Free traffic isn't free....

"Free" Traffic From Search Engines Isn't Free because it costs you time, which is more valuable than money.

What are your thoughts about this?

And how do YOU optimize your time expenditure for SEO work to get the most $$ for your time?

I agree. Unless your time isn't worth anything to you, there is no such thing as free traffic.

You could not be anymore right, yes it is true there are ways of getting free traffic such as web 2.0, article marketing, blogs, video marketing, social media and press releases just to name a few. But like you said they all take time and "time is money" so really there is NO Free Form of traffic, but really the paid ways are the free ways because they allow you to have more free time to focus on other things.

The best way to free up your time is to outsource your tasks, go to getafreelancer or other outsourcing networks and post jobs of the tasks you need done or you simply can find someone from this forum too.

if there isn't any free traffic - just buy it and you are way ahead of the game!

ooops - unless of course you invest a lot of time to get a #2 ranking and it sticks - 4 EVER.

    it's an investment.

The time spent developing a web site could lead to a reliable and constant income stream for years.

Maybe I have to plant myself in front of my computer for a week or two handling boring and repetitive tasks but when the site is done (at least in my case) it's built to run on auto pilot and generate income for the long term.

Is the traffic free, no, a lot of time and effort are put into generating that traffic.

Spending two weeks of time on a site that will in turn bring in a reliable and constant amount of income every month is worth every second of time spent developing it.

Some people are short on time and some are short on money. It really depends on the person.

I've just stumbled on to a "system" of writing articles every day. Before getting this "brainwave" I was lucky to write 1 article a week because I just couldn't think of one. I now am confident that with the time I have left over after working at my "J-O-B" that I could write 1, 2, 3 or more articles every day. I now have 4 articles in the queue at EZA's (in 2 days) and I'm sure I'll have at least 2 or 3 by tomorrow night.
So why am I answering this thread with something that seems to be unrelated? Because free traffic may cost me time writing articles but getting an education here is also costing me time - and for that I'm truly grateful for all the help that I've received along the way. While blasting through writing my articles I realized how much valuable time I am spending here. But I realized another thing. Do you know what is more valuable than time?
    Taking Action!
I could hang out here and answer a lot of questions with my limited experience, but if I don't take action then nothing happens. I don't know how many lurkers come here but if its anything like the number of authors at EZA's that have only written 1 article then I think maybe the majority of people who come here probably haven't started anything either. It's time to stop looking for all the answers and put a plan into action. You will never start if you have to know everything.

If you spend your time building 'free' traffic, you are going to learn a hell of a lot more than simply buying it.

every time you do anything in affiliate marketing you should notate what you put in it and what you got out of it. You should learn each time so you know what/how to optimize it for next time. Time should be counted as an asset just as money is.

But the point is.. most folks has got more time than money....

That's why they are stucked in their 9-5 job, work 15 hours a day
and still has got time to think about how to get rich... they go and
queue for the great lottery draw hoping to be the next multi-millionaire....

If they would just spend a little time a day to write just 1 article a day...
they can probably make a decent living online....

Yea, I think most of those free methods, they're not really FREE however, what is attractive about them over PPC is that if you set them up right and with enough volume, they should be giving you passive income every week/month for months or even years to come. So to some, this can be very worth the extra bit of effort in the beginning.

And also people hate to lose MONEY more than time! I mean think about it, most of us waste a LOT of time just on TV and just doing nothing.

But we HATE to waste money... so even though time is seen as more valuable (more to business people), most of us waste a ton of it without a thought.

Of course not, on another note, try taking lots of action!

Someone once told me that if I treat article marketing like a part time job for a month, it will pay back like a full time job for months to come.

So try writing 30 articles a day! Keep working, do more work then your competitors.

The great thing about "free marketing" is you know your not wasting time, for instance, how much is your time worth? If you are playing a video game you are not gaining money during that time. So if you would normally do that but instead do article marketing you are then in fact, making money without spending money.

Let me put another spin on this topic.. The biggest issue with paid traffic is that when you stop paying, you stop getting traffic... But with "free" traffic you can get traffic for months or even years without doing anything (after initial submissions) .. so it is a question of short term or long term traffic solutions.. If you want to go with a trending niche, go for PPC .. If you want traffic to a stable niche site, use organic methods....

    Cheers,

Free traffic costs us a lot of time and efforts and in the long run that becomes more valuable than money. So you need to decide to reach your aim.

Ha! Time value of money - money today is worth more than money tomorrow, because all currency is continually devaluing. So if you spend your money now, you're spending more money than if you spend it tomorrow! See how that works? If I spend $50 tomorrow, it's worth less than the $50 I have today, so I spent less money!

Wait a minute, that means I have less money, too. That means... well, crap. I have to go do some math.

There is no such thing as free Traffic nore Free Links PERIOD. They all take you time/money... As all thing in life, the best way to gain Traffic is to have a good "Online Marketing Mix" in place - Write your own content if you are the expert and want to communicate that to your audience. Outsorce only when you have enough own experience to be able to manage/coordinate/review the work you have outsorced. Do it yourself until you reach the point where your income lets you outsorce.

You could get 480 worked hours a month for $1000 (three assistants), and if you document everything and have a system, this won't be wasted money. If you have the right SEO strategy, your costs will only lessen with time, to the point where your site is self-perpetuating with no work and minimal management time.

Doing all the SEO work by yourself is suicide. You'll fail much slower.

Focus on authority link building. You can waste a lot of time getting links that don't add much weight to your rankings.

Right, there's no such thing as free traffic. and paying with your time costs MORE than paying with money when you think about it.

You will NEVER get your time back. As for money, you can always get more...

Outsourcing is the way to go, but you should also know what is it all about.

Free traffic is often passive traffic in that you work once to get it and then it keeps on paying off.

That's opportunity cost worth having not opportunity lost

Yes, traffic via search engines are FREE. But how to get it? How to optimize it? For that we hve to get some help from EXPERTS, so we hve to spend some money there
However, if you are a SEO, you can do it free but lots of time hve to be spent on it.

While I am only new at this, there seems to be so much confusion around SEO and PPC. Frankly I steer away from them. I tried Adwords and got burned. So now it's twitter, facebook article marketing (plus I run articles in the local paper) and my own blog. Like most I also work and dont have time to muck around on frustrating things. I just go where the people are. It seems to work ok.

Good man. That's 99% of what works, right there.

You just go where the eyeballs are.

No need to obsess over technical details. It's usually not worth the time.

More time spent reaching people and genuinely helping them, giving them what they want/need, and less time getting fired up over spread sheets....

Adwords is by far the most difficult and competitive aspect of Internet Marketing now a days. You REALLY need to know what you're doing to make a profit from PPC as it stands right now.

I don't really know about your statement... Anything costs time doesn't it? And sometimes it feels like there is not enough time in a day.

I think that trying anything new is going to cost time and if you are willing to put in that time, then you should at least feel good that you tried in something. Trial and error.

Some free traffic sites do work... and usually does not cost too much time to post something. So, my thoughts are... I agree and disagree... nothing is free all the time.
