Which Option is Better for Direct Forum Traffic?

I will promote my site through forums, respond to forum threads and drop relevant links in a natural way (never spam).

Which option is better for direct forum traffic? No SEO

1) Answering NEW forum thread: Act fast, if I can potentially be the first people to respond, my comment must appear at the START of the thread , which will attract more clicks.

2) Answering POPULAR forum thread: usually popular thread had many comment pages, according to the date/time of the comment, my comment will appear at the END of the thread , However popular forum thread always had several thousand views.

    The correct answer is:

    3) Answer threads where you have something valuable to contribute without worrying about either recency or popularity.

Although you say you don't intend to spam, people will notice that the only time you post is when you can be first or if the thread is hot. Especially if you intend to hit and run with a single post so you can move on to your real agenda - dropping links rather than participating in a conversation.

There's an unnamed member here who shows up in every thread related to what they offer, and they post the same copy/paste reply in every thread. Pretty obvious footprint, eh?

I should add that this member gets away with it because the post does offer some value and is always posted in relevant threads, unless you've seen it a hundred times already. That's when the forum version of "banner blindness" kicks in and people start ignoring you.

Follow 1) or 2) and you'll find yourself in the same box.

Who ever told you to come over to Warrior and you will get tons of traffic and even knock over sales...lied.

Replying to threads just for traffic usually results in very little traffic.

I see a lot of new marketers who keep regurgitating what they think people want to hear just to get people to click on their sigs.

But people can tell when you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about (even the other newbies will know).

    There's a better way...

Naturally add value to ONLY stuff that you really know about.

If I see a thread that I know nothing about, I will just avoid it entirely.

I was havinf the same purpose in the past ,but now i concluded that its best to choose threads where i can learn something and i respond if i can deliver a value question not a stupid phrase only to have a post there .Asking your question i think its better to search new threads but the main important think its to add some value when you respond not only a short answer for people to see your signature .Hope it helps

Back when I joined in 2008 you had a lot more traffic and there were people making a few hundred a day and more thru products offered in Sig.

But anymore it is just a slight trickle. And not really worth the time to heavily concentrate on it,imo

remember paid traffic faster, but costs money.

Free traffic takes your time in your day, you cannot get back.

That's right. Two of the behaviors most likely to get you quickly dismissed as a spammer.

    Great plan!

I think you win much dollars!

Find out relevant forums with the relevant topic, you can search those forums in Google with good amount of relevant traffic. Relevancy matters the most for direct forum traffic.
