Selling online courses, need guidance

Complete newbie here. I have about 7 courses that I want to sell online. I've tried skillshare and udemy but profits were not great.

I am wondering if affiliate marketing will help me scale my own platform. I am considering JVNotify and have been told that affiliates will take 33% commission.

I am a bit confused about 1) if affiliate marketing is the way to go for online courses b) if outsourcing marketing is worth it. As I am too caught up in creating content

Sorry for the basic questions but this is completely new to me

    I'm using Teachable at the moment and I like it.

    They have an affiliate program built in.

    You should sell them on your own website. That way you can price your product to whatever you want - without a possible customers seeing other courses similar to your's at lower prices, and with good reviews. Sell it on your own site so you can boost your sales. Udemy is great but don't rely on another website to be the source of your income. Because when they mess up, you mess up.

      What do these sites offer that his personal site doesn't? More than likely, 'traffic, traffic, traffic.' You can't sell something if people can't find it and 100% of $0.00 is $0.00, no matter how you look at it.

      Being afraid of competition is the first step to admitting that you shouldn't be in business. The more competition you have, the harder you must work to produce a quality product that can hold its own. That's one of the fundamental tenets in achieving success. Yeah, I know 'work.' The word that most IM'ers hate to hear because someone convinced them that IM was a gold rush. Good luck with that.

    Thanks for the advice. I was selling on Udemy and doing well but want to sell on my own platform as I have good reviews now.

    Udemy is great if you can drive your own traffic, which gives you 90% of each sale. So I will run courses on both Udemy and my own website.

    The question I'm asking is if affiliate marketing is the way to go for selling online courses?

  • Hi Rose,

    Try to create your own landing page or website then drive traffic there. You can also use social media for your marketing such as having your own FB page for example. Having your own website makes a huge difference as you can drive all traffic directly to your website and what is more is you can connect your other accounts (Udemy, etc) to your website. You may also try LinkedIn and Amazon Kindle.
