All I have is an Ebook...what do I do?

Hi folks,

I'm new here to the forums, and just wanted to get some help.
I made an ebook for a....quasi-adult niche. I don't know what to do next.
From what I read, it seems like I need to PDF it, make a site for it, and use clickbank to have others sell it for me. (am i wrong?)
What's the best way for someone with ZERO web talent to get their ebook up for sale?
Also, I see all these "how-to" guides, but they're all for sale. Are there any free resources?

Thanks so much for any help/ideas/advice.

Krys

Well krystal, you have a few options here. If you have no web talent, you need to head over to the Services section here and get someone to build you a mini site if you want to put the product on clickbank. If you want another option, you could give away the ebook for free to people interested in your niche while creating an e-mail list for yourself. Then you have a bunch of people you can continue to give advice to and earn their trust. This allows you to drip future products to them as well. Hope this helps you and best of luck!

    Welcome to the forums!

Well, while there is plenty of free resource and material out there on the net, to actually put it into action and get the mini-site etc will either require investment or some degree of web talent to do it yourself. Although if you look in the right places (either this forum or elance.com) you should be able to get it up and going pretty cheaply.

I wish you the best of luck!

    Hi Krys

    Congrats on writing your book.

Did you do your research to make sure there is a market for people wanting to buy yoiur book? Provided you have enough interest in the topic you should do well.

Add any links in the book either to your site if/when you have one and to any affiliate products.

To convert it to pdf there are several options. I use doc2pdf - it'll show in a Google search. You simply upload the book in word and it's converted in a matter of minutes.

You can get a cover done for it at a reasonable cost, check out the warriors for hire section or you may get something as a WSO.

Write your sales copy and decide how you are going to accept payment and deliver the book.

    Hope that helps.

    Good luck

    Mary

      Thanks for the responses!

FB - i'll check out the service providers, what is a fair rate for having a mini site built?

Milburn - i'll try elance too, thanks.

I'd rather not give it away for free.

Mary - thanks! lots to think about. I didn't research the niche, but I have a blog and everyone there begged me to make a how-to guide for them to do what I do so I figured there's a market. Thanks for doc2pdf info!

I've got a lot of work to do. SO GLAD I found this site. You all are super helpful.

You have a couple of options here - depending on how quickly you want to go.

Your book can be used as leverage for a JV with someone, depending on the niche.

Do you have some reviews and feedback? If someone likes it enough, you may be able to work a deal where they get the mechanics in place for you as well as toss your book to their list.

Your other choice is to go the long route and do it on your own - but as you've stated you are not so technical (yet ) so you really would want to find something that provides you with step by step instruction to get the thing up and going.

As others have suggested, you'd be wise to get some feedback and research to be sure there is demand for your information.

If all looks good, and you are looking to do this free and on your own you are still going to want to invest in a domain and hosting. You can set it up on your own to sell via paypal without even involving clickbank. BTW, there is ejunkie, paydotcom, and other services to consider.

This would be my route if I were in your shoes - assuming there is demand for the information:

      Relative keyword research
      purchase domain based on results
      purchase hosting
      autoinstall a wordpress blog
create a sales page for the product
begin blogging, work on optimizing the blog and networking it
offer aweber sign-up for free report to capture leads who may want whole book
Run WSO if it is of interest to this forum
Sell individually on my own, and take to clickbank or one of the others listed above if there looked like affiliate interest.

Of course there are a lot of little details missing in there, but keep hunting around this forum and you'll find a lot of what you are missing.

Ps, you may want to check out the free video in my sig that will show you where you might find some of the resources you will need

You could sell your ebooks on the following sites right away:

Not saying this is the best way but certainly an option for you to consider.

        (sorry can't post links yet)

        - tradebit.com (excellent! - I made several $100s on this site)
        - bubdee.com (haven't tested this one)
        - binarystuff.com (haven't tested)
        - Lulu.com (digital market place & POD(print on demand)
        - e-junkie.com (one of the best)
        - clickbank.com (everyone knows this one)
        - payloadz.com (I do not have good experiences with them, but you can try if you want)
        - home.plimus.com/ecommerce/
        - selldownloadseasy.com
        - tradesbit.com (not tested yet)

If you want to get on Amazon.com with your book I'd surely consider to visit Lightningsource.com. From Lightningsource.com your ebook will be spread to multliple online vendors and is certainly the best tip I can give you right now.

    Hi Krys

Glad you found some of the suggestions helpful.

As you didn't research the niche that should be your first step before spending any money on the next stages.

I once wrote a book because a few people had asked for the info but it turned out that they were about the only ones looking for it.

I also wrote some articles for someone who had asked. I think I sold about 2-3 packs and just about broke even with my WSO fees.

Each of those took a lot of hard work and time - it's one way to learn fast about researching the market before doing anything else as it's so disappointing when things don't go according to plan.
