Do affiliate niche sites still make money in 2017?

I know that this concept has been around since the dawn of the internet but does it still work? I am curious.

If so is the concept still the same?
1. Find affiliate offer
2. Build site
3. Create articles targeting low competition keywords around offer.
4. Get some good backlinks
5. Repeat 3 & 4

Yes, or you can build a site, get traffic and then look for affiliate products to fit your visitors.

Another option is to build a product-specific site and drive traffic with ads.

It works, but it's much more effective to build a niche authority site, post fantastic content, and build an audience.

People aren't as easily sold as they once were. I remember 8 or 9 years ago I could create a 10-15 page affiliate site around one Clickbank product, write or outsource 10 articles around relevant keywords and submit those to article directories and sites like HubPages & Squidoo for backlinks, and easily rank it in page 1 of Google.

People would land on it and subscribe to my list, and many would click through right to the sales page and buy the product.

    Well, those days are over.

Today you need to provide tremendous value before you get the sale, or even the opt-in, for that matter.

In a way I think it's better because you can create a site around a niche that can much more diverse.

You can review multiple products instead of just one, and you have the ability to create good content that if you're lucky, can go viral and bring in loads of traffic and subscribers.

Also, if you want organic search engine traffic nowadays, thin affiliate sites won't really do it for you. You'll get some, but with an authority site you can build up huge amounts of organic traffic, and as we all know, that's the best.

My advice is put in the work and build a great authority site that provides value and entertainment. If you work hard enough, you'll certainly be rewarded.

If that doesn't work anymore, so what does? People are getting increasingly aware of the technicalities of this game... Too many newbies rinsing and repeating old methods.

Like Nicheblogger75 said, now people really need you to provide real value for money than previous years.

Wanna make money now? Create a product and hand it over to affiliates to market for you. Seems better that way.... It is also becoming increasingly cheaper to get products created for you than before... So stop being a wholesaler, become a manufacturer. Seems that still rocks if you know your ways.

I did this method before and had sales come in but I have found that it's not a good method to use if you want to generate enough cash to pay the bills.

You would have to create niche site after niche site and spend a ton of time trying to rank and promote those niche sites.

Why don't you just try promoting yourself and finding affiliate offers that you can promote to your email list?

You build a relationship with your list then sell them products that you believe will solve their problem.

Then when you're ready... you can create your own products and sell them alongside the affiliate products.

Too many people don't pay attention to branding THEMSELVES which is a huge mistake if you want to last in this industry.

Focus on selling yourself first then everything else second.

    I hope this helps you.

    Yes. Still works.
Concept looks good, just make sure you're tracking stuff and testing different variables.
