Help!!! Someone Just Stole My Facebook Page with over 100k LIKES

by lenny68 39 replies
Hey Warriors!

I am having a very bad day! Someone approached me that they want to buy my Facebook Page with over 100k LIKES, I was busy and told the person that I would get back but he was very persisting and we got chatting and he asked me which Country I had the most Traffic. He asked me if I know about "Facebook Business Manager" I told him no and he sent me the Link and begged me to make him an Analyst on the page and as soon as he has checked the Traffic I can take him out and we can close the Deal. but soon as I made him an Analyst he cut me off that was the minute I realized it was Scam. Now I am like a Stranger on my own Page that took me time and hardwork to build. I cant Log in or access the Page and I got an email that I can no longer access the Page. I know I made a very stupid Mistake but is there anyway i can get my Page back? Cos I have been searching all day and no way to Report Facebook. I have Screen shots of all our Chats and the Hackers Facebook Profile is still up.. I have been very sad the whole day. Is there anyone here that can help me?

Thanks

I guess the Facebook Manager link he sent me was created by him cos it looks so real. Soon as I clicked the Link and added him, My Page was gone. We spent about 30mins Chatting and once I added him from that Link he sent me, my Page was gone

    To report a Page:

Go to the Page you want to report
Click below the Page's cover photo
    Select Report Page
Choose the option that best describes the issue and follow the on-screen instructions
    https://www.facebook.com/help/www/18...648557?ref=u2u
I also found this, so you may be right:

Unfortunately, there is no way to directly contact Facebook–you can't call, text, email, or otherwise speak to an employee or affiliate of Facebook. You can, however, use Facebook's Help Center to diagnose and report a problem with your account.

I assume smoke signals won't work either.

Thats the Problem with Facebook, you would think for such a Huge Forum that the entire world is using, they will at least have way to resolve Problems, rather they just put questions and Answers for you to Click. Its so irritating.... This still looks liike a Dream to me. A Page that I have worked and Labour for two whole years, Stolen in less than 30mins. I have been on the Page more than 20times starring at all the Posts I made, even my own Personal Video Clips are on the Page and someone else would reap all these? I still cant believe it.

Anyway Thanks for even trying to help. I do appreciate

He was asking questions and I was answering, (via Chat) then he asked for him to use Facebook Business Manager to make him the Page Analyst so he can check the Traffic and after that I can take him out and then we close the Deal cos he wanted to buy the Page. He sent me a Link to do it, soon as I did. He was gone and the Page belongs to him..... I still cant believe it, looks like I am dreaming

Wow...for the need of traffic people would go to great lengths to get what they need the easiest possible way. Facebook is difficult to contact or get help from. If you report it, they'll take it down and you'll have to start from scratch.

I would rather they take the Page down than for someone to steal my hardwork, something I worked so hard for. Crazything is I actually have some Comedy skit of myself on the Page and I just sit and look at my work all gone!

Since you still have the account i am sure you can try Facebook Help. I am sure they would be very concerned that someone hacked a facebook page.

But no one hacked a Facebook page. He gave it away voluntarily.

It's a very unfortunate situation and a hard lesson to learn
but I doubt that Facebook will do anything about it.

    Lenny,

I'm sorry for you and obviously scammers are to blame for causing the hurt, loss of income, and added effort it takes to deal with them and their damage done to innocent people.

That being said, and even though you may or may not get your FB page back, some good can come from your experience if other people reading your thread learn and understand that most scams happen with some kind of "help" from the victim. Of course few would intentionally help a scammer - but because so many people are trusting, or careless, or unaware of how scams happen, they open themselves up to these attacks. Never give out private, confidential, or protected information online to anyone you don't know and trust.

I wish you the very best in getting this situation resolved in your best interest.

So true Steve! I was on my way out and actually told him, I would rather wait till I get home to my Laptop and we can continue but he was such in a hurry pleading and saying "My Boss in on the Line waiting for me to Close this Deal and we can do it now with your phone" He asked me about the Traffic of my Page and then asked if I know about "Facebook Business Manager" He asked that a couple of times and I said NO, I dont then he sent me the Link saying I should check that it's from Facebook and then with sending me Screen shots he guided me through. According to him all he wanted to do is check the Traffic via the Facebook Business Manager and I should make him the Analyst for a few minutes and then take him off again after he has checked. All these should have sent me a Signal, I actually wanted to stop Twice but he kept going "Listen Mate, we can close this deal now"He is from Canada, at least that's what his FB Profile said.... I feel so Sad and Stupid that I allowed this happened, and now he is posting stuff on my Page and I cant do anything about it

So sorry to hear that Lenny ...
Do you by any chance have his company name? (He said his boss was waiting ..., so wondering if there is any possibility from the other end.
I am sure you have put good amnt of energy in building those audience, but is there a way you can name your new page maybe as ‘OldPage Name + Official’? It doesn’t solve the problem, but could help with your new page organic growth.

Hope to hear some positive resolution for ur issue though ...

Did you go to this page https://www.facebook.com/help/1306725409382822 and go through the process?

How do you know there's nothing you can do if you don't even try the available options?

Your page is part of your account so report what happened. Or do you just want people to feel sorry for you?

Feel sorry for me from total Strangers? Not one bit! I have tried everything you can think of. The Link you sent only leads to you Changing your Password and that's it. Everything out there are Just Questions & Answers that you Click and Proceed till you are done. No actual Email address to send Complains to with Proof. I followed your Link again, Clicking along till it gets to the option of Changing my Password and I stopped cos that won't sole the Problem. Thanks a lot for all your help, advice and concern

That's a very stressful situation to have to deal with.

I doubt Facebook is going to invest their time into resolving this issue because their support team is kind of a pain in the neck to deal with.

The best that you can do is report a hacked page to Facebook. You can find that page below:

    https://facebook.com/help/contact/434468003315353

If they respond to your report - it would be very surprising.

I've had to deal with their support team many times when running Facebook ads and experiencing security issues.

And if they do fix the problem, they NEVER respond to my reports to tell me that the problem has been fixed.

I just had to keep checking until eventually it was resolved.

I am still trying my best with every suggestions here and trying to work it out on my own but not much luck cos of how Facebook is set up. It's always Clicking Questions and Answers when what you actually need is someone to contact and explain what is going on to....

I have Opened a New Page and gradually started transfering my Posts from the Hacked Page.... Almost 100LIKES now a far cry from the 100K Likes, and Transferring my previous posts is such a huge work that it's discouraging. Transffered 10 posts so far Phew!! Thanks for reaching out, I appreciate

If people were on your page because they liked you, contact some of the more influential members and have them spread the word about what happened and see if they'll follow you to your new page if you can't get the old one back. Just an idea. That sucks and I'm sorry.

    Hey Lenny,
I came upon this Thread just now. I really feel for you. I have had similar things happen. . Different , but the emotional toll was similar to yours. So I know how that panicky and frustrated feeling your going through can really seem overwhelming. But it will work out one way or the other and that emotional roller coaster will come to a halt

I checked out this page. Gosh, the guy is posting about every 2 hours. And some of the posts are racy .
    What a slime ball !!

Anyway, please keep us updated. I really do not know anything else to suggest outside what has been said here.

Exactly the same thing happened to me! I have 142k followers - someone posing as facebook messaged me and told me I had negative feedback, so I stupidly completed this form that I thought was an 'appeal' - but it must have been me relinquishing my rights to some extent.

That's the page they took over.

This is crappy that this con artist did this to you. He did it because you had the 100k likes. Hope things get better. My suggestion is just to take the page down, if you can, and start over. Your fans will understand. OH... another thing, hound him.

Did you go to the page and beside the words share it pops down and report can be done looks like this
    Help Us Understand What's Happening

    • What's wrong with this Page?
      • I just don't like it
      • It's harassing me or someone I know
      • I think it shouldn't be on Facebook
      • It's a scam
      • I think it's an unauthorized use of my intellectual property
      • Then you can try bottom choice.

I’ve unfortunately heard of this many times. Each time the owner was never able to recover the page as it’s against the TOS to sell a Facebook page. With that being said, I wish you luck on getting it back.
