I heard somebody said that :"all the free traffic is trash" - What do you think?

What do you think about that? For me, i'm not agree with that at all

Because i'm making sales by free traffic.

Free traffic even better than paid traffic in some ways.

For example: if you have a successful Youtube chanel, your traffic from that audience

is really hot, they gonna buy things fast because they know who you are through your

video series.

- That's what i think, and actually free traffic is not real FREE, it takes time, and time is more valuable than money.

    When I hear someone use a blanket statement like that, I look to see what replacement they're trying to sell me.

    "All free traffic is trash" = Buy my ads instead.

    "Email is dead" = Buy my desktop push widget instead. (Or my SM marketing service, etc.)

    If there's nothing for sale (very rare), I just mark it down to ignorant trolling, looking for attention like a toddler pitching a fit in a grocery store.

    This term is usually from those who perceive how to avail 'paid traffic'.

    Their business model is different. Through paid traffic , it is easy for them to earn fast. I'm also interested in the 'paid model' more now.

    No, it's not all trash.

    The traffic source matters, of course. How good of a match-up is it with your ideal customer? If it's way off, you're going to need a lot of it and to filter heavily to get buyers. If it's a good match, like forum traffic was for me for years, then your qualifying is pretty much done for you by the time they get to your platform.

    As others have pointed out above, you need to learn who to listen to. "Who do you listen to?" is one of the big questions in marketing and in life...and ultimately the answer is "yourself". So when you hear blanket statements like the one prompting this thread, ask yourself:

    "Who is saying this?"

    and

    "What's their agenda?"

    If the answer is some anonymous persona...or someone who has a related offer for sale...

    ...then they have an agenda. And that agenda could well be to turn your head around to the point of view they want you to have.

    We're all trying to sell. I'm trying to sell you on a self-protective mental process here. Be aware of it. Awareness is the best defense.

    To my mind, that's completely NOT true.
    If you manage to do sales with free traffic, that means you are doing things right and you can reach the audience that is interested in your content, services, products etc. What's more, free traffic requires much more time and efforts than a paid one.

    Free traffic can be just as good as paid and in some cases much better.

    However, for most, it is probably fairly limited and for many, I would suspect that they would likely make more money with a minimum wage job.

    I don't know much about other sources in-depth as much as YouTube, but I can tell content marketing, especially YouTube videos, works, if you don't want to pay for traffic upfront. Free and easy don't go hand-to-hand; Building traction organically is the hardest form of Internet marketing I believe, but its totally passive, no need to monitor stats all the time, worry about the conversions etc. Most people can't produce good videos because of the steep learning curve and natural talent. If you can overcome those shortcomings, you can build your reputation much faster and reach a greater audience pool in a very shorter amount of time. Just my two cents.

    That being said my wife placed a $35 Facebook ad and made $700 the other week.

    Not at all, free traffic could be great as well. Remember there are several ways to get free but targeted traffic. Of course the best option would be to go with paid advertising but free traffic could be profitable as well.

    Glad you mentioned this. Because the word "FREE" is always relative in context.

    About the only thing FREE in making money is winning the Lotto. And even that takes some work when trying to KEEP it and not lose it to relatives, cons,bad investments, etc..etc..

    While beggars can't be choosers, there are some free traffic that can bring results. But that's usually because you've invested time in building a blog or a youtube channel.

    There are some relatively notorious methods like the traffic exchanges but, if you're new, you might want to give them a try to see if your landing page can generate any interest at all above and beyond the obligatory click. These exchanges also have paid opportunities if you are in a hurry to find out.

    Frankly, my worst traffic comes from various membership groups I have joined over the years. Your mileage may vary.

    Bottom line, the best way to answer the question for you personally is to try various methods for yourself. I'm sure most of us would be interested in hearing about your results.

    When it is about traffic, we can't conclude whether it is trash or not. Free traffic is organic traffic which is a result of your backlink building activities right! This traffic has possibilities of converting into leads.
    In the opposite scenario, paid traffic is a trash according to me.

    Who ever said something like that probably still believes in the tooth fairy and the Easter bunny.

    Maybe they bought into some idea where they could get 10 K views to their site for just $5.

    Hi, organic and paid traffic, both have their pros and con. Organic is actually not free as you spend your time & effort but this traffic will be more long term if you get the correct audience. While paid traffic is faster and usually targeted leads but when you stop paying then the traffic ends. You are good and did the right way to get your subscribers keep flowing in. Cheers

    I completely disagree with that statement.

    The first part is determining where that "free traffic" is coming from.

    If you're going around sending out 1000 cold scraped emails, and spamming Facebook Groups in hopes of generating "Free traffic" then yes it will most likely be trash because you're trying to get something from nothing.

    However, if you spend the time to grow a free audience like you mentioned like on a YouTube channel, growing an engaged Facebook Group, Culminating an instagram following, by providing people valuable content then that traffic will translate into money every time. I've made money using all of those "free traffic" methods I just mentioned.

    My guess is that the person saying that free traffic is trash, is probably marketing like trash and that's why they get trash results

    I agree and disagree.
    Let me explain.

    What I mean is sure free traffic (good SEO)
    Will bring results there is no question about that.
    it's just a question of time and a lot of effort.

    But to get more prospects and people to your youtube/website/facebook etc etc.
    Most of the time the best way is founded traffic.
    You just need to test few platform if it's solo ads, AdWords, FaceBook ads, etc..
    And not quit after 3-4 times you try.

    Because a lot of times when you won't get prospects from fund ads, it doesn't mean that the source is not good but could be your site or youtube channel maybe the ad itself that it's not getting the right attention.

    Try to read some goods books about copy read one or two, then try to write a new ad and go for it. didn't work after few times write a new ad and try again until you hit the target.

    And if you have lousy (oops trashy) targeting , .
    then that traffic will only be as good, lousy, or trashy as your targeting.

    Sure, is free traffic a little hard to learn because there's so much noise?
    Yes.

    But if you learn to do it right . . . yes, you CAN monetize free traffic . .

    I have several free traffic sources that do well for me . . .

    My youtube channel does really well for me
    My forum posts like this do well
    and my articles on ezinearticles continue - years later - to generate traffic

    The quality of traffic does not belong to the money or not spent in it, but to the source.

    The source means if there's a match between your audience and the traffic you're generating or buying.

    Even, if not more, paid traffic can be trash: think of buying solo ads from a fake vendor, or buying traffic generated by bots.

    So the question has nonsense.

    Okay, so what?

    If you get a part-time job at the local grocery store and they pay you $8/hour for 4 hours per day... is that not a free marketing technique? You spend your time, the money is guaranteed, you get it every week, and you can re-invest it back into your online business.

    Free marketing is super valuable. It lowers your overall cost of getting a customer.

    Is paid instantaneous?

    I've spent fortunes on paid traffic and I can honestly say by the time you test headlines, images and traffic sources that it's not instant.

    That's before you even consider the lifetime value.

    Yes paid tends to be quicker and in general it's easier to scale but it's misleading to imply that you only pay with your time on free traffic. paid traffic also takes time. If you don't believe me do a search and see how many people waste time and money on solo ads and Facebook ads.

    In fact with social media you can get traffic quicker than with paid after you've built up your base.

    I am making more than $5k a month from my Facebook page that has 1.8M followers without paying a dime. I don't know what they mean by free traffic.

    I agree to John McCabe. The person who says such a statement is either trying to sell you something or doesn't know how to get free targeted traffic. He must have tried some "Unlimited Free Traffic Hack" that is being taught by all the so called 'Gurus'.

    Traffic is worthless, no matter whether it is free or paid, if it is not targeted. You can try some trick to get a whole lot of traffic to your landing page, but if they don't convert, then it is a waste of your bandwidth.

    Suppose you are running a popular YouTube channel on a particular niche or a newsletter with thousands of subscribers. If you send them to your offer page, that is in the same niche, then that FREE traffic is worth a lot than paid non targeted traffic.

    But consider that your YouTube channel and newsletter is about Pilates and you send them to a landing page about hi-end lawn movers, then that FREE traffic is pretty useless.

    So only if you consider the source of your traffic, you'll be able to say whether the FREE traffic is valuable or not.

    The real question is if the traffic is targeted or not.

    You can have millions (even billions) of website visitors who are untargeted and disinterested, in which case yeah that traffic is absolutely useless lol.

    However, you could also have 10 unique visitors who are highly targeted, (also free), and that traffic could be worth a small bundle of glistening diamonds.

      But ok, traffic, l use free traffic all the time, but not BS traffic from Youtube, and social media, but paid Adwords traffic from someone else.

      Graphicriver and Creativemarket, both have paid traffic, but free for me, and l am getting enough sales to keep going, so it works for me.

    The best traffic is both ORGANIC and TARGETED! It matters not what you pay (if anything) but HOW that traffic comes in.

    Before trying to get traffic, check to see HOW the traffic is garnered and how close to ORGANIC and TARGETED it is.

    Someone searching for "car insurance australia" is a very targeted lead to your website, and if you can get them via organic search, it is without doubt the best way to get traffic.

    To me all traffic is good, as long as it is targeted to your niche.

    I would rather get one hundred people per day--that were targeted to my niche then a bunch of cheap traffic that does nothing but click away from my site.

    If you are not converting with all those traffic, then, yes, those traffic are trash. You have to review your web content/s to see if you are targeting the for the right audience. Review your keywords and see if you are really targeting profitable keys and not just targeting those that would only want information.

    Free traffic is actually some of the best converting when it comes from social media (Facebook, Instagram, Blog, YouTube). The biggest issue with free traffic is scaling it to the point where are you are getting enough consistent lead flow.

    All free methods will take time to build up a big enough audience to start generating enough leads. It will probably take several months and possibly years to build up a targeted audience. If you are serious about this method pick one and master it!

    FREE traffic is not trash! As a matter of fact, if it is targeted it can be some of the best converting traffic out there!

    The challenge is generating enough leads and scaling. It is not impossible, but it does take time, several months to several years. Most people will not stick with a method long enough to master it and will jump from method to method, never mastering any of them.

    There are tons of examples of people making multiple six figure incomes from FREE traffic. Pick one that resonates with you and master it.

    Depends of the type of free traffic. There are websites that generate lots of traffic and don't spend a dime on it. As long as the traffic is fairly targeted, then it can be valuable. Free traffic of the wrong sort is another issue altogether.

    Free traffic is free of spending money but it does take a more valuable costs which is time. I believe paid traffic is a lot more direct and converting because one you find lucrative converting keywords PPC is like a sales switch.

    Am I "free" or "paid"?
    Say, you're selling what I need. Either you've invested your time, effort and money into creating a Facebook group, and I will visit it "for free", or I will just click your ads.
    Am i "trash"? No, I'm not.
    Free traffic means that you spend time, sometimes a lot of time.
    Paid traffic means that you spend money.
    I, your visitor, don't care what exactly you spend. I just stumble upon your blogpost or sales page.

    Some free traffic methods can make you as much or more than paid methods so no, I definitely wouldn't say that. But either way, free traffic methods do take time and that's how you can see if it's worth it, if you're making a decent amount per hour you are working on the method.

    It's all about the relationship with the list, you need to answer the W.I.I.F.M question.

    Give them what they are looking for and can't get anywhere else (the unique experience with you) and sell them the things they need.

    I disagree about free traffic being trash because if you are posting on forums related to your product or service and you have a signature that links back to your site, then those who click on your link are very curious as to what you have to offer.

    That is not trash traffic.

    PS. Forum traffic is just one method for free targeted traffic.
