Excellent Rankings, But No Description?

One of my wordpress sites ranks quite well for a very highly searched term, but even though I used All-In-One SEO plugin and entered in the correct lengths of title, description, keyword, goog/yahoo still spit out the site like this:

blah site name
http://blahsitename.com

with no description and a title that isn't nearly as good as I actually have on the site.

How can I get google to recheck for my site info? Or is there something I'm doing wrong? This never used to happen for me but seems to have started right around when I started using Google XML Sitemaps.

You may want to try setting up Google Webmaster's Tools and adding your site. It's all free and doesn't take more than a couple of minutes.

First step then would be to re-submit your sitemap, but there's also a heck of a lot of information on how to make sure your site is found and does well in the search results.

It does take a while, though, for Google's cache of your site to be updated. It looks like they crawled your site before you had the All-in-one set up and what you're seeing now is what they cached on that crawl.

re-submitting your site map is a way of getting them to come and visit sooner than they might otherwise do, but it will still take time I'm afraid.

    Cheers,

    Martin.

I had google do that to me recently .. Brand new domain name listed top position in 1 day and looked normal. 2 days later it is still listed but the title now says "untitled" ... Maybe I made google angry with my domain name, who knows...lol

But sounds like Martin that posted above there has some good advice ..

I think I figured it out. For some reason all the sites in question were set to block all search engine traffic (Settings -> Privacy). I then followed Martin's advice and re-submitted the sitemap for each site (I suspect the robots.txt was blocking the search engine from accessing the sitemap).
