INTERNET MARKETING

This is an area I need to improve on.

Do I offer them free stuff? What kind of free stuff?

Give them surveys? Really? Not very exciting is it?

Hmm what else?

Any tips?

When you get people on your list, send them more valuable information over time and less promotions.I do this by emailing them once every 3 days or so, every time I have made a new blog post.I put the first paragraph of the blog post in the email and then the link to my blog where they can read the rest.(This creates repeat visitors to my blog.)

Give them a valuable free offer to start off with, and then keep giving them good advice and help along the way so that you add real value to them.

It's your list, so ask yourself some questions:

Why are they on your list? Did they just want the freebie?

What promise did you make to them when they signed up?

Your list, whether small or large, is made up of PEOPLE. Real people, with real hopes and dreams, and you made a promise to them when they signed up. That promise was either explicit, or implied...

So since you made a promise, keep it. Deliver on the promise.

What I learned from John Reese was he "warmed" the list
for a WHOLE year before he sold anything to them.

If you genuinely care about your subscribers' online success,
you'll know what to do.

Yeah, that may be good for someone already banking 500K a month

But I wouldn't advise it for the guy who is trying to cover the cost of his monthly Aweber Account !!

And I find posting regularly your own articles of your "secrets"
on your own blog and send them to that posts works best
instead of sending them free PDFs again and again.

(No one really has time to download PDF if it's FREE and you get
that everyday or every other day...)

One thing to bear in mind though, people are more likely to open your emails and take offers when they have just signed up. So yes, give them good, free content, but don't leave it tooooo long before you promote something. If you are creating your own prodcts, then it can be wise to generally promote your own stuff rather than every body elses stuff that comes along. Sometimes you should also warn them of stuff they shouldn't buy, so they trust you more and basically see you as a friend looking out for them.

As for content, you can also send a variety of formats, so not just ebooks but short reports, podcasts, articles, videos etc.
