Can a wordpress.org site be hosted by a hosting company?

Hey guys I'm currently building my own affiliate site and unfortunately wordpress.com doesn't offer everything that i need while wordpress.org does. I was just wondering if i could have a wordpress.org site hosted by bluehost? If i sound completely ignorant be sure to let me know what I'm doing wrong because i am completely foreign to this and still learning, thank you!!

    Yes, you want WordPress.org so you can independently host it on your own choice of servers. I have never had an account with Bluehost, but if they offer WP hosting (and the one-step install, if possible) then you should be good to go.

    Stay away from WordPress.com - as you say, they are too limiting and you could lose control of your site (it could be gone without warning if they decide to take it down).

        NO ONE offers wordpress.com except wordpress.com
        Not Bluehost, or any other web hosting service.

        Bluehost offers installation of the standalone wordpress script (from wordpress.org) as do most other web hosting services.

    That is the primary differentiation between using the wordpress.org script as opposed to using a much less flexible site hosted by wordpress.com.

    In a word... YES!

    Because wordpress.com does NOT offer everything you need, you don't want a wordpress.com site, anyway.

    Bluehost can host it and has the one step install as Steve has suggested. Look around on youtube videos how to instal word press. Stick with the most basic theme. Nothing fancy or you will really be confused. The Bluehosts bashers will show up to this thread and say they are part of E&G don't listen to them or you will really be confused. You just need to get your site up and running for now.
