What Twitter Tools and Services Are You Using?

{edit: I've now included a list of twitter tools that other warriors have posted here, that way you don't have to manually search this thread. I've also included links to each tool}

Hey everyone,

I was just curious what twitter tools those of you on Twitter are actually using?

There are so many darn twitter tools these days that its hard to keep track of.

Anyway here's a list of the tools I'm currently using and recommend:

socialoomph.com (formerly tweetlater) MUST HAVE TOOL FOR IM'ERS
twitter karma - helps you get rid of unwanted followers
twellow.com - helps you find other cool twitter users to follow
ping.fm - very cool tool for managing all of your social networks
twtpoll.com - free tool for making polls
twitbacks.com - free tool for creating a twitter background

Here's a list of twitter tools and services other warriors are using:

Twiveaway - Allows you to build your list by running your own giveaway contest
Tweetdeck - all in one twitter desktop application
Twuffer - for scheduled tweets
Twitter Counter - creates a follower count icon for your blog
Twitter Tools Plugin - creates a complete integration between your WordPress blog and your Twitter account
Lab Tweets - A software program created by a fellow warrior that does lots of cool things(
Hummingbird - All in one marketing tool
Hootsuite - For engagement and interaction
Tweet Adder - Get more targeted twitter followers and automates posts
Local Tweeps - The zipcode level twitter directory
Tweep Search - Lets you keyword target peoples bios
TweetMixx - More links, less clutter
Twhirl - a desktop client for social software such as Twitter, Friendfeed, identi.ca, or seesmic
Twuugle - great for targeted Niche Research and all the results are from twitter.
Big Tweet - Share links with your followers without leaving the current web page
TwAitter - Automation, rss integretion, timeline management and other cool features
Seesmic - A desktop client to manage your lifestream from Facebook & multiple Twitter accounts.

What other tools would you recommend?

    TweetDeck
It allows simultaneous updates to Twitter and Facebook at the same time.
Plus it allows multiple Twitter accounts.

    hey Zachary

TweetDeck (Beta) is pretty cool to manage a handful of Twitter accounts on one interface...it's free too.

you can find it at tweetdeck[dot]com

      Devon,

Twuffer was new to me. Took it for a spin, not too bad (but) the frequency is only hourly (unless I missed something)?

TwAitter on the other hand, allows you to schedule a Tweet by the minute and clone and pause and stop scheduled tweets, which I find more akin to how my content needs to be shared.

You might wanna check it out.

I used to make it really complicated with all kinds of fancy Twitter tools, but lately with the improvements that twitter made to their main site (like saved searches and interface upgrated) I am able to primarily use just Twitter.com.

Great thread idea though, I am interested in seeing what others use.

    • Alright everyone, here is one of my secrets:

If you belong to several different social networking sites (and you should) you can use ping.fm to post to all of your networks from one central location.

However, you can not automate posts with ping.fm meaning that you still have to login each time you want to update your social networks.

But with socialoomph.com you can automate posts to ping.fm which in turn automates posts to all of your social networks....very cool

Unfortunately, socialoomph costs $30 a month to use but if you are using Twitter professionally, it's well, well worth the cost.

      What is twitter counter?

Is that the thing that creates a twitter follower count for your blog?

I recently started using HootSuite this week. My Twitter following is not large by any means, but I really like HootSuite because it helps me weed through all of the blatant advertisement from some of the individuals who I'm following.

I've got separate groups for my followers so that I can be updated about certain tweets from each group of followers.

I use future tweets and tweet later to schedule my tweets, twitter karma to bulk follow / unfollow, twellow, justtweetit, wefollow, localtweeps for the directories. And every now and then I check out tweetvalue, not that it means anything.

So many free ones, I steer clear if they come with a price tag - even if it is $5 a month.

I use tweetlater or socialomph as it is now known though i must confess i pass most of it on to my husband to do for me.

i used to use twitter karma but once you hit 10,000 followers it goes really slow so i use other unfollow tools instead and nutuality is my favourite at present.

i dont use tweetdeck because i have eyesight probs and it makes me crazy and gives me a migraine but i wish i could as it seems to be really cool.

    kind regards

TweetMixx , it help showing off the links from your friends, you can also view all the tweets (including those without links), just as you would on Twitter.com. And you can update your status from TweetMixx. As a straight-up Twitter client, it's not a bad one, as it's fast, and the plain-English link idea is a pretty nice one.

      Regards..

Thanks for this thread. I use Twadder; Socialoomph; Tweetdeck; Have Twhurl but don't really use it; Twellow; Tweet counter (My following has been going crazy so I really should check); Twitter Karma (turning off images helps if you have 100s of followers) and I think that's about it.

Would love to have things more automated but it's okay right now.

I wrote a twitter app that allows people to promote your last tweet, coupled with redirects for Clickbank or other plus gives them a free script if they tweet your stuff. Sounds complicated but it's actually very effective. I am pushing over 7200 followers in just a few weeks now. TOS friendly and a free site to do all this to boot.

I guess I need to learn more about Twitter. I have an account, but I haven't seen the value in it. Using software tools to blast out tweets seems spammy to me -- makes Twitter a write-only medium that nobody actually reads. I have found that trying to follow Twitter is a lot like being trapped in an elevator with a bunch of serious ADD cases. I can only conclude that I'm missing something important. Anybody care to enlighten me?

Yeah, you're right.. I don't really pay too much attention to my twitter. But as far as viewing twitter as a marketing tool.. think of it like this.. If you had as many followers as Jim Carey, and you tweeted a message every once in a while; essentially twitter has just become your radio broadcasting station and you're the advertiser.

I'm recommending tweet adder. I know they've been having a few kinks lately.. but if you can get past that, I think it's the best software for it's price right now.. unless you can afford tweetattacks but that's a bit more pricey..

You can get 1 registration down to about 44 bucks when you use this coupon code TWDISC

I used to have an issue where I couldn't auto-tweet.. well, at least it wouldn't work on my computer with windows 7.. but it seemed to work just fine when I installed in on my computer with Vista.. (something to think about)

If you want free, then go with socialoomph..
