Gurus signing you up for more lists when you only signed up for one

Here we go again!

In the past, I bought a couple of things from a certain guru.

Became irritated when I started getting emails from this guru from various email addresses.

It got worse (in my opinion) when this guru started sending out his affiliate links to other products, in emails that were nothing but a sales pitch and a link.

Sending out an ezine with quality content is one thing. Sending one random blasts that are nothing but a very short message and a link is another thing entirely.

Back then, I unsubscribed, but kept getting emails from this guru's other email addresses (even though I had not signed up for ezines from his other email addresses).

Finally got rid of the cluster of emails from this guy.

A couple of weeks ago, I decided to order something new that this guru offered. I went into it knowing to watch out because he often hides his continuity program information and you don't realize what's up until your credit card is charged.

I also paid attention to the URL for the specific product that I purchased, so I could watch and see if I started getting the cluster-**ck of emails from his other email addresses again.

And it's happening all over again.

In fact, when I was listening to the audio from this new product from the guru, he admitted to the audience at the seminar that was being recorded that he goes ahead and signs people up for his other lists when they sign up for one list.

So how do you feel about this?

If a customer signs up for one ezine (or buys one specific product from you), is it OK to take the liberty of signing this person up for your other ezine lists that come from other domain names?

I'm canceling this program with this guru and I've learned my lesson. He may be a great guy and all that, but this latest product that I fell for was a rehash of the same stuff everyone else is teaching.

Plus I don't agree with his policy that it's OK to sign me up for his other lists.

I signed up for one specific list when I bought one specific product from him this time around.

Period.

If the guru had any real marketing sense they'd segment their list at the start and as an ongoing process. No need to have different lists in one area, just send the right targeted valuable content to the customers who have raised their hands to say thats what they want.

I hate that. I remember the Stompernet launch last year when you got a load of bonuses and had to sign up to every Guru on the planet's lists to get them.

Took me about a month to get rid of them and quite a few emails to their "support!"

I never sign up for anything anymore. None of them have anything I want to hear. None of them have anything I want to buy. If I want or need something I'll go and find it myself (well usually I'll get someone else to). I only bought the Stompernet thingumajig to to go through their sales/fulfilment process and...we all know how that went. Although the content was great and I have a real soft spot for Dan, Andy, and Leslie.

The only IM person's emails I look forward to are Mr Myers'.

No doubt he'll pitch in as this is one of his favourite hobbyhorses.

why would you buy something from someone who you already know is running a shady business operation?

he often hides his continuity program information and you don't realize what's up until your credit card is charged.
and you continue to do business with someone like this?

He may be a great guy and all that
    obviously not

but this latest product that I fell for was a rehash of the same stuff everyone else is teaching.
someday people will wake up and realize that most of the stuff being pitched as the next million dollar money maker is just a rehash of common knowledge.

It's amazing that so many people involved in IM fall for all of the simple IM scams and tricks themselves.

You can generally find the answers to everything you need to know in the Adsense / PPC / SEO Discussion Forum without spending a dime.

btw... having an alternate hotmail account for spam is a good option to keep your primary email clear of this kind of junk.
