Gurus signing you up for more lists when you only signed up for one
In the past, I bought a couple of things from a certain guru.
Became irritated when I started getting emails from this guru from various email addresses.
It got worse (in my opinion) when this guru started sending out his affiliate links to other products, in emails that were nothing but a sales pitch and a link.
Sending out an ezine with quality content is one thing. Sending one random blasts that are nothing but a very short message and a link is another thing entirely.
Back then, I unsubscribed, but kept getting emails from this guru's other email addresses (even though I had not signed up for ezines from his other email addresses).
Finally got rid of the cluster of emails from this guy.
A couple of weeks ago, I decided to order something new that this guru offered. I went into it knowing to watch out because he often hides his continuity program information and you don't realize what's up until your credit card is charged.
I also paid attention to the URL for the specific product that I purchased, so I could watch and see if I started getting the cluster-**ck of emails from his other email addresses again.
And it's happening all over again.
In fact, when I was listening to the audio from this new product from the guru, he admitted to the audience at the seminar that was being recorded that he goes ahead and signs people up for his other lists when they sign up for one list.
So how do you feel about this?
If a customer signs up for one ezine (or buys one specific product from you), is it OK to take the liberty of signing this person up for your other ezine lists that come from other domain names?
I'm canceling this program with this guru and I've learned my lesson. He may be a great guy and all that, but this latest product that I fell for was a rehash of the same stuff everyone else is teaching.
Plus I don't agree with his policy that it's OK to sign me up for his other lists.
I signed up for one specific list when I bought one specific product from him this time around.
Period.
