      I *think* it was....

For that kind of money I'll get him a fake ID, a bottle of bourbon, and a hooker. Hope he doesn't give all of his money away - in 10 years he'll be 70 and broke -

      Amy,
What's your guesstimate on how long it will take to reach the 2,000,000 post?
I've been watching this. At the current rate of growth, I'd estimate 9-11 months.

Took 7 years to get the first million. It'll be a lot less for the second.

      Tony,
Maybe a counter on the forum would have forewarned of the impending millionth post
It's there. Right on the front page.

        Nathan,
Somehow I get the impression that the
1MM post figure Allen is talking about has
        been generated since approximately
August 6, 2008 when the previous Snitz
powered forum was shut down... making
the milestone all the more spectacular.
Hmmm. Maybe. If that's the case, I need to adjust my prediction to 7-9 month for the second million.

          Paul,

You can use use your toes for counting since it will make it easier for you to make the estimate more accurate.

Allen congrats and you know Big Mike (hate to admit it) has a good idea about the Press Release. Why not run a contest for the best written press release? Talk about an avalanche of post.

Very Kool of Allen to throw such a random and generous prize out there to warriors like that!

Reminds me of one of those commercials when someone goes to the checkout stand at a store to buy something and the sirens and flashing lights start going off announcing "Your our 1,000,000 customer! Congratulations!"

I am making funny noises, however I was 4 years old in 1950! Paul Myers and Ken Leatherman may be the only other Warriors who remember when there were no computers smaller than an entire room, no cell phones, disposable lighters, passenger jets, cable, and there were 8 teams in the National League and 8 teams in the American League.

Oh yeah, amd we all rode horses to school

I'm born in 1954, so, while I may not remember the entire room ones being the only ones, I had my first computer experiences on a Digital Equipment PDP-11/45 running a timesharing operating system. We felt way ahead of the IBM supporters doing their batch prosessing.

Some years later I showed my students how to perform a calculation employing the switches and buttons of a front panel like the one laid out in the link below. By then my demonstration was more or less a curiosity. They had to tell me the result by reading the row of lamps showing the result in the binary system.

      The PDP-11 FAQ

This became a little off topic, but I got a little bit carried away.

Frank - I feel like the guy in the checkout lane who was purchasing a frozen pizza and a National Enquirer when the lights started blinking and the bells went off.

To thank Allen and the Warriors who have been so kind, I would like to offer a little sales advice from what I have learned over a 30 year career in face to face selling of services.

I know many of you are trying offline sales and have a fear of meeting business owners and selling them your internet expertise. This is such a perfect combination of skills and so badly needed. Trust me, small businesses need your help.

Keep in mind that you aren't going up to Mr. Big and trying to sell, him something. You have one job - to serve. Think - how can I best serve my fellow business owners. Remember that you are a business owner too. You have what they need.

Stop in a few places and let them know that you have what they need - the skill to create an internet presence that gets them leads and business fast. One , or two success stories and your confidence will grow and so will yur referrals - no more cold calling, or prospecting. They will be contacting you to do for them what you did for McCloud's jewelry store.

Once you have gained their Trust, you are on your way. You are the man, or the woman, they need to call. You don't have to be a fast talking, joke telling, backslapping fool - the old salesperson caricature. I rarely socialize and I am a quiet professional who has sold over 15 million dollars in service business and rank in the top 1% in my industry.

Know your stuff, be professional, think service, and always, always think and write and say YOU, not we, ocaasionally I, but emphasize how they benefit, how they will be growing their business, not how great you may be. It's all about them. Think of them as friends because they will be once they see you can be trusted and that you have their best interests in mind and that you are reliable and skilled beyond their level of expertise - which doesn't take much.

Always be truthful and honest with the desire to do the best job possible - not just getting a sale. Trust yourself first and those you choose to serve will trust you.

    Now go help someone!

Okay, now, if Waggenheim would have taken Friday morning and manually deleted all 13,000 posts he's got we'd have been down to about 999,999 posts and he could have made a quick post something like, "Newbie here, how can I make $10,000 a month in article marketing?"

Heck he could have outsourced his deletions for 25¢ apiece--let's see, that would have cost him about $3,500. How good of a computer is it Allen? If it was a Cray mainframe he'd be golden. If it's a NetBook thingie he'd be screwed.

Anyway, congrats to Thomas. Unexpected gifts are the very best kind, right? Extremely nice of Allen--class act!

      Congratulations on your win!

Don't know which of your posts was 1,000,000. If it's even close in quality to your S&M training post up-thread you're deserving qualitatively and quantitatively.

As I also turned four in 1950, I share some of your memories--I think.
