    Hello,

Stop paying for SEO, first off,

You only pay this type of money, on a site that has proof that it will rank, and is a proven niche.
the proof comes from Google planner.

If your site is a affiliate site , and is setup like the ones on Flippa that sell for $197.00 , well these sites do not convert, I would have to see the url, to be sure,

Be very careful, now this is a huge competitive market, so you know that, I have seen this type of website before, and they do not convert at all, if it is what I think it is.

I have had many customers ask me about , https://affiliates.hotelscombined.com/ no affiliate,

This affiliate program never works, that I have seen.

So they changed their niche, and moved on.

    hope this helps

    Thanks Rob.

Hi, Rob, First of all thanks for your advice, I agree with you it's a competitive market, we agree that we need a niche, what niche do you re commend for us to focus on ? We offer crusie hotel flight car rental etc

to give you a bit of background, we are 2 IT professionals with 12+ years of experience each. We come from back end system engineering and have long term commitment to make this work. We are dedicating next 5 - 10 years to this project. So long term we will have 5-10 digital marketers in house working with us, we knew from the start that there will be obstacles like this and we are ready to patiently overcome those.

We will not be affiliate for ever, we will stop affiliate and use similar software to hotelscombined and or build metasearch engine similar to skyscanner.com but this is medium / long term plan. And we are still working on this plan ! there is lots of learning for us !! even though we have strong software skills we are new to travel industry and digital marketing so many learning curves for us. for now we are at early stage and we are 2 affiliate guys

Next week We will publish a whitelabel mobile app. as you can see we are working on plan to grow all channels and not expecting overnight profit. We have plan to offer multilingual platform and working on long term strategy to differentiate our self and not wishing to compete directly with the competitors unless if necessary.

I tried Facebook ads the other day and managed to achieve 2 sales in first 48 hours. this was our first sale online and a big milestone for us . Now we are working on first 10, and first 100 orders. we think this is one of hardest phase of the project !

luckily we have products , flights, hotels, cruise form almost every country ! this is very powerful, and market is huge. So maybe in the global market is will be easier to focus on certain audiences and countries/ cities? For the initial conversion ? but how do I know which city / country is less competitive and can have better conversion ? who do I target ? and how do i find the answer to this question ?

we already have some cheaper flights than competitors. And our site is free to use so as long as we can get it infront of right audience / travellers then I'm sure there be some orders flying through.

On these basic what advise do you give to us to achieve first 100 sales ?

    Hello,
Ok I read your post, now you say you are 2 IT professionals with 12+ years of experience and have 5-10 digital marketers in house working with you,

Well you still need to know this business for it to work, but you say you have a team of
10 digital marketers , if they know there stuff then you can try to get this business off the ground.

But this niche has major competition, so I am confused on this, for advice

    Thanks Rob

      Hello,

Sorry ok what do you mean, you have products like flights, ok I read it in slow, so this still will be tough, I don't like to tell anybody it's going to be easy if I think your competing with the largest companies on the web,

So here we go with my thoughts,

Since you are trying to do a build out like the pros, you have to do the same marketing they do, major print, TV and SEO, social paid ads, and so on,

But the reason why many people fail on marketing is because they don't have the funnel set up right,
now I would need to see this url and then go from there.

Sounds like to me your are trying to go big time, well you can, if you have what it takes,

I also built one site that took off in my life time, and till this day, I look back and say, I am glad I never gave up,

But all that being said, I always tell my customers, new ones, when they ask for advice on a new niche, not to pick something that is hard to rank, and so on, that is the only reason I watch for this, but if you want it, go for it.

      Thanks Rob.

I would say to keep it as simple as possible when it comes to your SEO man.

Have you done a complete deep crawl of your domain to address any and all on page issues? Or are you simply paying someone to do SEO and build a bunch of RANDOM backlinks?

Do a deep crawl of your site.
    Build niche relevant backlinks
    Build high authority backlinks
Build a small web 2.0 pbn about your niche
and if its super competitive build a true private blog network or buy the links

By 'hotel flight affiliate website' you mean you have a site that will sell hotel room space and flights?

Are you competing over the entire country?

Seems to me that you would want to be participating (ads or posts) on forums for travelers to the places where you have hotel and flights too.

Seems to me you would want to rank for keywords for those destinations too.

Seems to me you might want to buy ad space on online/offline vacation magazines.

Are any of the flights to places schools send kids too? Some schools send, year in and year out, a bunch of kids to Washington DC. They use companies like worldstrides.com. World Strides does other destinations too. You might want to partner with World Stride (they arrange the flights and hotel). A mid-size middle school sends some 80 students on one of those trips. (I am talking US, by the way.)

There are other tour organizer companies. If I understood what you're doing correctly, I'd be contacting a bunch of them and setting up some kind of partnership.

    cKowalewicz,

I head up the programs at SmarterTravel, which is a TripAdvisor company and would be happy to help you monetize your site. Our business model is based on travel comparison search for flights, hotels, car rental, cruise and vacation.

Also, some of my advice is while travel is a competitive space there is no need to compete with the giants in terms of marketing. If you are successful at paid search or other forms of driving traffic to your site and you partner with the right partner to convert that traffic you can be successful and build a nice business.

If you are interested in talking please private message me and I would be happy to review your site and see if there is a potential partnership opportunity.

    Thanks!
    -Jeff
