How do I get started online marketing?

I need help getting started online marketing.
I have been searching high and low for answers and all the videos and articles have people saying they have all the answers and bullet proof methods but don't say anything informative. Then at the end they say in order to learn what they do you need to purchase their book or online courses.
I work a dead end job and live in my mother's basement so I am very eager to learn but just need someone to teach me. In high school I took all advanced classes and had a 4.0 GPA so I am capable to learn and learn quickly.
I know the only way to live comfortably in today's world is to have multiple avenues of income and to have passive income and I feel that this is the best way to do it.
I will be extremely appreciative and receptive to anyone who is willing to help. Also, I will compensate you whenever I start making decent money.
I will work hard and be open minded to what you teach me.
Please and thank you!
So, where do I start?

Everything you need to know is already out there for free. Just beware of the stuff that makes stupid claims that promise tens of thousands a month.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

The books and courses simply it, and organise it in a way that's easy to understand.

It's a really straight forward process:
    • Find out how YOU can contribute value to people's lives
    • Find out what people in that area want to buy
    • Make them an offer they can't refuse

How you go about that is totally up to you, there are dozens of legitimate ways to make money online - and they all work.

But each business model requires time, dedication, persistence, and hard work.

The way I would suggest (which is only one way) is to build an email list of people who are interested in the same thing as you, and then recommend products to them.

Affiliate marketing is a good way to get started, until you learn the ropes, build a following, and then take the next step with creating and selling your own products.

Find your passion, that thing you won't shut up about, and bore people with. That's your niche.

Understand that it's not gonna happen overnight, and that's ok. Enjoy the process, enjoy the journey and find something that's about more than just making money.

    Passive income is misunderstood.

You have to WORK at it, often for weeks or month before you see anything. And then the earnings you make are a result of all that hard work.

And it's not the only way to live comfortably in today's world. There's no shame in getting a job, working for someone else - it's often the most sensible thing you can do while you're building a business as a side hustle.

I don't think anyone who's doing it for themselves are gonna work for free, on the hope of compensation.

    Invest in a mentor instead.

Is there a website or videos you would suggest that has good information or even step-by-step instructions?

So how would I go about efficiently building an email list?

Then how do I find out what those people (the emails I attain) are interested in?

And I'm not looking for overnight riches, I just do not want to work hard doing the wrongs things.

Like I said I am working a dead end job so I have practically no money, so I wasn't hoping to find a mentor on a forum such as this

Go to aweber and sign up for their e-mails they have great tips about e-mail marketing. They are one of the auto responders on this forum that get recommendations a lot.

Read this forum and its sub-fourms and search for the gold nuggets here. Do not buy into shiny objects or a bunch of WSO's. Visit the Learn section in the black header on the forum. https://www.warriorforum.com/learn/

Go to youtube type in Gary Vaynerchuk and watch his short videos like 6 minutes to success and also view several others that have some credibility on building a business.

Good luck and start implementing what you have learned or get locked into just viewing & reading stuff never to actually go anywhere.

Forgot to add this - look up Benjamin Graham and Value Investing when you start making some money.

    • Find a mentor. There are a number of people here who offer courses and ongoing training. Whatever you do, don't blow your mentor off. Work hard!
    • Take part in the forum and absorb everything. If you have a question, do a search first.
    • Realize that even after several years of learning you won't know half of it.
    • Learn SEO and marketing. There are plenty of forums and free resources on the major SEO sites. Along with WF there are other great forums that specialize in certain parts. WF is the right place for you to learn marketing.
    • Set aside a small amount every month for investing in a website, instruction, tools, etc. Whatever seems appropriate for you.
    • Reach out to people and ask questions, like you're doing already.
    • Get recommendations on good ebooks and learning packages. I'm sure there are some really good ones out there.
    • Consider Fiverr.com as a way to earn some extra money. That could be your first source of income, if you have marketable skills.

-- I was hoping to attain a mentor on a forum such as this, I live in a very small town of farmers and factories so I do not have access to mentors for online marketing.

-- You're absolutely right, there's so many variations and different areas of online marketing's and it is constantly changing and evolving that is why I want to learn now while I am still young (I'm 24)

-- SEO stands for search engine optimization right? And what is WF exactly?

-- Do you have any recommendations for free eBooks or free information?

-- I know many trades in the construction field and also have landscaping and housekeeping experience so it is very difficult to get to side jobs. That is one of the main reasons I want to get into online marketing

I'd start with the ideal outcome. Lots of people are not clear about that and go in at anything and everything to make a quick buck, only to find out that it wasn't the right kind of work for them in the first place.

Ask yourself, if you were to wake up in the most ideal setting, what would it look like? How many hours would you be working, if at all? How much money will you be making? What kind of work will you be doing?

And work backwards from there. It will save you a lot of time and frustration trying to course-correct later on.

Keep in mind that there's a big world outside of MMO and even selling products / services.

For the past 17 years, I've mainly been promoting PPL (pay per lead...lead generation) offers. This is because there is no credit card / purchase required to complete an offer. All a user has to do is fill out a form, so conversion rates are typically much higher compared to offers that require a sale to be made.

I favor offers that have a make, get or save money benefit to them, as they have overall worked the best. They also tend to have the greatest mass appeal (will be of interest to a large general audience), so the potential exists to produce high volume and they are fairly easy to cross promote on the back-end.

Some of the verticals (niches) I have done extremely well with are: education, insurance, loans, debt, credit, mortgage, assistance, discount offers, homeowner offers, etc...

The bulk of the PPL offers that I promote pay $20-$40 per lead, but I also promote offers that pay more and less. You don't want to get too caught up on what an offer pays because how well it converts is just as important. For example, if you have an offer that pays $9, but if it converts at 2X or more of a $20 offer, then it will perform about the same or possibly better. At the same time, if you have an offer that pays $90 and it converts poorly, it may not even be worth promoting.

I have also done just as good with dating website sign-ups and pretty good with free trial + S/H offers. I also promote a very limited number of offers that are straight up purchase offers. However, mass appeal needs to exist and I look for one of the following to also exists:

    1) The product is new and/or novel-unique and you can't purchase it locally or even something similar. I don't waste my time with it once something similar shows up in Walmart.

    2) The buyer can truly get what is being offered at a decent discount.

    3) Solves a house is on fire type problem.

However, most of the above I will promote on the back-end. Which is why the first thing I look for is mass appeal.

Bottom line, it's far easier to get someone fill out a short form than to get them to pull out their credit card and make a purchase. So why struggle with trying to sell this or that, when you can provide free information that users want/need and get paid well doing it.

I drive traffic and build responsive email lists using fresh / targeted 3rd party email data and generating real-time, co-reg leads.

3rd party data is email leads of users that have shown an interest in a specific PPL niche or offer and have given permission to receive messages from third parties. You get the opt-in record of each user and it's 100% can-spam compliant.

Co-reg is simply where I place an ad for a specific PPL offer on a co-registration network and their publishers display it at the time a user is signing up with them and can request more info about my offer. When a user requests more info their contact info is then automatically imported into my ESP account and they are sent a message regarding the offer. Which I pay on a per lead basis.

So with the above, I am getting fresh / targeted leads specifically for the PPL offers I'm promoting. However, they are not typically as responsive as a high-quality opt-in list that you build yourself. So to compensate for this you need to work with higher volume. This is not a big deal since the cost is much cheaper and highly scalable compared to traditional list building methods.

When mailing, you want to skim off the top any fast-track conversions and then for long-term success, you want to always be collecting your opens / clickers, segmenting and removing unresponsive users...converting the leads from quantity to quality and into quality responsive lists. Which you can then also cross-promote other offers on the back-end.

So basically I promote PPL offers because they provide the path of least resistance to generating conversions/$$$ and converting the data into cash producing assets.

There is really more to it than it sounds, but done right it can be extremely profitable.

    Something to think about

    Start with your passion.

What interests you, niche-wise? Explore a few niches you enjoy working, then begin to do some research as far as problems to solve in the niche.

The information is there; on this forum, in eBooks, in courses, through coaching. But I suspect you will need to do some mindset work too - seeing your circumstances - because energetically, you will need a different self image to move up in circles so that you can succeed online.

I had to cease being the laid off security guard and start being the island hopping pro blogger - even before I *was* the island hopping pro blogger - mentally and energetically to do more things from fun, and less from fear. Something to think about as you do your due diligence on Warrior, and throughout the web.

    Marketingnoob101,

There is no straight answer to this question and I am sure you will get a wide variety of answers. If you don't know where to start, then I would pick a niche that resonates with you, then find a mentor in that niche and model what they are doing. You may have to pay someone if they are really, really good, but in my opinion, the right mentor will cut years off your learning curve.

This doesn't mean anything. You should start with a free ebook about internet marketing, and read. Then play customer. Go and buy from someone (guru) who have their stuff together and is profitable. This way you will see how they make money, how they offer new products to you, their high priced products, their continuity program, and how they pitch you for a seminar. Get ready for a long road ahead of you. Good good job on finally getting started. There's no shame in being broke. But there's much shame in staying broke.

    Keep it simple...

    - Find a market you want to target with your first business
    - Uncover what is already selling and understand the desire/problem being targeted
    - Focus on TOP problem or desire you uncover in that market
    - Create either a lead-gen giveaway (report, video, discount, etc...) OR a free + shipping type offer to capture lead (first and second steps of email marketing)
    - Have products/offers on the back-end that you partner, build or license to continually grow your revenue so it continually stays ahead of your customer acquisition cost -- in other words, if you average $200 for every 100 leads then you can afford to pay $1.50 or so to get those leads (more if you can continue to increase that $200 to $300 or more...

Start with uncovering the market and identifying the desire...then take action on generating leads and finally, test and add offers....

    Simple as that :-)

Forget the "Internet marketing" niche. Think of an area you love and already are familiar with and create some kind of free tool for people to use and require them to opt-in to use it. Then, you can sell other stuff to them. In my case, my start-off product many years ago was a musician referral website. That has nothing to do with Internet marketing. They opt-in to use the free tool and then I can suggest things to help them in their music career that they pay for. Find a hobby you're into and create a tool and build your list from allowing use of the free tool.

    Hi,

Nice to see that you are working on latest technologies of internet from a small area. The best thing about internet marketing is that you can get everything online. Off course a mentor is really important but you can advice from the internet only. I am also from a small town and working in internet marketing from last 7 years.

What you can start with is -
SEO (many tutorial are there on the internet).
Content writing (I guess you have native language as English, so this will be easy for you).
Graphics Designing (if you have some designing skills)
Adsense - if you have any interesting topic or niche, you can ccreate your own blog and promote it.
Affiliate marketing - promote products to encourage users to buy.

There are more option, you can search for more. ..

There is no straight response to this inquiry and I am certain you will find a wide assortment of solutions. On the off chance that you don't know where to begin, at that point I would pick a specialty that impacts you, at that point discover a coach in that specialty and model what they are doing. You may need to pay somebody in the event that they are incredibly great, however as I would see it, the correct tutor will cut a very long time off your expectation to absorb information.

Try and answer these questions to give yourself a little more focus and clarity on what it is that you're trying to build, and who for:

What is your niche? Who is it that you want to work with, and why? Is it small independent businesses, Fortune 500 companies, fashion brands? Knowing this will help you narrow down where you go looking for contracts.
Who do you want to appeal to? Are you here for the geeks, the wizards, the whizz-kids, the hardened professionals or the new kids on the block? This will help you find the people you'll associate with, and how you'll begin to build a loveable brand.
What makes you unique? There are thousands of agencies out there, so what is it that makes you different? What do you (or will you) value, care about or do differently to others?

Everything you need to know IS for sure out there for free. But it takes time to learn it, and you cant ask a free blog post questions. Also not everything out there is good quality information so its easy to get confused.

You mentioned that people have offered to sell you training. Well why not buy it? Marketing is a skill and learning how to do it is valuable information, so consider investing in yourself and buying some training from a respected / established marketer.

Hi: Go to IDplr.com they have a free membership where you can read hundreds of books videos and much more. Granted the free membership info is not the most recent but most of it is good. Just don't get bogged down ever learning and never getting started. I would say try selling on Ebay or Etsy everyone has things around the house they can sell. It will surprise you what people buy. You don't pay until you sell on Ebay. You can do this while your learning from other places on the internet. The main thing is to get started now don't just sit around looking for that perfect thing because it will never come. Every job has it's pros and cons. Hope you the best.
