Is Google Really Showing Us What People Search For?

Hey Warriors, Greetings! Quick question about seo and how Google really shows us what people are searching for. I typed the phrase (tubemogul vs traffic geyser) into the Google search bar and it gives me 91,900 results for that phrase. When I put it into quotes it gives me 4,130 for competing results. I was just wondering why when I use different keyword tools that they don't show me anyone is searching for that phrase. Now I know what some people might think. Go by the keyword tools and everyone has been taught that. I use that myself and have several pages on Google's front page. However, you know how sometimes we don't see the small things and try to make things hard on ourselves. I happened to be seeing a lot of new teaching concerning seo and how Google really shows us what people are searching for in their browser.

For example: when you start typing (tube mogul) into the Google search bar, Google starts recommending to you the phrases that people are searching for. It starts giving you suggestions that people are already searching for. Examle: It gives you (tubemogul vs traffic geyser). But when I use defferent keyword tools, nothing shows up for that search phrase. So when those search phrases come up in Google should I try to dominate those phrases or go by what the keyword tools tell me what people are searching for? I just want to know what you guys think about this.

Thanks,
Gilbert

I think you should put keyword targeted pages out there and TEST it.

Think like a consumer to find keywords.

The best keyword tool is your brain, the second best keyword tool is your own stats dashboard... Test the keywords and analyse your own data.

Any third party keyword tool is outside of your control.

most of the time, the results you get with Google's keyword tool are off by a factor of 100 as far as search volume. So if you put in a keyword and Google tells you it gets say 1000 searches a month - chances are that you will see very little, if any, traffic from that keyword even if you have the #1 spot.

    Just my 2 cents worth

Thanks for the quick posts. I'll have to do some testing. You're right Jay. I'll have to think more like a consumer. I remember when I first started internet marketing that's what I did. I thought like a consumer to find what I was looking for. Thanks for the help!
