Would a WordPress membership site work for this project?

I'm working on relaunching m offline business here locally, only this time I'm going to automate as much as possible.

I've sketched out everything as far as driving traffic to the site, opt-in for the customer, my ezine, the shopping cart, etc.

It's easy to automate everything up to the point where I physically deliver products to their house.

The way this business works, someone hires me to deliver to their loved one's house.

So the actual paying customer is Person A, so by the time they buy, they are now on my ezine list.

I'm delivering to Person B, who is the recipient of the gift (not a paying customer), and is not on my ezine.

Here is the tricky part.

I take photos of my products in their yard (I deliver and set up a yard card and flamingos, etc., for special occasions) and I am thinking the easiest way to turn around and get Person B (the recipient) signed up for my ezine (so they will, in turn, become a paying customer eventually) would be to post the photos online and have Person B go to that site and opt-in to be able to view and download the photos.

So that leads me to wondering what would be the easiest way to put the photos online with an opt-in box and/or password to let Person B in there.

I know a lot of photographers set private portfolios up online for their clients to look at their proofs, so I'm wondering if that might be the way to go. But it doesn't need to be as slick and fancy as something a portrait photographer would set up.

Would it be possible to set up something in WordPress, like a membership site, and only let Person B in if they opt-in?

I've thought about this until the headache is coming back.

Any ideas?

    Here's what I would do:

Tell Buyer A that you can put an extra-special "long" message online that is private and secure.

Then, on the yard sign, put a special, unique "code" (UYS367RT) and URL that needs to be entered online for Recipient B to "get" the long message.

      Sorry. Guess I wasn't clear.

No, I don't want the code on the yard card for people to see when they drive by. I've already got my URL on the yard card so people driving by say, "How cute!" and then look up my site, and I get a lot of new customers that way.

So putting this on the yard card is not an option. The yard card is already full with the birthday message for the recipient.

Plus what I am talking about is a private message, directly to the recipient (and I'll tell them on a card that I leave in their goody bag, so they'll find it and know where to find the photos online).

If I just leave them a card that tells them my URL (or rely on them seeing my URL on the yard card itself), it doesn't give them a reason to GO TO MY SITE and opt-in, which will then get them on the ezine list.

I've got the potential for every sale to be a double-whammy to grow my list -- the sender and the recipient.

I need a call to action for the recipient to decide it is worth the effort to go to my site. That call to action is the fact that I have taken a bunch of photos of the display in their yard.

I could email the images to the recipient. That is one option. I've already received an email address for the sender, and I can easily send images (or a link to the images) to the sender.

But the sender is already on the list.

I want to get the recipient on my list now, too.

Even if I were to talk the sender into giving me the email address of the recipient, I don't feel comfortable sending an email to the recipient out of the blue because the recipient did not do business with me. The sender did.

If I email the photos (or a link) to the sender, I'd have to cross my fingers and hope that the sender would forward the message to the recipient, which would then give the recipient a link to click and go see the photos on my site. Once the recipient is there, I would cross my fingers and hope that they opt in.

So I need to give them a reason to go to my site and opt in. The reason is to get the photos.

I don't want their photos to be part of a big, long mess of images from many customers' yards that the recipient would have to scroll through. Why waste their time and risk making them mad?

I want their photos to be in one spot.

      Hope that makes sense.

So, I'm not asking for advice on what to put on the yard card.

      Thanks!
