If it's for your bathtubs ecomm website, I'd probably go with a newsletter signup, selling a topic that's near and dear to your target demographic.

Why? Most people are going to leave your website straight away, and you'll be able to go back to the well if you have a decent newsletter that provides value. You'll also be able to cross-sell products or affiliate offers if you think they fit.

Your FB page already has a fair few likes etc, so probably not something you need to focus on.. and realistically, likes don't make you any money most of the time.

No its for another site. Its a website about sharing good deals and coupon codes, it also has a blog that shows review on some products that is also in the coupons etc...I will monetize it with affiliate marketing

    I’d say normally email.

When you blast email to your list, most will receive it.
When you post ok Facebook only a fraction will see your post.

Only a few percent of your likes will see your FB posts. So I would collect email sign-ups.

I would focus on email sign ups.

Once you have people on an email list you can connect with them again and continue to provide them with value.

Once you collect their emails you can create a custom audience in Facebook to run ads to them and you will naturally get likes to your page, not mention making lookalike audiences that will allow you market to even more people like them.

Email is much more valuable. Hope this helps

I'd opt for getting their email over a FB Like.

You'll get a better response emailing a 100 people than posting on your FB page with a 100 likes any day of the week.

Another thing you can do is get them to optin via email and then redirect them to an additional free offer where you can get them to "Like" to unlock an additional bonus or something.

If you do this, you're building your email list AND your FB fan page at the same time.

I do something similar and it's working great for me, currently.

  • Better use email. You will get all the notifications by email.

Facebook likes hardly any conversion and these fans usually stick around for free content. Email marketing is more for business and conversions will come in once you build the relationship and trust with your subscribers.

IMO, a newsletter signup is way better than a facebook like - there is no comparison - not even close. The "why" should be obvious.

If it was me, I'd definitely go with collecting the email since for myself personally, I value converting traffic into traffic I own more than FB engagement. I'd go with collecting the leads!

    E-mail.

Every single day of the week. Zuck might wake up one day and shut down your page for shits and giggles (slightly joking)

You have minimal control over your FB page, whereas you can control what happens with your e-mail list

    Imza86,

You should have some type of lead magnet that you give away in exchange for an email address, so they will sign up for your newsletter (ethical bribe). Once they opt-in then the thank you page can go to a video explaining what they signed up for, who you are and their next step (make sure they are getting your emails, like my facebook page (link below) for additional free content. That way you get both their email address and they become a Facebook fan.
