Sorry if this question is dumb. What is a landing page?

What exactly is a landing page? I read the definition but I'm still confused on what exactly it is. Is it the front page of the website, is it the off-page on search results, or is it something completely different. Sorry for the possible dumb question just not sure

A landing page is the page people land on when they follow one of your links. It can be an opt-in page, a sales page, a blog post, etc.

It's a page your prospect "lands" at from somewhere else.

The landing page has a purpose. They're often called "squeeze pages" but not all landing pages are squeeze pages.

    Here is a description I like: https://instapage.com/what-is-a-squeeze-page-chapter-2

The landing page is basically the page a brand new visitor goes to from the link that you provide to them. The link itself can contain any kind of information on it. It's up to you to decide what you want to put on the page. But the landing page itself is just a declared page that someone clicks on to view your site.

First thing is that there is no question dumb. Every question gives us knowledge. So, A landing page is a webpage that is displayed when a potential customer clicks an advertisement or a search engine result link. This webpage typically displays content that is a relevant extension of the advertisement or link.

A landing page is any web page that a visitor can arrive at or "land" on. However, when discussing landing pages within the realm of marketing and advertising, it's more common to refer to a landing page as being a standalone web page distinct from your main website that has been designed for a single focused objective.
This means that your landing page should have no global navigation to tie it to your primary website. The main reason for this is to limit the options available to your visitors, helping to guide them toward your intended conversion goal.

    Hi Terrence Morrow,

At times understanding what a landing page is, becomes difficult.

Landing Page is a webpage on your website or outside your website, but owned and operated by you, where you want your visitors to land/visit.

If you are doing AdWords and want your leads to fill up a certain form, the web page for the form will become the landing page.

    Regards

Hi dude, i don't know how to really explain you this, but let me try as i can: You know when you are intending to promote an offer, you have the choice either to run it without redirecting people that click to your offer, on another page where you provide them more informations, but also you try to bring out of them the reasons they might need to afford your offer, this page normally can help you to collect their details, such as email, name, or phone numbers, that's something great for every marketer. this is what we call a landing page.

Hi, it's an optin page with a call to action for your leads to enter their emails to get into your sale page or main page where you recommend an offer through providing contents.
