The Process of Affiliate Marketing

Hello experts -

I've decided that I want to learn about Affiliate Marketing, I have to learn a ton and invest money/time.

Can you recommend a course step-by-step "how to" course? I need to learn skills such as automation process, how to choose the right products to promote, how to find a profitable niche, work on my websites, seo, also email Marketing, landing pages etc I am not looking for an overnight making money system, I know it might take me months to put it together.

Any advise I can get from you Id truly appreciate it as I am a total newbie (hopefully not for too long)

Have a wonderful day, Thank you

You can find the basic blueprint online for free. As a beginner, you want to keep things as simple as possible when you start out, then add the bells and whistles as your experience grows.

At its core, affiliate marketing is simply sending prospects to a vendor's sales offer in an open-to-buying frame of mind. If the prospect buys, you get a portion of the revenue for making the referral. That's it.

Truth be told, you aren't going to find one single course that competently covers all of the things you mentioned. Better to learn one simple method and add specific courses/manuals on the other subjects as you need them.

Before you lay money down, spend some time searching this forum. Look for people who appear to have knowledge in the area you currently are exploring, and seek out their products or recommendations.

Off-forum, I'd start by checking out Charlie Page, Marlon Sanders and Paul Myers. Myers, especially. Sign up for his TalkBiz News list, and you get a full-fledged (and aptly named) book called Need to Know.

I've been promoting affiliate / CPA offers for over 17 years and the most important skills you want to learn IMO is to cost-effectively generate traffic and build list(s). Everything else you could be mediocre at and you could still make money. Anyway, just something to keep in mind.

There are a lot of articles online, you can learn for free.

They are going to list step by step for you. You can just base on those steps and trying to go further

by go deeper into each step. using keywords etc...

For example: You saw - Step 3, create a queeze page, then you can type a keyword: How to create a squeeze page, or if you don't even know what it is, then type :"what is a squeeze page"...

Keep it simple is really important.

All your replies are extremely valuable, I really appreciate all the information you are sharing with me you are the experts, I dont understand some of the Internet marketing words you use but its good because It makes me google the word and I learn from you. If someone wants at some point to be my mentor and has the time, patience and enjoys doing it I will be happy to recognize your time obviously. And who knows maybe we can learn from each other.

Ive been checking some courses, I think Affilorama is the most adequate considering I am a total newbie and they make it so simple, I also like the customer support they offer. Is this a good choice in your opinion?

Do you know what traffic source (or sources) you are interested in?

This plays a large aspect imo.

Okay I went back into my Archives of my Online Newsletter and recently just pulled this out. ( And just copied it from my Follow Ups at Aweber.) Hope it can help with Product selection,
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

" Today I just wanted to go over what to look for in a Product that is of quality. And more specifically if you are in Affiliate Marketing what kind of Product do you look for that is good enough to promote to your Customers and that you feel very comfortable about its quality..

First of all, let me tell from my own experience there is a lot of garbage that people promote out there. I have bought a few that* really have no reason to be sold...... or at the very least should be sold at a fraction of its price..

The $3 Product I bought that was really Garbage

I remember about two years ago I purchased a program for $17. Basically it was a 6 page e-book that explained how you could go to college campuses and put out 1,000 fliers on students' desks and the students would read it before class started. On this flyer you would have a promotion like 'win a free i-pad' with your name and a Website.

So the students had to go to this website listed on the flyer and sign up. As a result, you would get like 3$ for each signup.

It was pretty decent I guess, if you wanted to scout out college campuses and sneak in flyers of a classroom.

But it should have been priced for about $3. I had seen this method before and it was nowhere worth $17 for 5 or so pages of a e-book. In my book that is 'garbage marketing'. I would not represent it as an Affiliate. Now Way !!

So what do you look for in a good product .

    1. Make sure the Product is something you know about and have some Passion about* -
If you know about playing golf and have extensive experience with it and have passion about it...then it will be easier to promote rather than not being familiar with the Product. If you are unfamiliar with Golf this will lead to a lot of research and information overload. I have done the latter before so it can be done. But all things being equal it is easier if you know what you are talking about (at a least a little bit.)

    2. Look for Quality - Bottom line is it a product you would offer your brother or best friend ? Or even yet buy yourself ?

3.Look for support - You need to make sure the product you want to promote has tools like Banners, email marketing templates, and general support on how to market the product. They usually have a private affiliate site for this purpose. The more tools and support offered the better.

    4. How does the product sell - Conversion rates are important. But to me knowing the past conversion rates on a Product is really low on my List. Some might disagree.* But my belief is that if you have a solid product that fits nicely with your customers and Subscribers then by educating them and explaining the benefits to them your Conversion rate should be good. Normally established products have a 5% to 10%* Conversion Rate. Which means for every 100 visits 5 to 10 end up buying the product your promoting.

5.What's the Cookie Life or Duration* - Most affiliate programs track with what they call 'cookies' which are placed on a visitors computer. It helps* identify you as the Affiliate so you can get paid a commission.
There is one important thing about 'cookies' with an affiliate program that you might look into.It will not break you if you can't or don't attempt to find it. But it doesn't hurt.................

    - The duration of the Cookie. If it is a short one then you need* to* promote the Product and make sales more quickly as to* earn a commission before the cookies expire. If it is a longer cookies duration then you can Market differently and spend more time without rushing to get the sale. And provide more
    *information and seem less desperate.

6.Can you earn backend commission and renewal Commissions-* Do you get commission when a 2nd product is purchased from the original person or your subscriber that you brought to the affiliate product in the first place.
Also, is there a recurring commission where you might have a monthly membership site that people buy ? In this case, you get a commission every month the customer stays as a member. This can be very lucrative and provides a nice stream of income.

    7.
Find some quality places that have many quality products to promote as an affiliate - Jv Zoo and Clickbank are two great places I go to find new and exciting affiliate products to promote. Commission Junction is another highly reputable Site.

    Conclusion.........
Just think about three programs you are promoting or want to promote and see if they match the Criteria I listed above. If they do then have a go at it* Action, Action, Action .....those words should effortlessly roll off your tongue.

what i could advice to you will be to learn what are the verticals that could be interesting for you to work with as an affiliate, but also, learn how to pick good offers, target the right audience, set a good prelanding page, learn more about traffic sources, and one thing but not the less, try to learn more on some tools that could be helpful for you to run your campaign, as you area beginner, i think this could be the right way to a great start ! Wish you luck buddy.
