Just joined today, as I've been chugging through clickbank stuff, wealthy affiliate stuff, and am still kind of lost. I feel pretty scattered in terms of how I'm supposed to approach this topic so I figured I'd come here and see if there's some crumbs of wisdom I can pick up.

Right now I run a web page which gets almost no traffic, I have an opt in which is probably poorly designed (people always talk about giving away free stuff here, and I' not sure where to start getting "free stuff" to give away)

Either way. I'm here. flame away

    Welcome to the WF.

    No reason to flame you.

My suggestion is merely to spend some time here and see how everything works. Look up topics using the search function. Also spend some time in the sub-forums and learn all you can there.

You will have lots of offers placed in your path. Don't buy anything just yet until you have a need.

Spend time reading posts here in the main forum and notice the members that give practical and helpful advice vs. those that don't. You'll soon learn which members to follow and which to skip over.

Be thinking about an audience you would like to serve. Choosing a niche is important so be sure to study the topic of "market research" so you understand where the money flows freely online. Right along with that, remember that building an email list in your chosen niche will be important regardless of what you decide about serving an audience.

There's lots to learn so be observant, ask questions when you are stumped, and understand that 95% of the members here don't make any money online - they are here trying to learn just as you are.

    The very best to you,

    Steve

It's perfectly normal to feel overwhelmed. I think everyone starts off like this. Regarding giving away free stuff for your capture page. You can create a free report on a topic your knowledgeable about, or create a free training video.

I was thinking of "writing" an ebook as the free offer. Was going to farm out some of the work to a friend of mine who is a bit more "academic" on the subject though. would hate to give a free offer, but immediately lose credibility if its not polished enough, or if I set off someone's BS detectors

You need to restart fron the basics.

All your effort has to be devoted in creating a powerful email list, as poweful i mean responsive.

For that your opt in page, your report and the quality of your traffic has to be good

    So...What should you do?

Get a good web platform like Leadpages, so you can use well optimized pages, and as traffic if you dont have any experience or coaching, use Solo Ads

You then have to set a sequence of emails, well written using copywriting

    ...tru to use swipes initially.

This could be good for starting, but you should start inmediately to find your own voice, just try, your leads have to be intringued by YOU

    Test! test! test!

Read M, study, patiently sift through the content on Warrior, and gravitate toward a few mentors, maybe clicking thru to their blogs and learning more about them.

Also....be gentle with yourself We are definitely here to help, to have fun and nurture. Enjoy the journey, be willing to dive into your fears and keep reading, studying, studying and learning.

Three things you need to master that not everyone here understands...

1st- You have to have a professional website. Weebly of Blogger is not going to get it done. Learn how to create a site with Wordpress (and use some plugins so you can create a killer squeeze page fast & easy).

2nd- One page is not going to get it done either... If nothing else, start adding some new supplementary content that supports your landing page/product page etc...

3rd- Start learning the basics of copywriting... You can get 1000 visitors a day, but if you cannot motivate them to take your desired action (opt in, buy your product, etc), why bother.

Google Gary Halbert, Eugene Schwartz and check out Cashvertising on Amazon.

Copywriting is a skill that many people blow off... But just learning the basics of copywriting will set you apart from the pack. Plus, once you start, it is pretty fascinating...

    HTH....

I do utilize wordpress, the site design and appearance (which is also multiple pages with content, though content may be aimed poorly)... so the site appearance isnt an issue. the idea of a squeeze page and an effective opt in are failures for me. I did install opt-in monster, which works in the functional sense. And honestly I'm not sure if my failure of an opt in is really based on lousy salesmanship (probably) or just a lack of traffic

but thanks for the advice. I did buy a click bank copywriting edumucational book. does anyone know if their material on that topic is worthwhile or did I waste my money?

It helped me to focus on one problem, one solution content creation. Also it helped me to pretend I'm writing for one person at a time.

Give away the nitty gritty for free, and charge money for the 'eazy breezy' solution.
