Does anyone have a Plan B?

For anyone who is making a full time income online, do you have a plan B?

Sure it feels cool to see 300 bucks a day (I don't btw) from your ezine articles or squidoo lenses, but will they last for 10 or 40 years?

At 27 I am a little bit scared to leave the full time job life for 8 daily clickbank sales from article marketing. I might make it for a few years, but the competition will be increasing each year. Will the employers in 2019 understand me, and hire a guy that has been "working in his pyjamas at the beach" for the last 10 years?

Even your email list will die eventually if you are not feeding it with new visitors. Think how different the world was in the 80's compared to now, and you will see my concerns. This forum will not talk about "link wheels" in 2049.

What is your backup plan? Your plan B

I wouldn't quit a job if I had only one source of sales - that's not enough.

You seem to assume that people build something profitable online and then just sit on it - and that's not true. They keep building more and adding different income streams.

In your scenario a shoe store would open and just keep stocking the same styles season after season. The store would quickly become outdated and unprofitable.

If some new method such as link wheels gets discussed it may quickly get attention and have lots of people jumping on that bandwagon. What you don't see is that many used it before it was talked about - and many won't bother with it at all because it doesn't suit their business plan.

My point is that things will change online, and it will be harder to compete when big websites start to get smarter with their SEO.

I do also build new articles and small websites all the time, but I wounder how long this model will last.

This thread was meant to be about what people are doing to build financial security towards the time when this make money online stuff will be too hard to do without a whole crew of employees.

In my opinion, you will have to diversify your online income. Build something that will give you residual income. Residual income is an income you keep receiving month after month. After you have built that income, focus on providing excellent service to your customers. When you provide excellence service to your customers, they will build your business for you. They will recommend you to friends and families. When you do that, you don't have to worry. Your business will always thrieve no matter what the competition is. Forget the competition and focus on your customers' satisfaction. Pretend competition does not exist.

Well all good things do come to an end at some point but not always. I remember a story of a company that makes and sells buggy whips online and doing quite well. I guess its about creativity.

You really need a plan B, C and D. That is as the other poster said you can't depend just on those products you need another source of income or stream. Affiliate up with other vendors or create a membership or information site. That is leverage with your current earnings to go into something else and build more sites. If you invest much of you earnings into yourself and for later years you will not need to worry too much about 2019.

It is a never ending cycle ...

You need more than 1 income stream, or it is the same as having a normal day job that you can lose anytime.Build your internet marketing strategy on several smaller income streams instead.(several blogs in different niches, adsense ads, clickbank, kontera, mlm...)

    Hi OP,

You shouldn't look at things in terms of Plan A's B's and C's -- Instead you should focus on establishing multiple streams of income (doing a, b, and c at the same time . Find ways to duplicate your efforts, always be reading on whats new, expand your current projects, start new projects, etc.

Business should never stop growing/changing -- if it does, it dies.

    Thanks for good feedback.

I do use a lot of my online income to outsource new articles and also backlinks to these.

I have also started to invest in some stocks in safer and larger norwegian companies. Not to profit from now, but to save for later days. Does anyone invest in offline stuff (houses, stocks etc)
