Hey All,

I have been so happy with the support and feedback from this community so thank you for that.

I am looking for a mentor for internet marketing but don't really know how to find one (or one of quality for that matter) to emulate their success.

Anyone have any suggestions or how to go about this?

-Ben

Well, that depends. What's your budget?

    Ben,

These would be some of my criteria:

    1. Multiple positive testimonials from students that are on their own now and making money because of what they learned.
    2. The mentor would have to have experience and profitability in the same business model that I was interested in (e-commerce, affiliate sales, product development/sales, blogging, etc) It would also be helpful if the mentor had experience in your niche or marketplace. Ask for proof of performance (as much as possible) so you can verify success.
    3. The mentor would be approachable when needed, not next week or next month.
    4. Limited other students/clients - you don't want to be one of 100 other clients the mentor is "personally holding by the hand" - all vying for attention and help right now.
    5. The mentor needs to be able to give you "tough love" if needed - you don't want someone that tells you only what you want to hear.
    6. Make sure you can work well together - you don't want a mentor that you can't get along with and enjoy your time working together.
    7. Lay out all expectations and deliverables (both sides) in writing in advance. "Surprises are usually not a good thing."

    Good luck to you,

What exactly do you want to learn? Internet marketing is very vague, the more specific the better.

    Hi Ben,

I'd get to know some folks here by the value they provide, then I'd take it offsite and check out their blogs or business sites.

Get a feel for their vibe. They may know their stuff, but do you resonate with them? Some will have glowing testimonials, others will just feel right. Hire the ones that feels right. Even if they do not have tons of endorsements. Because endorsements can be doctored, anyway, LOL.

If they know their stuff through the free content they share, and they are heart-centered, generous and flat out helpful, hire them.

What do you want to sell online? Digital products (such as ebooks), affiliate products, tangible items, etc? How much are you willing to pay for a mentor?
