How do I add an affiliate program to my site?

How do I set up an affiliate program on my site? I want to recruit affiliates to push my product.
I checked into this briefly in the past and I was surprised as to the cost of having an affiliate program added into my site. Are some programs better that others? Should I be paying a monthly fee or a one time fee?

We are not a huge company - we just sell apparel. Men's performance apparel. Before giving google or facebook large sums of money for advertising our product, I would rather reward people who actually promote our product.

    You have to decide how you want to set up your affiliate system as there are several alternatives.
    - Purchase and install affiliate software at your site
    - Join an affiliate network as a seller and implement their system
    - Set up a financial transaction system that includes or has a "built-in" affiliate capability
    - You could also "piece together" a sales tracking system and manually do the work of paying sellers (not recommended)
    It's up to you to decide how you want to implement the admin side of your affiliate system. This is not the place to be cheap - headaches over payments to affiliates are not worth it.

      Another option that I think should be seriously considered by ANY seller of physical products is Amazon. Besides managing all the affiliate relationships for you, they already have a huge network of affiliates ready to start selling your product very quickly. You won't have to recruit affiliates and manage a whole new business relationship with all of them.

      With Amazon, you can use either
      1. fulfilled by Amazon (FBA), or
      2. fulfilled by Merchant (FBM)

      With FBA, you ship product to them in bulk and let them advertise on their site. They take orders online, and ship the product for you.

      With FBM, they advertise and take the orders online, but order fulfillment is on you.

      You should take the time to research both options fully

        Yes I agree here. If you are selling physical products and you actually have the inventory it only makes sense to consider selling some of your inventory on Amazon. Amazon already has huge amounts of buyer traffic as well as very high customer loyalty and trust. FBA makes sense for many reasons.

    I currently use SendOwl w/ Stripe integration for payments and they also handle the affiliate program if you so choose to do that.

    Hi Rose, You can try admitad; an international affiliate network. They have a very good affiliate program, which is free of cost. you just need to go exclusively with them, rest everything they will handle without any extra fee.
    I must suggest you try our admitad's affiliate program, it's free, they have the best in-house technology, better services.

    It's very simple.

    Launch your product on JVZOO.com and use their interface to track your affiliates commission and everything.

    Another network is SHAREASALE.

    It's an awesome piece of software and the people behind it are great. It starts at $200.
