Newbie Trying to get First 100 Subscribers, Here is my Plan...

I know 100 isn't a lot of subscribers to get in 1 month but I have to start somewhere! LOL
I've put together a short term plan on how to get those subscribers and was wondering if you could take a peek to see if it's realistic or if there is something you would add. Once again, I'm trying to get 100 subscribers in 1 month and work my way up from there. Also, I'd love to hear any advice on how to grow an email list. Here's my plan in no particular order:

1. Create a basic landing page with subscriber collection textboxes for both first name and email
2. Create valuable detailed blog posts 2-times per week with each post length being greater than or equal to 1500 words. Make sure the posts are based on popular topics within my niche.
3. Create a 'content upgrade' and put a link to it in my blog post so when a user clicks to download it they will be prompted to enter in an email address
4. Create an Exit Popup, so when a user tries to leave a page they will be prompted to enter in their email address
5. Create a Facebook Ad and link to my landing page
6. Create a giveaway for a user who gives their email address, white paper or ebook
7. Start establishing SEO presence

    Hello Hellooooo

Hey whats up. I'm Johnny B! I love your strategies and tactics in attempting to get 100 lead/subscribers in 30 days. I'm on a similar quest myself lol

I have a small background of education in digital marketing and I just wanted to add a few tips/suggestions you may want to consider.

#2. - 2 blogs a week is great however, I don't think I would write such a lengthy Blog post of 1500 words. That's more like the size of an Article, don't you think? Are you using high performing keywords?
Oh! And don't forget to syndicate your blogs to place your content in front of more eyeballs
#4. When I use a exit popup, I generally ask a question rather than ask them to give me there email. As marketers, why would we ask someone to do something they apparently Don't want to do, you know?
    Are you tracking your clicks?
#6. We call them "Lead Magnets" - when you create something of value i.e. EBook, Video Series, PodCast ect; something that will answer there question and prompt them to subscribe.
#7. Great! Look into doing some networking within your niche and ask a few people you may know if you can place some backlinks on there website in exchange for a shout out to your followers.

I hope I was able to add some value to you and your marketing ventures.
I'm here if you have any questions.

    Happy Marketing GeekChick :-)

Hi JB! Thank you for your feedback, it helps a lot. As for the length of the blog, Neil Patel recommends writing blogs with 1500 words or greater because they rank better in Google. I would like to write shorter ones because it's more realistic. You mentioned a few things I'm interested in:

      1. How do I search for high performing keywords? Is that something I can find in the Google's Keyword Planner? Or some other tool?

      2. What is syndication and how do I syndicate my blog?

      Thank you,

      GeekChick

Perfect Strategy. To add on, focus on most relevant topics, write in natural way and try to cover 800-2000 words. That' s what Google wants after recent updates.

What is the ideal keyword density of a page?

    Good luck.

Does anyone see the contradiction here?

Writing in a "Natural way" does not include attempting to please G or "ideal keyword density."

      1. How do I search for high performing keywords? Is that something I can find in the Google's Keyword Planner? Or some other tool?
There are numerous keyword tools all with varying degrees of accuracy.

      2. What is syndication and how do I syndicate my blog?
First, a quick definition: Content syndication is a method of republishing content on other sites in order to reach a broader audience. Syndicated content not only increases your reach and brand awareness, it also builds links and can help drive more traffic to your original article. 4 Super-Effective Content Syndication Strategies for Bloggers | WordStream
I would like to write shorter ones because it's more realistic.
Write for humans, not search engines.

    I love your strategy.

However...I would add more ways to get traffic too your site than just FBads.

    Here are a few suggestions...

You could include forum marketing...Buy ad spots in forums in your niche or go the free route and put a signature link in your posts.

You could buy banner ads on sites related to your site.

You could do a blog post exchange....There is at least 1 site or plugin that will allow you to exchange, link from blog with similar posts,

You could create a twitter account and follow people in your niche...A certain amount will follow you back. You could set up an instant direct message that sends them to one of your blog posts when they follow you.

You could join FB groups, Google+1 groups, and Linkedin groups that are realated to your niche and link to your articles every time you make a blog post.

Etc...There are many ways to get fsar more than 100 subscribers in 1 month if you try several traffic streams.

    Good luck!!!

Couple of tips, we run several sites online that capture leads and run them through sales funnels selling mainly digital products - but also some physical.

    1. Videos are working better than anything else right now for generating traffic - especially when you make the video something very interesting to your market, then share it across social, your blog, YouTube, Facebook and even break it down into 1-minute clips that you can share on Instagram and on Twitter -- there are two pieces to generating traffic with content a) Generating content that attracts interest and b) Working hard at maximizing distribution - almost nobody does the latter well

    2. Make sure your lead magnet is highly valuable...remember, value is in the eye of your optimal target market...we actually run different tests and work with our optimal market to get ideas and produce lead magnets - it is rare that you will get this right the first time without closely working with your market - testing content, studying what they are buying and knowing how to communicate your message to the market

I would shoot for 1000 subscribers over 1-month - 100 is low...and I always like to shoot for the stars - that way if you miss you still end up above the clouds :-)

Just a little something you can do to increase Optin Conversion. Skip the whole Name part in optin form. I know some disagree with me but in imo the MMO niche people know personalizaiotn is automated anyway ( in non-mmo niche include Name in it)

Thank you for your feedback Robert! I'be gone back and forth about collecting the first name but Neil Patel collects first, last name and email. When he sends out emails and addresses me by my name it feels like a more personalized experience.

I think you can strip back a lot of what you are doing to the basics , all you need is a good report but never use the word free or 80% of the list will be tyre kickers

Just have a plain sign up page with either name -email or just email nice graphic of the white paper report , now to make them stick is have a special unannounced report of a top 10 ( niche) issues on the down load page

What ever you do no affiliate crap on that page and just do what ever you are going to do for traffic aim for 5+ a day and in a few weeks you will have 100

you could do Tier 1 solo ads too.

That could be a good add to the mix. :-)

I have found the only lead page I could convert at 85% ...which is astronomical, was the ugliest site I have seen.

I did it myself, and it was horrible, but it comes down to your copy.... this was proof to me, that its all about KEEPING it SIMPLE.

If your site is new your SEO tactics that you are learning from Neil may not be such a great idea.

SEO when done right can take anywhere from 6 months to a full year just to get going.

Yes some folks may chime in telling you what I said is BS and that you can just black hat your way.

If you want 100 leads this month then you may be better off looking for another faster form of traffic.

Pro Blogging is more long term.

Paid traffic will be a lot faster but still requires a learning curve.

At the later stage, you will start getting automatic ideas for expanding your list.
    Best of luck buddy.

Exit popups dont work great, if you wanna build a list then send them straight to your squeeze page instead....its the best way. Its going to take you a long time with exit popups, conversions can be low (3%) whereas my squeeze pages are 30%. Its a no brainer, especially if you are paying for ads.

It's all ok what u said.
Locker for content upgrade and so on...

Focus on ONE WAY of traffic, i suggest you fb ads or solo ads, initially to not spread all your money in too many different traffic sources

this strategy should work well, but you should focus on your post, and try to make them great quality, and not very long to keep attention of your readers! with the landing page, everything should be great also for you to collect the details of your readers! good luck!!

Just create a squeeze page, get a subscriber, then redirect them to your blog. Then follow-up on them via email, and leave a link to your blog/product/or whatever way you want to monetize.
