Finding Serious Affiliates

Hi y'all!

My company has delved into ShareASale and Pepperjam for several months, and ended with nothing but high fees and immense dissatisfaction.

Aside from the extortion and legality, the quality of publishers is just pitiable: it's full of dilapidated blog and niche sites and a bowl-full of coupon sites.


We are considering buying a software ourselves and managing it, obviating the other networks to take our commission.

(We are considering Tapfiliate right now because it's something like $69/mo and has some nice features and reviews.)


Regardless, how would we find serious affiliates: ones who aren't trying to sell each other on funnel courses and junk like on here, but people with experience who could work well with 6 month tracking cookies and stuff. We're the manufacture, and we can give great, solid commission for solid affiliates.

      Hi Yukon. The FDA does not "approve" dietary supplements: that would be a drug. They only "regulate" or step in if we're doing something illegal. So in that regard, neither, as it is with all other supplements.

    Ok, well, as far as affiliates, If it was me, I'd be targeting Youtube channels in the health niche. At least this way you kind of get a sense of what type of person you're dealing with by watching a few videos.

    Start with smaller lesser known channels in the health niche, these people aren't usually as picky as big channels (egos). Build a portfolio of channels/affiliates and use that list to help you get bigger affiliates over time (snowball).

    So, no jovial affiliates need apply?

    Have you considered going the CPA route and just paying a bounty. You will find much more qualified affiliates as they are screened well by the platforms; like Maxbounty and Peerfly.

    Finding affiliates is easy. Finding affiliates who actually make sales can be challenging.

      We could go CPA, but considering we've been keelhauled by affiliate platforms we'd like it to be organic: reach out to the person individually with bounteous incentive.

    Following on Yukon's advice, you find effective affiliates by recruiting them almost like employees.

    Find those YouTube channels. And blogs that aren't just an excuse to hang a banner ad. Podcasts. Other social influencers, on sites like Instagram.

    Essentially, find people who already have a following and recruit them.

    Right. That's the direction we're going to head, but active, engaging blogs that aren't already promoting a cheesy MLM product are difficult to find.

      Keep looking, and when you find them, you have a solid possibility.

      You've already learned that finding effective affiliates is more difficult than just listing your company on an affiliate network.

      Recruiting good affiliates is a process, not an event.

    How big should their audience be?
    What niche subjects are relevant?
