Stuck In The Niche Mud-Choosing where to start first.

Here are 2 Niches I'm interested in that appear to have somewhat of a demand.

1.Vegan Diet
2.Public Speaking (overcoming fear of, how to etc...)

I'm interested in both and I think I've done my homework correctly. I feel like I can develop both my own products around both of them and there are affiliate programs available I can promote, especially in the speaking arena.

With the vegan niche, I'm challenged to see how I can monetize it. I'm actually Vegan and know a lot about it topic and am passionate in the area. It seems there are mostly cookbooks and vitamins for sale. Also there is the "vegan diet" angle. It seems as though the transformation isn't super clear for me and many solutions (recipes etc) can be easily googled or purchased in a book.

Public speaking issues are always around as it is a huge fear for many. I aspire to be a keynote speaker and would love to help people, as I help myself.

My challenge is getting started. Not sure which to start with, if any.

I WISH I had fewer interest, I feel like a kid in the candy store not know what to niche to pick because I'm interested and capable at many, at least I've convinced myself of this.

I'm 100% open to opinions and feed back. I'm new to the community and look forward to serving in whatever capacity I can in the future.

    Well, if you know you can profit from public speaking then your question is already answered.

    With the vegan niche, get some profits from the public speaking niche then start a vegan site with recipes and whatnot. check out a site called pinchofyum They are a cooking site but they also tell you how to set up a nice food site. use them as a springboard for your vegan site. They also post monthly income reports so you can see how they are monetizing the site

    You need to get over this mindset If you want to make money.

    There's tons of money to be made in any niche that already has free alternatives.

    Sell what you know.

    You could even combine both niches, talk to the public about vegan diets. Create a product and sell it...

    The only issue is both niches are competitive. And, there is a lot of free information on the internet.

    There are two things you can do (I'm revealing this according to my experience, as I've many clients).

    1 - Be More Specific. For example, create website around vegan diet for pregnant women, vegan diet for children, or vegan diet for diabetic people (I don't know much about this niche, but just be more specific). Similarly, you can opt for 'public speaking for new managers', public speaking for shy students, teachers, and et cetera.

    2 - Provide FREE Extraordinary Content. But, promote physical products through Amazon for making money. For example, if you are in diet niche, you can promote products like fitness machines, and etc.

    My clients often use these strategies. And, I know they're successful. That's why, they deal with me each month.

      Those aren't issues, they're illusions.

      How many grocery stores have you visited in your lifetime, dozens? That's the way people shop online, nobody only shops at one source even in the same niche.

      You're holding yourself back from earning money online.

    You haven't gotten to a point where you can make a decision. You still have homework to do.

    All business depends on having products and/or services that people are willing to buy. Until you identify what people are willing to buy, you just have an idea.

    Personally, I like to reverse engineer it. I start with the question "how much money do I want to make?" Then work backwards from there. I assume that most people here would say they want to make a full-time income working online. So, let's call it $100,000.

    What in the vegan niche or the public speaking niche (or any of your other interests) gets you to $100,000 (or your ideal income) with the least amount of resistance?

    I seem to be a bit different than other people here because I'm excited by big, competitive markets worth billions of dollars. I look for popular products/brands and then look for way to do it better and/or cheaper. If I can find that, then I study the crap out of the product/brand to see where they're marketing, who they're marketing to, and develop a plan to introduce my product/brand.

    Other people will say it's good to be the king of a much smaller niche like "bird house plans", for example. Which is probably a good idea if you're a solo-prenuer. I tend to think businesses like these are easier to get whacked, but just my opinion. I know quite a few people making a nice income from small scale niches and sites.

    My advice is that if you can't even think of or find a way to make money in a potential niche, move on to the next one.

    which one do you like better? just that little edge might make it easier...

    start blogging and/or creating content in both....soon you will begin to gravitate to one or the other....

    I mean if you can make some vegan food taste good..then guess what you got a ton of customers...lol....

    if you do go public speaking...think about not just public speaking before large groups...but also smaller groups...there is a lot of speaking in business to 3 or 4..and if you know how to talk to 3 or 4 in a small business group it can open many doors..especially if them 3 or 4 are the right people...

    at any rate...those are two good niches....start creating content(blog, podcast, video, etc) and see which one you gravitate to....

      This isn't as funny as it sounds. If you can make vegan food appealing to card-carrying carnivores like me, you may not convert us, but you might make the case for the occasional meatless meal.

      Another way you could take this is targeting restaurants and bars that serve food. Teaching them how to have a few vegan selections on their menus could be worth more to them than to your run of the mill cook.

      I know you said you aspire to be a keynote speaker, but many of the same skills are involved in speaking to smaller groups. Think of groups that make presentations to smaller groups, like sales pros dealing with complex sales, supervisors and managers training their staffs, etc.

      Build up a few solid case studies, and the potential for an online course, coaching program, etc. will keep you as busy as you want to be.

    If this is so . . . you should have no trouble choosing a niche to go into because you will understand what the problems, challenges, desires, and issues are in each marketplace.

    Start with the niche that is most "in demand" and where the supply alternatives (competing products) aren't meeting the market demand. Pay attention to what the audience is telling you about their desire for a solution to problem X (could be anything). Then create your own product (or offer an affiliate product) that is the perfect solution to problem X.

    IMO, going deep into the niche (suggested above by Kate) will give you the added benefit of less competition and a more homogeneous audience (everybody looking for the same solutions).

    Detailed market research solves most marketing niche questions up front.

    You have answered your own question...passionate about Vegan niche and public speaking.

    So since you want to face your fear of public speaking...

    Start a you tube channel based around this topic and get a website, lead capture page, Aweber auto responder etc.

    Then start creating value based info around your passion of the Vegan topic.

    Learn how to do all this by using the search feature above.

    I think you are a bit CONFUSED

    The reason of your confusion is in the word "appear"..

    Do a serious research and choose a sub-niche.

    Are in Google Keyword tool more than 10.000 researeches?

    Are in Facebook's Insight more than 1 million people interested?

    There are products to sell in Clickbank, amazon?

    Is there a LONG TERM potential? I mean as an esample "infant teething" for mums, seems to be a good Niche, BUT in a couple of days every mums will have the info and no longer needs you.
    Assuming this i will prefer vegan, considering this aspect.

    And of course is digital friendly? Can you build a digital product for it?

    After gathering these infos, you have maybe to find a SUB-NICHE of a macro niche, SOLVING A PROBLEM.

    I mean, in your case....vegan of what? how to cook good recipes for children? how to find vegan clothes?

    Thank you can do a "test": BEFORE doing something, simply build an opt in page and promote it on fb, and see how it works.

    If it will work good, after a day a decent quantity of leads, in exchange of some report, than you can build a funnel, balancing nurture emails with promotional mails.

    Very clear, thank you very much. Since writing my original post I have discovered many of the things you've mentioned and the idea of future digital products is really important to me. I'm doing more drilling down and exploring other interest I have as well. I also agree that testing will be key and I have every intention of doing so .

    Both these niches are pretty saturated. Unless you're an expert in them or you have some really awesome new ideas then you'll probably struggle.

    The good news is that many niches aren't saturated. Clothing is still pretty good for example AND this is a niche in which people WILL spend money.

      I disagree with this...

      You only have competition when you target the exact same traffic source as another person.

      Real example, selling an automotive item on Craigslist, zero competition. Sourcing the same product on ebay which has dozens of sellers and thousands of known sales from public ebay data. Marking up the product 3 times because it still sells for that price on ebay.

      When something has a lot of competition odds are it's profitable.

      Finding traffic that hasn't yet been targeted isn't usually very difficult, example Craigslist is common knowledge but this specific product doesn't even exist on the local/site and been around for a few years.

      Don't worry about what other people are doing, it's an unnecessary mental roadblock.
