Advice on earning money by placing quotes on photos?

by writetoearn 20 replies
Any advice please on the variety of ways to earn money with quotes on photos and public domain paintings? Also, the best type of promotion for a photoquotes blog?

I think you will struggle with this business idea. It's very easy to put quotes on images, anyone can do it with free image editors, and I'm guessing that nearly all the images shown on social media are either done by the creator without compensation or they are offered as a freebie by someone wanting exposure for a product or site. I'm not sure how you can market something profitably that anyone can do for free. The exception would be if your site generates a ton of traffic and you charge others for the exposure (advertising) on your site.

We use this type of thing for book promotion. We either link back to our website or straight to the product page.

We've sometimes done this to a book review of a book in the same genre so that we can attempt to capture a lead and retarget them with a pixel

Would it also work to promote a children's book?

        I've never tried.

I guess the age of the target reader would be important as well as the purpose of the book.

Something worth thinking about is that the end user is not always the customer.

You have to find the parrallel between what you can offer and what your users might buy. People that would goto your site are going to obviously be "socially" active. so things like emoji related items or anything to do with phones ( pop sockets or something like this: https://www.miniinthebox.com/jakcom-...SABEgKl9PD_BwE ) are probably going to work to some degree.

Just keep in mind to mark every image you produce with your website on the image as well.

I like images and I like quotes, which is why I thought about doing something like that. Any advice on how to monetise these interests?

Collect them in eBook or paper book. Call the book, let's say:

      'A 1000 photo-quotes about happiness'

They say A picture is worth 1000 words. This book is worth then a
      1.000.000 words.
      - This book will change your life instantly and forever -

... and publish it on Amazon.

      Not bad, huh

Good idea. Also, have you any advice about how to promote the ebook after producing it?

My advice is to go to you tube and find some videos that explain the process a lot easier

You can create a website like pixabay, but offering your own quote-graphic-collection for free. You can make it as membership-site, so people will be in your list first to be able to download and use any of your creation. You can ask people to buy you a coffee (like in pixabay) for some extra revenue. You can also monetize your website with advertising like adsense or by your own. And most important, you will have a list where you can promote anything to them.

Seems like a good idea but would it be acceptable to use public domain images and place the quotes on them? Or should I use a mixture of both public domain and my own images? So, you think the images should be offered free and I accept donations and possibly place adsense on the site?

Just make sure you use real public domain images (CC0) and you won't have a problem. Go to pixabay.com to see how it works. You can get more ideas from it.
You can accept donation and you can also sell your huge collection as a big bundle ZIP download for people who want to get everything in a single action.

I'm struggling how to make this profitable. Unless I'm not understanding it sounds like you want to take other people's images and just add words to them?

I would literally pay someone not to do this, so there's that.

For the most part, you seem to have two broad options: 1) use your quotes on nice images to draw viewers to your website to get ad revenue or try to up-sell them on something else you sell, or 2) use your quotes on a physical product that you can sell through Etsy or the Kindle store or somewhere similar.

A few ideas for physical products:
    • Make your own greeting cards.
    • Categorize the quotes into small ebooks and sell lots of them for not much money each.
    • Make a nice coffee table book with photos or paintings or something similar so you can sell a few books at a higher price.
    • Make special occasion books, like quotes for Mother's Day or recent graduates or someone starting their own business or get well soon.
    • Put your quote collection in a journal with space for the buyers to write around them.
    • Make special occasion journals for new moms or people dealing with long-term illnesses or newlyweds or others who need encouragement and space to reflect.
    • Combine your quote collection with another skill you have (or hire someone with that skill). Burn them into wood hangings, etch them on glass ornaments, cross-stitch them into samplers, make stamps, etc.

    writetoearn,

I think one way you can take advantage of this is Instagram. Photo quotes do very well there. Go find some popular Instagram accounts in your niche and see what they are doing.

You will need to build your audience and interact with other accounts. This is not a overnight thing, it will take you months, and you will need to work on this consistently on a daily basis.

    Hope this helps!

hmmm are you going to posts this on IG? I've seen may people grow their accounts only with motivational quotes on their niche. I think this is also possible but you will have to grow your account. One way around that is to have other influencers do a shoutout for you to grow your account fast.

Do a Google search for "etsy printable quotes". People are selling them, people are buying them. You can produce a physical product, framed and all, and people will buy that (with the right promotion, great design, etc, etc), or you can just create a file that buyers can print out themselves. You probably won't become a millionaire overnight, but there are people out there making money doing this! :-)
