How Long Does It Take to Make Your First Sale?

It took me a few minutes but there's more to the story.

I was/am involved in a niche forum and had built up a thread in a sub-niche so I already had all the traffic lined up ready to go on day one when my first site went live.

With Solo ads, I received 1200 clicks and 7 leads in a few weeks ....Is that good or bad?

It took me 3 months. I was in college at the time. Nowadays though in a brand new niche.... it takes me a matter of days. Like the 3rd day.

A common mistake of marketers is to hop from one method to another to make money. If the first does not generate quick success they try someone different. The result is that a long time can pass by without a sale. Simply because they have not continued with a method that works for long enough.

What is perhaps tricky is finding a method that is working currently. I have noted that many online "gurus" will talk about methods that they have made a huge amount of cash with. What they don't say is that it nolonger works well and that they are selling the idea to IM newbies as a way of making the final bucks from the idea.

A few weeks. I discovered a method involving short press releases about hot topics and sent the traffic direct to an affiliate offer.

That was years ago and now I focus on a more long term method. Was good while it lasted though

It depends on many factors: your market, your customers, luck etc... It can be some hours, days or months. You can't predict how long in will be.

The real question here is what are you doing to build awareness of your product and your website?

You need to get viewers before you can get customers.

Read Gabriel Weinberg's excellent book, Traction, for ideas on how to build an audience for your business. Weinberg outlines 17 different marketing channels and a methodical way to identify the right channel(s) for your business.

It took me about 3 months, that was long time ago about 8 years back, it was a green card lottery CPA offer that got a lot of traffic and good conversions because of the demand for US visas. I didn't even have a website then i just used a link shortener to cloak the affiliate link. I then thought to myself "wow" this is easy money! I got hooked then to making money online and affiliate marketing.

Well for me I made my first affiliate sale in about 1 month after learning about it and now I make affiliate sales everyday, so just stick with it and learn all you can about affiliate marketing and making sales online.

But it really depends, for another project it took about 4 months, some others took only few days, some never work etc...
