Can a blog have two objectives?

Hi,

I'd like to launch a website for a freelancing activity : creating conversion focused blogs for people, a kind of bundle, with design included etc. It mainly target newbie ppl.

The questions is, in the same time, I'd like to grow a list. So in the blog side of the website, I'll do videos about how to have an optimized blog.

So how can I promote my freelancing activity (I really need to work So I cannot focus only on list building) and in the same time invite them to chose one of my freelancing offers?

I hope my question is clear.

Thanks in advance for your replies guys.

Yes, certainly. It can do whatever you want it to.

IMO, the key to "marrying" the two things you want to do into one business is to make sure they support and feed off of each other. You will most likely find that one side of your business gets more attention and focus than the other side - it's just natural.

Regardless of how you set things up, building a subscriber list is always a good idea. Many IMers will tell you their list is the most valuable asset in their business. In fact, you can set up several lists if you want to segregate your subscribers so you can cater specifically to the needs of each list.

Your freelancing offers, to maximize the tie between the two "sides" of your business, should probably be related to ways you can assist new blog owners (which shouldn't be difficult at all). Think about all the various aspects of running an online business. People that start blogs with the intention of making money from them need to be concerned about many things all related to executing a small owner-operated business. This is a natural place to start your freelancing - helping newbies by doing tasks that are easy for them to outsource.

Be a little creative, review your own skills and abilities, and come up with things you can do like:
    • Save bloggers time and money
    • Fill their blogs with professional content
    • Help them with product development and distribution
    • Assist them in getting traffic
    • Help with customer care and service
    • Help them with branding and name recognition
    • Assist with emailing or producing a newsletter
    • Get the set up with a profitable funnel and financial transactions
    • Help them with graphics for their ads and posts
    • Anything else you can think of that can be outsourced
The very best way to offer helpful paid services is to research your marketplace before you offer anything so you will know, in advance, the types of help that are commonly asked for by new bloggers. Then continually have your finger on the pulse of your niche and encourage an open dialogue with your customers.

The idea is that you want to be the freelancer that knows and understands the needs of beginning bloggers and that you are the only logical choice for what you do. Be sure to have lots of testimonials from other bloggers you have helped (over time, of course). Maybe start with some unpaid freelancing in order to get a few testimonials for how you have helped other people in your niche.

Good luck with your new venture,

    Yeah of course.

Just make sure you provide value and don't just keep pitching your list.

While you can do whatever you want, my two cents is that you need two separate websites.

I am right there in a similar place. I run a freelance business and I blog on my own blog about how to blog, productivity, personal growth, etc. I have two sites.

The traffic coming to my blog about productivity isn't targeted to freelancing and the traffic coming to my site about freelancing isn't targeted to productivity. While they may cross over a bit, I would recommend two sites for this situation.

Content is most important for SEO If you have unique content and doing off the page submission link article press release and Blogs submit then get hi traffic.

Surely your freelancing activity could be offered through a site like Fiverr.com with a 'graphic' link pointing 'from' your blog 'to' your freelancing product/service/price as detailed on the 3rd party site?

Thank you all for your valuable inputs. (And thanks Steve B for that detailed answer)

It's seems that there's nothing wrong about it.

@Benjamin about the targets, I think that it could be solved by targeting through FaceBook Ads. Send people either to the offer page of freelancing activity or to the homepage for that freebie to get.

    Again thank you all.
