$10K Budget, Need To Make $1K/Month Online ASAP

Ok, I'm in a bit of a crunch.

I took a job with a US company in a foreign country. Our entire location was downsized with very little notice, leaving us all to scramble and completely rearrange our lives.

I have no job or home back in the states. My work permit obviously expires in the country I live in now. I can apply for residence but I have to show regular monthly income of at least $1K/month hitting my bank account.

I can technically buy a few more months in the country as a tourist, and I have enough money saved up to support me until then...with about $10K to get a business started.

I did affiliate marketing YEARS ago but abandoned it for more stable income (regular 9/5). I have no idea what's hot (is PPV still killing it? lol), what's pretty reliable, the best place to start to get some instant cash flow (Bing?), etc.

Any ideas or guidance anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Do you have family in the U.S.?

Can you not get another job either in the country you are in or the U.S.?

Most people fail at internet marketing, so what you are wanting to do is very risky for someone in your situation. You would really be better off having a job (way to live) before starting out in IM.

Unfortunately, no family. I'm on my own. If my time runs out then I will just have to move back to the US and figure things out.

I do understand I'm in a high stakes situation right now. But I have affiliate marketing experience, and was profitable at it. I just didn't spend the time and effort to scale things to where I could live completely off of the income, since I had a good job offer.

But I can effectively live off $1K/mth where I am on a tight budget, with the added benefit of satisfying residence eligibility.

Well there's your answer: You were profitable at affiliate marketing.

Things haven't changed all that much - the same principles apply today - you'll just have to update your traffic sources, links, etc. Scaling things up from where you were is not that difficult if you have the basics of the affiliate marketing model down to the point that you can be profitable as you were in the past.

As another person above said, focus first on finding work locally so that you can prove your ongoing income. In your spare time at night and on weekends, work on your affiliate marketing. If you're losing your job, save your cash until you can replace it. Don't spend $10K on someone's guaranteed income system - there is no such thing.

        Good luck to you,

        Steve

I'm fine with that. I want to be as accurate and detailed as possible. Someone would probably eventually reply and ask me how much I have to invest anyway lol.

You would be better off using that 10k to search for a new job. Trying to quickly make 1k a month using that 10k could make you 10k poorer with nothing to show for it.

I realize the risk here, and I still may go the route you are suggesting. But I just wanted to get some ideas and insight.

Maybe I should have left out the personal sob story and just asked people what they would do with a $10K starting budget lol.

No, the story is important and highlights that you are relying on that 10k to survive. That is very different to having 10k to throw around to try and make something work. The 10k should be strictly used for survival, imo.

I would write down all your strengths and see if any of those are in demand that others would pay money for. Build a service around it in order to bring money in. You can then expand into affiliate stuff but you really want to nail down consistent cashflow. I don't see it happening with affiliate marketing right away.

Well, technically I have a few months. Once my permit ends, I can still stay in the country as a tourist with a US passport for 180 days. Since I don't have a job, I was going to spend 24/7 getting things going.

Also, I apologize if I didn't clarify well enough. I have more money saved, enough that should last me until I am booted out of the country. I just plan to use an additional $10k for affiliate marketing.

If you left off the sob story your thread would of been deleted. Their are multiple threads here with I have X amount of money how can I make $1.00 $100 or $10 grand in so many days.

Have you looked at other company's in your country that could use your skill. Can you reach out to the conciliate or embassy and tell them your situation. They might be able to point you in direction to get hired there so you can stay. Good luck.

Technically I could, though there is a hard cap on the amount of foreigners that local businesses can hire here. I could use my 6 months of visitor stay searching for a local job, but there is no guarantee I would find one.

IMO, I'd be better served trying to set up my own source of income. Of course, I could look for a local job while I'm doing that too.

Can you break out of your comfort zone and beat the pants off hundreds (if not thousands) of competitors? if yes, then 10k isn't a bad amount to invest; otherwise, not. You may have to spend quite a lot of time in soul-searching beforehand: finding proper business model which suits your skills, passion and education.

I have friends in several countries that quickly got jobs teaching English. You not only get some income but you have an in-demand job that gives the country incentive to keep you there. (This doesn't work in all countries of course.)

If you made money at affiliate marketing in the past you are way ahead of most people that want to start out. That doesn't mean you can start making 1k a month. Honestly, that is too unrealistic for most people in a short amount of time. If you have had success with PPC and you have start-up funds there might be a chance.

Realistically you just might be better off to start packing your bags. Rushing into trying to make money almost never ends well.

Yeah, the circumstances definitely aren't ideal but it's worth a shot.

But entertain me for a bit...any basic suggestions for PPC? PPC was definitely what I was most comfortable with (using Clickbank, Peerfly, and Maxbounty) but I was using Google then. They've obviously cracked down on affiliate marketing since then.

I've read around the board that Bing is a lot easier...but nowhere near the same traffic. Do you think I could hit $1K/mth with 1 successful campaign, depending on the niche? That was doable on Google pretty easily.

  • It takes time or money to make money.
It's good to start a business if you have some initial investment (which doesn't have to be too much).
Here we are going with an example: CPA marketing.
I assume you only provide leads for at least $3 a lead.
According to my expectations (and a little experience), a lead is going to cost you around $1.5 which gives the ROI of 100% (3-1.5) a month.
Let's say you start with $600 of capital and buy some clicks from solo ads providers, for the first month, you will have a total of $600*100% +$600 (your capital)= $1200.

Because you will continue to reinvest what you get on a period basis, within 6 months you will have a total amount of $600*2^6 = $38400 .You can do this only business during all your life's time and make millions.

I'm in the eCommerce space - currently a Shopify Partner/Expert. You can consider Shopify Dropshipping - basically setting up your own online shop to sell products at a higher price that you will buy from a different site like Aliexpress - you will not need to purchase the inventory upfront.

Startup cost is very little compared to the budget you have. If you have time to learn it, I highly suggest you do that as I've been in the backend of a couple of Shopify Dropshipping stores that make consistent 1k-10k revenue monthly.

Yes, you can makey with it - just like any other online business. But not as easy as it sounds so don't ignore red flags.

Keep in mind you do not NEED $10k to start online - you can get into affiliate marketing for much less - or most other methods. I'd advise you to avoid any method that starts with "for $XXXX you can....".

I agree with others who say don't blow the $10k online and leave nothing for survival....but you can start with far less and have enough to get by for 6 months or more. That's enough time to get an idea of what you are ABLE to do.

    good luck

Hi DWolfe, I did not intend it as self promotion, but to establish a certain "authority" of what I'm suggesting to ChadOath. If I was planning to promote my business in any way here on the forums I would blatantly put it as my username.

I worked with clients with their Shopify stores, and Shopify has their own program called Shopify Partners - and I'm just one of the thousands of Shopify Partners. In the terms of establishing the "Expert" part, I have worked currently with 30+ Shopify stores now in the past 2 years, I started working with ecommerce sites since 2007.

    Hey,

I would start by scouring craigslist for remote gigs. You can actually find a bunch of poor paying writing/design/wp type jobs that will be a sh*tty grind at first but should get you past that 1k nut and at the same time start building your portfolio and perhaps a new career. I started as a freelance writer working for pennies at content mills, but it was just enough to pay the bills and start building a kick-ass portfolio.

    Also,

This may help. There are Social Media and Web Evaluators (algorithm data providers) for Facebook and Google like Appen and Lionsgate ... I did it for supplemental income. It's around 1200$ a month at roughly 4-hours per day. You would need a solid VPN like strong client though, as they expect that you are in the US. You basically just rate how posts make you 'feel' and they use the data to adjust how things appear on timelines and such (super easy).

    Hope that helps!

ChadOath , If I were in your position, and know what I know now, I would first determine what I really wanted to do. So, you could do affiliate marketing (CPA or otherwise), ecommerece, Info/Expert business, service business, etc.

If you want to do affiliate marketing as you have done that in the past (i'm guessing in the Google Cash era), things have changed. Someone who has kept up and built good businesses is Andre Chaperon. His programs can be found here (NOT AN AFFILIATE LINK) --> https://tinylittlebusinesses.com/

If you want to go into CPA marketing, two people who have put out a lot of value that I'm aware of are Charles Ngo --> https://charlesngo.com/ & Malan Darras --> https://www.malandarras.com/. There are others out there, and some paid fourms that you can be a part of.

If you are going to go into ecommerce either dropshipping or otherwise, there are many guys on YouTube that share the basics of getting started, and there are a multitude of courses out there for each methodology. I liked Tanner Larsson's book Ecommerce Evolved to get an understanding of building 'funnel' based ecommerce, rather than 'traditional' ecomerce stores. (AGAIN, NOT AN AFFILIATE LINK) --> https://ecommerceevolvedbook.com/get-it-free

If you want to build an 'expert/info/consulting/coaching' business with some skill or knowledge you have, then Russell Brunson's books Expert Secrets and Dot Com Secrets would serve as good foundations to get you started (These would also help with affilate marketing if you can mentally translate the processes to affiliate marketing) The books can be bought from the following links, upsells are NOT necessary in the beginning, but it is entirely up to you how you want to go about things (NOT AFFILIATE LINKS) --> https://expertsecrets.com/freebook & https://dotcomsecretsbook.com/get-it-free

If you want free information on building an online biz either as an affiliate or an 'expert', you would like Miles Beckler's stuff. He doesn't have anything to sell in the Internet Marketing space, but has built an info biz with his wife in the meditation niche. His website and channel are at --> https://www.milesbeckler.com/ & https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7R...JKrg/playlists

All the very best on your journey.

    Hi Chad,

I am sorry to hear about your current situation, and I must say that I understand your urge to make a $1000 monthly income.

I'll try to give you the best advice possible.

Now before I do, I would like you to know that it is pretty risky to focus all your efforts on building a stable online business on such a short term that will provide you with the needed income. There are tens of thousands of people working as online marketers nowadays, which means that the competition is fierce. That doesn't mean you can't make money online, but it is a risk on such a short term.

I hope you weigh out your options carefully before you start investing in an online business. Maybe it's easier for you to sort out what talents you have and in what industry you could provide some value and offer your services as a freelancer to potential customers OFFLINE.

Like Janice Sperry said in one of the previous comments, maybe you could offer English classes to the citizens of the country you're currently in or perhaps you have another skill set which you could offer to start to start making some quick money.
Or maybe you could search on Craigslist and similar sites for jobs to make some quick cash.

The truth of the matter is that you'll have to be patient when trying to make money online. Not only because of the competition, but it also takes a lot of trial and error, a certain investment of time and money, and the ability to brand and promote yourself to gain trust from the potential customers you're trying to reach.

Now, if you are willing to invest the needed time and money, and you're ready to go through the process of trial and error or if you're confident enough about your skills and your learning curve than there are a lot of ways to make money online.

But the question I would ask myself first before deciding which online marketing biz opp to promote or how to make money online is, what do I have a passion for or what can I do comfortably for the next few months even if there are a lot of bumps in the roads.

Whatever your choice is, it is crucial to go with something that you're passionate about otherwise you're almost certainly going to fail in the long run. Not because of your lack of skills but because of the hassles you'll encounter along the way along with your lack of passion for what you're trying to do.

It is much easier to stick with something if you're passionate about it, even if it's difficult and you don't succeed right away!

Choosing something that you're passionate about will maximize the possibilities of success.

Once you've sorted out what your passion is, you can choose to start dabbling in an online business in my opinion.

To give you an exact option as to what you should do to earn online is very difficult as there are various biz opps, niches, and products you could make money with on the internet. Many of the options out there DO work. The only thing is that now you'll have to go through the process of trial and error in order to make money online.

I know your question was more about which marketing strategies are profitable and not which biz opps or offers you should go with, I just thought it was necessary to point out the above.

When talking about which marketing strategy works nowadays you may not like my answer as it is very global, but it's the truth; there are various profitable marketing strategies you could implement to make money online. A lot of them work, you'll just need to get good at one of them.
But there is a sidenote to be mentioned here: paid traffic acquisition methods ALWAYS trump free traffic acquisition methods. That's simply because free traffic acquisition strategies take time, something which you don't have a lot of at the moment.

(Paid ) Traffic sources that I use and many other successful marketers I know are sources like, Solo Ads, PPC ( be it Google Adwords or Facebook ), banner advertising, and paying social influencers to promote you on Instagram. I would say that these 4 strategies are 4 of the most prominent and effective ones nowadays.

If you have enough time available to read next to setting up a business, I would recommend you to buy the following books as they have helped me in the past to start making money online:
    - "The 4 hour work week" by Tim Ferriss
    - "Making them believe" by Dan S. Kennedy
    - "Expert Secrets" and "Dot Com Secrets," both by Russell Brunson

I've seen some people talk about drop shipping in this thread and I would like to comment on that as well.
Drop shipping has its potential, but it would take time to earn money with that. Maybe even more time than with affiliate marketing. If you choose to do online marketing of any kind, you're better off promoting a high ticket product in my opinion. What I mean by this is a product with a high-end price tag. These will give you the biggest return on investment simply because your costs for advertising are going to be the same regardless of what offer, niche or biz opp you're going to promote. But when you promote a high ticket product you're profits are going to be much higher. If I were you, I would also choose a high ticket offer that is newbie friendly in the sense that it's already ( mostly ) set up for you so that you could get started right away.

That's my take on the subject my man!

Whatever you do, think it through, go with something you're passionate about and be determined. Also, be careful with people who approach you to promote their offers, as there are some people out there who don't care about helping you out of your current situation.

Anyway, the best of luck to you and I hope you find something that suits you and which you could be successful at!

    Godspeed!

I recommend you to invest your money on a good peer to peer lending platform, for $10K you might get more than $1K in return per month.

Once you get the profit, invest more on a good startup.

All the best for your future ahead.

    Kind regards,

    Every business needs a:

    Lead Generation System

    Qualifying System

    Closing System.

"Instant cashflow" is a pipe dream without these systems. Go build them. The secret is not in the thing you're selling. It's in these systems.

I can't give you a 100% proven way to make 1k a month and I think that no one can...

All I can say is this: pick something that you are REALLY passionate about and try to build a successful business on the long run. Starting a business with the sole purpose of making money will lead to failure.

    Sigh....

I guess once again it falls to me to be the voice of reason.

Chad buy a ticket and return to the US

Then get a job or go to a small town where you can live for less than $1,000 per month (preferably both)

You are entertaining and others are entertaining you with a day dream. You got a job because when you last tried IM YEARS (your emphasis not mine) ago it wasn't stable enough but now

with no stated niche, no stated skill, no stated products, an out of date understanding of IM and a blank piece of paper business plan (except one that supposedly will be provided by a bunch of anonymous forum posters) you seriously expect to not only succeed in IM where many others (even on this board and no doubt even some posting in this thread ) have failed but do so in a few week with complete stability of income each month.

Have ten thousand to burn? go to Vegas or give it to a charity. The first will be more fun than your present high risk gambit and the latter will be more meaningful.

If you have fallen in love with the place then leaving and returning will probably give you more time on a visa. If you have fallen in love with someone there then marry them and return so that when your risky play ends you can both as newly weds do better than sleeping under a cardboard box.

I've never done it myself but just wondering if you can start your own gofundme campaign.

I know it's a silly suggestion especially figuring out what will you provide in return to your investors.

BTW, if you're in t-shirt designing then there's a website called teespring. You ca get started for free. Design and start selling it. Again, I don't think that it will give you results immediately.

However, just to give you a nudge, there are few tips shared by successful teespring user, Alison Scott that how she managed to design and sell t-shirts successfully on this platform.

If you're interested, you can read the interview here: http://theusualstuff.com/alison-scot...ing-interview/

I hope this will give you a good idea of starting and running custom designing t-shirt business.

Start with Android apps. Very few competitors at present, loads of potential and very less investment necessary to start. U do need to do some hard work though in order to be successful and then its all passive income in future.

As I've understood from your first message, you are a kind of a person who prefers stable 9/5 over an unstable world of online business, so your choice should be pretty obvious - getting a job.
It's a lot easier to turn your $1k/mo into $2k/mo than starting from scratch.

    Hey Chad,

reading your story reminded me of my own, a few years back.
On my side I was following not a job but some love interest and also I was implementing Tim Ferris's first opus (previously mentioned in this thread).

The 180 days sounds like the European rule, so I'm assuming you're in Europe. Good call, I love the place!

From all previous posts, my favorite is Jason Kanigan's. Simple, to the point! Ignore at your own risk ... Especially the last phrase in his post.

Your next move will depend a lot on your current skill set.
Myself being a coder with an entrepreneur's mind (read: don't like working for someone else), I like the concept of "building assets" more than "selling other's assets for a cut". This reflects my current skill set, also my personality. Your "success" and/or "happiness" formula will be different ...

Also, add to your equation the startup concept of "burn rate". Consider yourself as a startup.
    So you are a startup.
Your current assets are: $10k, 180 days, your current location.
How best can you use those assets to generate revenue to become self-sustainable.
You generate revenue by providing others with "value". High enough value that they are willing to pay YOU to get that value.

I understand this all sounds like theory, but you do have to make some hard decisions, and fast, and live with the consequences.
Just be very careful with your current assets, they are not renewable (especially time), so all I can say is "follow your heart", and be ready to jettison some path/method which wastes your time and/or money, BE ruthless with those time(and money) wasters ...
    Good luck !!

PS. Sorry, there is no magic pill that I have encountered and to which I can simply apply $10k and would solve this problem. Time, effort ... and lots of luck ... are still required

    Chad,
I can truly relate to your current circumstances. I have several suggestions that you might find beneficial:
    1. Read the "Laptop Millionaire", it has been the most inspirational Internet Marketing book I've ever read.
    2. If you have the inclination, it may be possible to take some college classes which may allow you to get a student visa.
    3. As mentioned previously, you could simply cross the border of the country you are in, spend a few days somewhere else and then return (this is a technique that man ex-pats use in Thailand).
    4. I have a website that details nearly a dozen different online/IM businesses that cost NOTHING to start. If interested, PM with your email address and I'll send you the link to it.
    Wishing you the best,
    David/amdownsouth

I knew of some people in a similar situation, I guess. You could write about the country, traveling, living and traveling frugally, etc. Then create an ebook, or several. It funded their living expenses. They actually recorded via a mic, then had someone transcribe it for them.

You could start a school teaching English. Maybe, if it is a popular place, have people from the US fly out to learn the language. You set up the home-stays with local people. I actually was a customer of such a place.

You could be a foreign news correspondent or write for an English newspaper/ezine.

Export from the country you are in to the US. Especially textiles seem to do well.

Look for other expats in the country. See if there are any jobs or partnerships that you could do. There's always a place where English-speaking people hang out.

If you have a HubPages account you could write for them. You probably wouldn't make $1000 a month, but you could pull in a couple hundred or more a month.

What country are you in by the way? It may help with the answers.

Oh, by the way. Most expats that I knew made their money in expat-friendly bars and restaurants. Depends where you are though.

You could also offer tours to tourists, if you know the area well. Maybe there are a few tour agencies looking for such a person as yourself.

if I were still running banner ad campaigns I could clone a campaign out and give you a 30%+ ROI but even then you'd still have to deal with the payment schedule that's often 30 days+.

Find a remote freelance job in your field in the states. Maybe if corp-to-corp is a thing where you are you could squeeze a consulting/freelance in the country where you're at.

Hello. Warrior Plus is hot right now. Look at the top 10 products that are selling on Warrior Plus us for the last 7 days, the lat week and the last month. This will give you a basic idea of what people are buying. Pick something out of that group that you have passion, ability and where there demand.

Get a mind map software, (in which there are some that are free.) do research on your product based on what problem you are helping people to solve. Make an outline and have a main topic and 5 points to talk on. Do a screen cap video of you talking about the 5 points. include a PDF document or a cheat sheet.

This could be your intro offer.

Then do an upsell of a videos walking people through the process in more detail. For $27-$47

Then do another upsell in the $97-$197 range. This could be a months worth of calls explaining the process in detail over the phone, in a webinar, or on Skype.

Put that up on Warrior Plus. Now you will have a list of buyers that you can sell affiliate offers to.

    Hope that helps. Good luck.

    Hi Chad,

I feel compassion for you dude, which is why I will be as honest as possible

This post reeks of desperation - and I do understand why - and desperation repels money, whether 5 cents or 5 million dollars or 1K a month....so......go back home, get a job doing anything, then work your way into a job where you can make more money, then save up, then start your online business from a calm, confident, clear space, so you focus on learning the ropes and rendering service, so you can build a sustainable business and offer value, so you will never find yourself in this crazy situation again.

    Ryan

PS....when you take a few deep breaths, relax a bit and pull back...after reading this post you will say to yourself: "What the hell am I doing?" Goodness knows I did when I made the shift from fear to love, online, and throughout my life, when I saw the stuff I tried to do a decade ago.

hey dude, i will suggest you to keep this job first, as the first source of your incomes, and by the way, try to learn more on mobile marketing, and then when you will be more build, you could run a good mobile campaign, cause let's be honest, your budget is really high for you to run a great campaign, so take time, read, learn more on this, and in some months, you could make it!! try to maximize on something stable!!

Unfortunately there is no "surefire" way to make $1,000 in a month. It will probably take you at least a month to test & tweak everything before you start scaling up.

If you have $10K to invest, you can easily make $1K per month.

Actually, you can make more than that amount.

Here's what you can do with $10K to get that passive income stream going

Pick an arbitrage service partner in a high demand niche - the niche must be so hot as to allow $300 to $600 mark ups.

Set up a satellite network of 100 sites with 1 page design for the their sales pages.

Install wordpress on your satellite pages

Reverse engineer ANCHOR content for each site (3 is plenty)

Set up Hootsuite to AUTOPROMOTE your 100 sites

Set up Facebook pages for each site. Build up your following through FB group postings. Load up with authority building content and use your 300 anchor content posts

    Collect emails with each site

Promote via AR through your emails

Call email recipients to action to share your stuff via social media

Hire a VA to pump traffic through static comments

How much would this all cost? LESS than $10K and 1K is pretty much guaranteed.

I wouldn't not encourage someone in your position to invest your last $10K into anything just like that are you may find yourself in a worst position than you are in now.
It is not easy to just earn $1000 Monthly just like that, there are many variables to consider and processes to go through to establish your self in the Internet marketing Space.
I suggest you send out your resumes and search job sites for a job back home in the meantime.

May I suggest you attend some online business courses and get the right coach to guide. Its sound simple in online business, but the reality it is not that simple. You required to invest your time to learn before you can earn. Trust me.

Sounds like you are all over the place...

It would probably be a good idea to slow down and regroup yourself. And extend your visa as a tourist while you figure things out. I am not suggesting that you slow down, only that you get clear (and realistic).

Perhaps you should go back to what you know (affiliate marking), and at the very least, don't burden yourself with the "need" to make $1k per month. Instead, focus on making one dollar as you re-acclimate. Once you get back into the swing of things, you can you can tweak what you are doing and turn that dollar into two, or ten, or 100. Then you can repeat the process of whatever you are doing again and again.

    Kick some butt!
