What is the scope for Designer work with Digital Marketing ?

The first thing that comes to my mind is that you design products that are IM relayed / oriented and then you market them to internet marketers.

Personally, I think the future for graphic designers is more limited in career options than is the future for Internet marketers.

Why? Small business owners that are established, to a large extent, use in-house graphics teams, or they outsource to large design firms. In both cases, you will be an employee if you get hired to do graphics design. You will be trading your time for money. That's not the best IM model.

Small solo business owners often do their own graphics and we have seen a large increase in the number of D-I-Y "forget Photoshop" products being sold with the promise that you don't need to hire a graphics designer when you have our tool!

To me, the solution to this dilemma would be to create and sell your own products and apply your graphic design skills to those products. There are always logos to create, e-covers to design, web sites to design, marketing and ad materials that need graphics. Also blogs, newsletters, emails etc, all could use graphics in them. You would be an Internet marketer selling your own products and doing all your own graphics for those products. And even if you don't like product creation, you could hire that out to others, use PLR, public domain material, etc.

Try to find a business career that doesn't require that you trade your time for money. You need leverage in order to make a substantial income - create a product once, then sell it over and over for years to come.
