Hello, I am very new here and am needing info on where to start with a supplement, weight loss niche. I am looking for an established label that I can sell, Amazon. Not interested in creating a private label.
Anyone have any experience here, or know how and where I can look?

I've promoted a lot of weight loss supplements in my time.

I always did best when I was promoting a free trial + S/H.

The user would get a $50-$60 product and just pay like $5-$9 for shipping and handling.

You ideally want to promote what is hot...what is Dr. Oz talking about, etc...

I also always saw higher conversions when a pre-sale page was used.

    Anyway, that's my 2 cents.

After the free trial, is there any residual income? And are you making anything on the front end, with shipping?

You won't see a whole lot of residual income because none of the shit actually works, so people rarely order more than 2-3 times.

No residual, but the payouts are typical in the $30-$40 range.

After the trial ends, the user gets put on a continuity program and is auto-billed each month. The companies know their numbers. How many will typically cancel before the trial ends and those that don't, how many months they will stay in the continuity program before canceling.

So they know what each trial user is worth to them long-term and is why you get such a high payout even though the user only paid S/H.

You also get paid regardless if the user cancels during the free trial and you don't get debited for it either.

This is why I always promoted free trials + S/H.

Sounds good I'm considering that. At this time, what I want to to do is buy 200-500 lots at a time and send them to Amazons fulfilment center. Without a brick and mortar, or even online store, how and who would consider wholesaling to you?

My bad, I thought you were looking to promote an affiliate/CPA offer.

If you are going to be buying and reselling yourself. Make sure you are up on the laws regarding what claims you can make and have documented support for those claims. The FTC estimates that 70% of supplement companies are not in compliance in one way or another. The FTC is not your friend. "Most" of the time when they contact you, they are coming after you. So you better have all your ducks in a row!!! Here is a guide they put out, but I would recommend having a lawyer that is experienced with supplements that knows where the line is and review your claims, etc...

Find a few of the biggest marketers in the supplement niche and reverse engineer what they are doing. Go through their sales funnel, see how they are promoting, sign up for their email, see what they are sending out. Don't try to reinvent the wheel, do what is working and model that.

You need to research what is selling well before you can decide what to sell.

If you are any good at research then you can do this but it takes a while, if you have a bit of money you can hire someone to do some research so you have a basic understanding of what to sell and then you can see how your store goes.

No two stores will be the same so you will need to see what the hot sellers are and then adjust accordingly.

    Best of luck.

While you may not want to private label your supplements it might be more profitable.

Anyone that wholesales you supplements is probably already selling them on Amazon themselves. So you will not be able to beat their price.

Private labeling will only have a one time up-front cost for setting up your label then every order will be the same.

prices on private label supplements tend to be quite a bit less than just wholesaling established names.

Do some research and see what you come up with.

So I hear that you are saying every label is selling there own product, and they have no interest in wholesaling? Or they do, but the arbitrage is not enough to make it worth while?

Since you've already decided to work in weight loss niche the next step is product research to find the most profitable and less competitive product in that niche. You can do it manually or hire someone and Amazon product research software will also help you find few products from your chosen niche.

Typically, look for a product which is small, lightweight and the size is that can fit in a shoe box. For any particular product you can simply have the idea about the sales performance of that product by quickly looking at the listing itself. Bestseller rank is the most important, lower the number better the rank which means better sales. Apart from this number of reviews, rating and the number of offers on the listing also give you hint whether or not this product is popular. In this way you can understand the popularity of the listing but you can't estimate sales. For sales estimates again an Amazon sellers' software will help you know the estimated sales of the top products.

Caution has to be exercised with this though, because such offers are usually very aggressive. Meaning that people usually are automatically billed for several months worth of product as soon as the trial date ends. They make it very tough to call in to cancel before the trial date is over. Imagine having to wait hours on the phone in order to have the person on the other end "accidentally" lost the call. Doing it on the internet is no better.

One more thing. The reason I know this is because I went through this experience with such an offer. It was for one of those brain enhancing supplements that's supposed to help with focus and concentration. Paid $8.99 for shipping and handling. Trial period was 30 days. After 28 days I got billed for 3 months worth of product and it cost $199.99 plus shipping and handling. It was so impossible to get in touch with anybody over the phone or email that you just give up and take the loss.

You're looking to "start" within the supplement and weight loss niche?

Are you looking for a product to sell? Do you mind being an affiliate for one? You said you dont want private label supplements or products, so i'm assuming that you dont want to create or license one either.

The only affiliate offer that i can advise is something called "MoreNiche". Google it.

Thanks Randall, I took a look at MoreNiche and this is basically programs where one is sending traffic to companies for affiliate sales, correct?
My understanding of affiliate commissions is that is a one time sale, and no backend or repeat business. No list making. And would not be something I could advertise on Amazon. Would you agree?

    For Weight loss,
try jvzoo, choose product, create funnel, to capture lead, now second, create your own product, ebook, super easy, use the software for one click ebook from page or post, then sell that as your own product, but make sure you know how to design all this stuff.
    So hope this helps you.

Smartprofitmoney hello, thanks for the response. A few of questions...
    1. "try jvzoo" This is where I purchase a sales funnel, correct?
    2. Are you suggesting channeling an affiliate weight loss/fitness product through the funnel to capture leads?
    3. And last, "create your own product" are you referring to creating a private label, and an ebook to go with it?

jacopo7, if you're still looking send me a PM. I market a nutritional line and have customers that have been buying products from me every month since 2001 because these products actually do work. The initial sale and monthly residuals will blow your mind. Complete sales funnel is already set up for you and there are no products to stock or ship. Your only job is marketing and I can show you how to do that. Just let me know if you're interested and what country you live in.
