Is there a way to back up my wordpress site for free?

I got some plugin but either it doesn't do anything or it's way too advanced for me, I'm guessing it's way too advanced for me, so is there any newbie friendly plugins to back up my wordpress site, or any easy way to do it for free, or any easy way to do it for money? (I can't do it for money now, but when I start reliably making at least enough sales to cover the back up cost I can) I have everything set up where I can just keep building and building a list and new products and I don't know how I go there, it was always some big mess and hostgator would fix it, basically support from my plugin and hosting got my site up for me lol, I do not want to lose my site... Is it something I should even be worried about?

What hosting do you have? Many hosts have easy options for backups.

I have Hostgator that would be super awesome! I hardly even know how to log in to my host gator account, I have 2 emails saved from them and for some reason I got 2 passwords and I always use the wrong one but I can get into my c-panel that's about all I know how to do and I haven't done that in like 2 years but I'm going to have to start soon once I am a clickbank vendor I will have to log in and check my e-mail every day, that'll be SUPER awesome if my hosting can do it though and then I never have anything to ever worry about and I can just build my site!

Hostgator has a backup option that is included. You can find it in the "Popular" buttons section. You can also pay for automatic backups. You could probably create a Chron job too.

Otherwise, use the backup plugin that was mentioned above.

Two emails. One for the cpanel and the other for billing.

Thanks! I'll have to see how much it is for automatic back-ups I think I heard John Chow say like 4 years ago that he paid like 40 a month and anything he posts is automatically backed up and he never has to worry about anything, something like that sounds good to me, automatic because I don't know anything about this stuff but, idk I'm not going to figure it all out today, but it's something I want figured out before I ever have to wish I did it sooner... For now though, I even feel better just knowing Ican do it through host gator some how!

I have hostgator hosting too and it's very easy to backup your WordPress website. Just login to your Cpanel account (You can find cpanel link inside the email you got at the time you purchased hosting).
Now, click backup option under Files section.
Here, you'll see the option to create complete backup or create a MySQL database backup.
        Download them on your computer.
If you still have any problem, you can refer this guide - http://howtoarticle.in/backup-wordpr...base-manually/

Additionally, you can backup your WordPress files with an FTP.

All-In-One Wp Migration is 100% free and it will create a backup of your website. You need to make a backup manually though

If your site ever goes down, install Wordpress then install the plugin. Then upload the backup

I use it for migrating sites all the time, works well and its free

I have no idea what it means to make a back up manually lol, I might have to look into that though, but I like the sounds of what ChrisBa above said about my host possibly having an easy option...

I use a free plugin called Updraft Plus. Very simple to use and will back your files and database up to your hosting automatically and you also have the option of downloading your backup anywhere you want to right from your WP dashboard.

Here's the link to get it from the WP repository:

I agree with JosephC, All-In-One Wp Migration is a great plug-in that I have used for this purpose.

Another popular alternative is UpdraftPlus WordPress Backup Plugin. You might want to check this one out as well - some different features.

Either one will do the job.

I tried updraft a while back and couldn't figure it out, I think I might have made a backup idk it gave me a page of code idk how that could possibly be the backup of my whole site, and even if it was idk how that would help me get my site back, idk it just didn't even make a tiny amount of sense to me but it was the free version... Right now figuring it out through host gator sounds the best to mebecause they have 24/7 support too I didn't know i could do it through them though, I'll have to look into All-In-One Wp Migration though and see what seems easier and gets thejob done, or actually I probably will just go with host gator because if I did need to recovermy site or something I'd have no idea what to do, I'd like to just talk to host gator support and usually when I can't figure something out they don't even walk me through it, they just do it for me it's awesome, I would have never got my site up without them, but yea, i never even knew it was an option to back my site through them.

1.You can ask for the hosting service for the data of backup. Bluehost hold the data of site for 7 days.
2.I usually use the plugin Duplicator to backup my site data.

Yes, backup in Wordpress is free. You can simply backup your website data. Also, you can transfer your website data to blogger for back up if you like

    Clickbank lover,

It's simple to do this from your admin panel. However, realize that WP exports do not export your theme, plugins, and other important website files. It is then easy to import this data on another WordPress site. You can also use your FTP to make a backup using Cyberduck or Filezilla.

Automatic Backups & Unlimited Space with the Jetpack Plugin by WordPress.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[11276780].message }}
    • Profile picture of the author Clickbank Lover
Jetpack came installed with my plugin but i had to uninstall a bunch of plugins cause they made my site look like it was hacked or something one day and I uninstalled a bunch of plugins and then it was better and I can't remember if jetpack was something I had to uninstall or something... If Jetpack is a plugin that does work without messing my site up, how much does it cost for auto-backups and unlimited space? I just had/have the free version and never had any clue what it did... Would that be better to do than just talk to host gator support and get my backups set up on auto through my hosting?

What he is referring is an advanced option with MySQL database.

In WordPress, there are two types of backups - your WordPress files and WordPress database. Both in combination makes a full Website backup.

thanks, I'll check that out for something to use before I can just pay to have everything automatic. I see a lot of people recommending updraft, I tried that once and I couldn't figure it out, it gave me one page of code but my site is a lot of pages and posts, so idk is somehow that one page of code my whole site, and it it is what would I even do with it?? Stuff is too confusing for me, lol, I will watch a few vids on wp Duplicator PLugin though, thanks.

yea I just started watching a vid on Wp Duplicator Plugin and it looks like it's only free for a pretty small site and then you need pro, so yea, I'm just going to talk to my hosting about it when I know I'll for sure be able to afford it every month, I never knew that was an option before, thanks though.

I never use a plugin to backup my WordPress website. Most of the hosting companies provide the option to backup WordPress website.

Thanks. I'm pretty sure that's what i'm going to do, wait until I know I can afford it, and then message hostgator support and see if they can set me up so everything I do is automatically backed up without me having to even think about it...

I don't think you can set up automatic backup of your site without the use of any paid plugins. BackupBuddy is the best plugin for scheduling automatic backup(But it's a paid plugin).
Or you can use BackWpup if you are looking for a free plugin to do your Work.
With Cpanel, you can perform a manual backup (I even left steps in one of your above comments).
You can message me if you need any help.

awesome thanks! When I have money coming in to the point where I know for sure I can afford it every month, I'll message their support and see if they can help me set it up so it just backs up automatically, idk it sounds like I can do that and from others it sounds like I can't so idk, I'll just see lol.

I would start with FTP. Besides a 1-click backup solution plug-in, this is by far the easiest thing in my opinion. My personal favorite is Filezilla.

I tried messing with ftp once and I lost access to my whole site and this lady at hostgator fixed itfor me, I was trying to make it so I could upload bigger files with wordpress but now thankfully I got amazons3 cause that's way better than what I was trying to do, but I'll never mess with ftp oranything like that ever again lol, I just make blog posts and make pages with my plugin on wordpress and I don't want to go any deeper into website stuff than that... I just want to make stuff and sell it, this website stuff like ftp and even crazier sounding stuff like mysql or something idk what any of that stuff is, and I never want toknow lol, that's all too much for me. I'm going to have to just pay whatever company makes backing up my site the easiest for me when I can afford to pay a company something lol.

you should setup your email on your computer and use a real email program like thunderbird. that way you set it up to download email every hour or 10 minutes or whatever.
If you are going to be using/running a online marketing business you really need to do some research and learn at least the basics of how to run a website. that would include how to use your hosting control panel, how to setup databases, how to install things like wp and phpbb etc. and also how to use ftp to do all of this.

    luck,
    robert
