For those of you who have achieved your income goal(s) ... Or maybe even surpassed them ... What single tip would you give to New People to help them succeed?

TIA

Understand that Traffic and Conversion are two separate things, and must be learned in order. You must first learn how to drive pre-qualified traffic. Then learn how to convert that traffic into sales. Newbies keep trying to smush them together into a single step, and fail.

Learn how to start, develop, and maintain relationships.

Whats that phrase... "Give a Man a Fish, and You Feed Him for a Day. Teach a Man To Fish, and You Feed Him for a Lifetime."

Its through relationship building that you develop a following, or a solid converting mailing list.. or a website with traction...

Its about seeing beyond the dollar to be made today, and see the dollars over a lifetime.

Understand that giving and giving, is needed to receive.

I'm going to buck the trend a little and start off with:

    1. Expect it to take at least 1-2 years to become a real business.. minimum.
    2. Try to move away from the IM niche if you can.
    3. Scour every small business forum you can find to discover problems business have.
    4. When you get that first client, treat them like gold, and don't look for another client until you've nailed the brief.. that first client is paying you to create your systems and processes, so give them more time than they're paying for, and better results than they expect.. that'll get you referrals, and help you to build a better base for the next client to stat from.
    5. Most important.. don't sell bullshit, keep it real, start small, and build slowly.. I've never seen a "fast" business grow into a "real" business.

Apologies Jonathon, wasn't a single tip, but couldn't help it.

Thanks People. : ) Great advice: Keep contributing
      .
Something from me would be to remember that when you're working on a Website/Venture//Etc. the more you work on something you're interested/passionate about ... The more productive you become.

Like I said before, discipline is like a muscle ― the more you work it, the stronger it becomes.

If you find a method that you like, be it blogging, videos, building an email list, etc.

Stick to it long enough to see if it is going to work.

If you get all excited about blogging, but, then drop it a week later--because you have not made boatloads of money--you will never build a real business.

I know it is supposed to be one tip but, my other tip is to treat whatever you do online like a business.

What I mean by that is, when you do something online--make sure you are prepared to work on it if not everyday--most days.

This does not mean you need to be glued to the computer all day--but, do something to move your business forward just about everyday.

    Hope this helps

Take criticism with a grain of salt. Meaning look at it closely, there are many people out there that just like to cause trouble and badmouth whatever people do, Your website doesn't look good, your writing isn't any good. Sometimes they will say if you haven't made any money by now you should quit or other negative things. Just remember not everyone learns or understands at the same rate and not everyone has the same amount of time to put towards doing IM. I know people who have taken years to make money and not much money at that but at least they figured out what they needed. Not every market is the same and often you have to figure out what that groups trigger is and it can be different. Remember to take a break so not to get burnt out if you are working on it all the time and don't be discouraged if you aren't making money as soon as you think you should and never give up you dreams and goals.

If you are into eCommerce I can give some tips, like The Follow up Module.

This module suppose sell the product for us, we could also call this the follow up circle sins the main goal is to get the customer to sell product for us in the end.

    The module in steps:
We design a good looking greeting card that goes with every sold product, this part is crucial sins we are asking them to go to our landing page and sign up to our new letter.
The landing page has to perfect also, this is where we ask them to give us there email, and we need to give them a reason to want to give us there email.
When they sign up, they go straight to the customer testimonial where they can see how AWESOME product truly is. (this will give them more reason to complete the circle later on)
We send out a thank you email straight after they sign up where we welcome them to the family and thank them for joining us. This part needs to be short and on point no need to make this email long, just plain and simple with an image of the people behind the product.
We send out an email at least once a week where we talk about how great our product is and why they should keep using it, we send them testimonials in each email.

Don't be afraid to spend some money.

It is good to be cautious but too many beginners never get any traction because they are trying to do everything for free. They also listen to marketers like one of the posters above that say you should learn to do everything yourself.

I doubt if Bill Gates has ever shot and edited a video commercial for Microsoft.

I doubt if Richard Branson has ever tightened a single bolt or painted one of his jets.

The word "investment" is in the acronym ROI. Always ask: Will spending this money get me more traffic? Build my brand? Improve my website? Help my audience/customers? Speed up or automate some of my tasks? Make me more money? Essentially another way to ask: In the long run will this investment pay for itself or even help me profit with money or save me time?

Bad plan: "I want to spend as little as possible and learn to do everything myself."

Your premise about "newbie investment" sounds like a black-and-white thinking. People fail mainly because they don't consider all sorts of factors and don't look at things from many points of views before arriving at what seems like the right decision. It may be due to the lack of experience.

It's fine that you don't want to slave away for the man in a 9-to-5 job and want to take matters into your own hands. But, how long can you slug out in the dog-eat-dog world with your minimum skills? Investment alone is never a solution unless you're very good at expending it.

Like it or not you need to work your tail off getting really good at something i.e. develop and market a product or service that customers really want.

Just focus on doing that and nothing else. Partner with some folks with complementary skill-sets, if you can't do it alone. If you come up with a good enough idea and there's strong demand, you'll be able to raise capital and turn your vision into reality.

If you fail, learn from it and try again until you get it right, or throw in the towel, at least for now, to get a job in the real world.

P.S. Bill Gates did some commercials with success, but its not his A job. As far as Virgin chief is concerned, he's is a great aviator and is well-versed of aircraft.

That's good advice especially considering that many New People want to do everything for free.

    TIA,

The biggest tip I would give a brand new person is find someone in your organization that is successful and model them. Don't copy them, but model what they do. Get on their list, get their email (model those), reverse-engineer their sales funnel, map out all the steps their funnel goes through, then model it for yourself. Follow them on social media, see what they do then model it.

Success leaves clues and the leaders are only going to do what works, so if they are doing it, it works!
