tricks.

Then after years of failure, they (3%) come to a realization...and then finally go to work!

    The other 97%?

They'll just keep trying the same ole tricks expecting their circumstances to just change.

    Isn't this an insane idea?

Not sure about that... Although I did alot of "offline" prior to becoming successful on the internet... I had "internet" success happen virtually overnight. You have to get the right message in front of the right people, and deliver it with passion and conviction; then, there is literally no viable reason for it not to happen in that "very" moment... For some it may take a while to find that message, and get to that moment... but it doesnt always happen incrementally. In my experience, if it stumbles out of the gate, usually , it's not going to blow up and be big... But if it blows up out of the gate, then you have something. Doesn't always go the way I'm saying, but there is certainly no fast rule that it has to take a long time either.

The best strategy I see on this thread, and the only real useful post is Diablo's.

The rest , IMO, is just philosophy and rehashed generalizations.

Well they are not such great tricks its about experience and failures .With time will you discover wgat you do wrong annd you will get better etc .Also a smart thinng to do its to build a email list from begining ,why because having one its gives you traffic when you want .If you dont have an email list you must work hard for free traffic or you must buy traffic .Free traffic it cost you time and efort and paid traffic it costs you money and its risky .Email marketing helps you avoiding this ,thats way its email marketing so important

As the saying goes, "the money is in the list". That is the best way for an Affiliate Marketer to make it big. List building will however take some effort, if you buy traffic, it is best to send your traffic to an optin page first (with a free offer etc) before sending them directly to an affiliate offer. This way yopu can build a list faster.

I had success by offering helpful content in a niche I felt passionate about. I built up my readership. My readers enjoyed the free content I shared with them so they bought my affiliate offers. Simple process. But it takes months to years of persistent, daily practice to hone the skill of being an affiliate marketer. Success responds well to skilled marketers, and skilled marketers study and practice their craft for years, to pay their dues, to learn their niche, and to steadily earn increasing profits through their niche.

Automate your traffic as soon a possible by ordering traffic using solo ads.
Send out 2 emails per day using the talk radio method which uses A.M. value-based stories then P.M. pitch or selling.
Hosting Facebook lives weekly. Teach and give value. Follow the method of "Learn, Do, Teach" and make sure to have a Call to Action at the end of every piece of content.
Perform list management by cleaning your email list every 30 days. Send them to a "win back" campaign to drive opens.
Write one or two blog post every week. Leverage your Facebook live videos on your blog or YouTube channel
Reward your subscribers by sending them your "Best of Content"
Bonus and Offer creation. Spend time tweaking your bonuses. Test your new bonuses out by sending them to your list as a Fire Sale or Flash Sale.
Hosting weekly or bi-weekly webinars. Promote your webinars to your list, Facebook followings and others.
Team engagement. Engage with your buyers with different content than you send your list.
Consult funnel. Sending out your Consult funnel to your list at the beginning of the month, middle, and towards the end of the month. Add your consult funnel link to every email PS line.
    Be consistent.

It`s not all about work hard, is about working smart.
Focus on education and practice. Most people fail online because they simply try to figure out everything, they get overwhelmed, and consequently, don`t see results and quit.

If you want to be a successful affiliate marketer focus on providing value to your target market on a daily basis (or at least a few times per week).

Focus, consistency & hard work are a few other entrepreneurial traits you'll need to develop if you plan on building a sustainable business that generates income year after year.

To an extent, it depends upon the niche. For example, I've been in the internet marketing/MMO niche for over 20 years. In that niche today, you're often selling the exact same product as dozens (sometimes hundreds) of others selling the same product. At that point, the product that you're selling is largely a commodity. In that case you need to find a way to differentiate yourself. Since your subscribers will often by on numerous lists, they will often "bonus shop" so you need to offer really desirable bonuses.

Getting known, and establishing yourself makes it easier to make sales. There people are buying from you because they know, like and trust you.

I'm also in other niches (mostly consumer) where people often buy from those that they look up to and whom they feel have added value to their lives.

People like to buy from friends, and they like to buy from people whom they feel genuinely care about them. So, you often need to develop "friendships" with your audience, and you need to always offer them quality products that they actually need.
