How do I make my IM journey achievable under these circumstances?

Hello there!

My mission is very simple and concise: I want to make the world a better place by breaking the language barrier that limits and blocks the self-actualization process of non-English speakers.

Simply put, my role is to TRANSLATE important information, knowledge, truth, wisdom that's sitting out there, lost or hidden from sight.

How?

By developing a professional VIDEO streaming platform which will have a monthly/6 monthly/yearly subscription.

The $ will be insignificant (a few dollars per month), so it can help us support the project's costs and scale the operation by outsourcing translation services, improving the website's functionalities, and improving the brand's awareness.

1) Downloading videos from different sources (YouTube, internet archive, social media networks),
2) Creating English subtitle + 5 more languages (for now) -
3) Polishing & Editing the sound to make it easier for the user to hear and understand.
-----
The purpose? - To make valuable information available to everyone who seeks it, because language understanding will no longer represent a problem.

Why did I give you this much detail?

Because I encountered an issue which is threatening my project's long-term stability.

COPYRIGHTING.

To give you even more insight on the topic, here's what type of videos I'm looking to copy, edit, and monetize:

a) https://archive.org/details/AlanWatt...rder-Kqed-1959 (200 views)
b) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NyfyjcAQvSQ
c) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OCrY24951nw (81 views)
d) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hK_yGDn6BVQ (check how the channel sets a watermark and uses Alan Watts under Fair Use notice)
-------------------

1) How do I stay out of trouble? How can I borrow & edit content without risking major penalties?

2) Who do I have to get permission from when borrowing such videos? It's obviously not the YouTube channels ( as they all work under Fair Use notice )

3) What ways would you recommend using?

-----------------
Thanks for your time.

I think you summed it up here with those three words.

    COPY

    EDIT

    MONETIZE

Try avoiding two of the three and you should be sweet.

Stealing content is not a good idea.

    Try creating instead.

    Best regards,

    Ozi

Yes, because no wisdom has ever been written in any language other than English.

    Victor,

It's usually music that creates an issue. I recently had an issue with a video I posted on YouTube, here's the message YouTube sent me:

    "
    Hi Chris Brindamour,

A copyright owner using Content ID claimed some material in your video.

This is just a heads up
Don't worry. You're not in trouble and your account standing is not affected by this.

There are either ads running on your video, with the revenue going to the copyright owner, or the copyright owner is receiving stats about your video's views."

A couple of suggestions. First of all English speaking countries are generally the best markets. So you may want to stick with them.

Another idea, you may want to just recreate the material in your own words, or give a review or tell what you learned from it, rather than reusing it.

Respectfully, I disagree. Copyright and tradename/trademark are issues with any type of content, not just music. Online, I would guess that there is way more plagiarism of written content and images than music.

But regardless, any work that you use that you didn't create yourself requires that you have permission from the owner or creator before you can legally use it; of course, there are a few exceptions like public domain material and works that carry certain creative commons licenses. But that's not what you talked about in your description.

I think the best and safest way for you to proceed is to create your own content - then there will be no legal issues.

You can try to identify material that you'd like to use and then go after permission . . . but personally, I think you will largely be disappointed in the results unless you pay content creators a license fee. Most content owners aren't going to let you profit off their work while they sit on the sidelines without any compensation.

I don't want to rain on our parade but I get things sent to me in different languages all the time through my web site and I just plug it into google translate. It might not always turn out perfectly but I can normally understand what the person wants. Your idea sounds really good but I would check out everything you can I would hate to see you spend a lot of time and money building something that people might not use because they are already using something else.

I'm not sure if I'm understanding. You want to take other peoples content and monetize it?
Why not create your own in the target language opposed to using other people's content?

    Huh?

Who is your target market? Developing (third-world) countries? People who are scrambling for enough money to feed their families are unlikely to spend money on self-actualization.

Have fun making the world a better place.

It's a cool idea man, but not sure if it will scale as you are essentially profiting off others initial works. If you can get around the copy right issues then cool :-)

If all you are doing with these videos is putting them into a different language, I would just ask people if that's cool. Ask them if they want to see the finished version before you publish it. I'm sure people would be cool with it. As you build your channel people can always check them out. The biggest problem online is people just stealing videos and using it to scam people but if you're honest in what you are doing and tell them you will let them see the finished version before you publish it I'm sure you would some positive responses.

    Good luck.

Thank you all for joining the conversation.

Respectfully, if you truly took the time to take a quick peek at the links I've inserted, you'd notice that these "people" you're talking about could:

-be either dead (most of them are)
-could be unreachable (many went meditating in the jungles)
-might not have any sort of contact details that could help me reach them
-might not respond to my message/email/call

    -----------
However, most of them have rather long pieces of video content (mostly AUDIO recordings, video recordings, interviews, and presentations)

Should I just try my best to reach them - try all the possible ways - and if I can't ... just quit it?

    ----

As I've read, from a legal copyrighting perspective, you can't just take an audio piece, put it together with some stock images and turn it into something legit to use. The actual recording, the speech that the person is holding is under the person's copyright rights. -

So, if you guys have any new extra suggestion based on this remark, that would be really appreciated.

    Cheers
