how long did it take you to go from "first step" to "first 1$"?

Im asking because i havent made 1 cent yet and ive been working on my blog for a year and a half... is that normal??

I have numerouse articles with many optins and affiliate links here and there. I promote my articles after i write them and can typically get around 250 people to read my articles.

Im getting discouraged latetly because i have put SOO MUCH time into this, bassically 90% of my free time from my day job goes into this and I have almost nothing to show for it... Im stressed as HELL latetly because im afraid it will never work...

I have a blog were i give advice and practical tips to people with a particular mental illness. Niche is not the problem since many other people are doing it. Im trying to emulate what they do but it seems as if nothing is working...

Plz help, my next 90 day challenge is to make 1$... i would love to share my website for you guys to possibly have some critics, but when i do that, WF blocks my posts...

Anyways, best of luck!

It took about a year for me. I spent the first six months studying and building test sites, so actually six months from the time I actually started promoting anything.

I started when the internet was fairly new. It was like shooting fish in a barrel back then.

I have always promoted PPL (pay per lead...lead generation) offers because there is no credit card / purchase required to complete an offer. All a user has to do is fill out a form, so conversion rates are typically much higher compared to offers that require a sale to be made.

However, when I first started I had to develop my own lead generation offers and find buyers for the leads. There were no affiliate / CPA networks that existed or at least that I knew of. Today things are so much easier but more competitive.

Blogging is probably takes the longest amount of time of all business models, so don't beat yourself up about it.

My first $1 took about 30 days after I put Adsense on my blog.

And then it took a few years to make a living from my blog (not a very good living, either).

Things didn't really start to take shape, consistently, until I started building an email list.

It's probably better if you give your visitors a reason to subscribe to a mailing list, then promote affiliate offers to them that way instead.

    Hey Jake,

It took me a couple of weeks...

But you should try shifting your focus over from providing value through your website to providing value to your email list.

Build your list by trying to capture as many people as you can who currently read your blog. You can do this by adding links to your landing page in the blog post itself and by having pop-ups or side widgets.

You can still focus on pumping out content on your blog but I would make that secondary and update your list every time you create a new blog post.

You can mix your blog posts in with actually selling products that will bring in more money.

An email list is the most important asset that you can have as a marketer. It gives you financial stability and confidence knowing that you have a following of people who are ready to buy what you have to offer.

I hope this helps and best of luck!

  • I made my first sale within the span of 3 months. It was not a huge sale and it is quite a challenge for me as well to make another sale after (probably another 2 months since I made my first sale) BUT I just continued what I have started and didn't really mind the little earnings I make at that moment. Instead, I focused more on the quality of content that I am offering my market. THEN, sales are frequently coming after a lot of patience, hard work, and time spent.

For 75% of the newbies online... yeah that's pretty normal.

If the Warrior Forum moderators block your posts when you share your website, it means that they are forcing you to become a better marketer. You should thank them for it. Build your list, then pitch an offer to your list.

You have a blog, so add a hover add to your home page to capture name/email, then follow up on your leads with links to certain blog posts & affiliate offers (or your own products) that you want to sell.

If you really want to make $1 really really bad.... sell the Xbox, Playstation, and flat screen TV on ebay.
