Is it worth spending time creating an Arcade website?

Hi all,

I have a couple hours spare some evenings where I would like to focus on building a new website, i'm leaning towards a content site which generates revenue through different ad networks like Adsense.

Im not really up to date on the whereabouts of Flash is in terms of online gaming but i know HTML5 is a healthier alternative. Do these sites generate good revenue? Is the web browser gaming niche fading out and players are turning to mobile apps?

Has anyone had any experience in this field that would like to share their thoughts?

Thank you,
Matt

The best way to find out is to just do it. Let the results tell you if it works or doesn't.

Although you hear it all the time "Flash is Dead" and while in essence true still not quite accurate its sill abundant and will be for some time at the time of me writing this response. Html5/css3 is definitely where things have been going as far as pressing foward as the major browser contenders have definitely been optimizing for those constantly evolving aspects of the front end environment. As far as will it be lucrative it very well could be because the browser's are becoming much more capable with these technologies and not everyone is looking to always have to jump on Steam to play a decent game and download gigabytes of data for base files and supplemental game data as well.

I say give it a test because if you are able to have some quality games then the gaming niche is fierce for sure as they are definitely passionate and willing to open their wallets when they have the chance to buy something they are already well invested within. Best of luck to you.

Before starting you don't know. Anyway people still play but on facebook or android. There are still services like gamedistribution.com for getting free content.
Or like me for getting paid
