Value of a email list

Hi there,

I am closing down a business and I have got about 600,000 of customer contacts who have purchased from me.. I am retiring and I would like to monetize this for a passive income. I have customers consent to contact them about offers and such. So I think there will not be any privacy related issues.

My business was in cosmetics. Any idea on profits? Value?

Thanks!
Dave

If it were me, I would start by contacting some reputable list brokers. Their whole business is built around matching lists to mailers/emailers.

They will also be able to tell you how much you might get per list rental (not sale). This will vary by how much data is available for creating 'splits', such as date of joining list, date of most recent purchase, number of purchases, etc. Geographic/demographic info may also be requested.

The more specific (targeted) the split, the higher the rental fee per thousand addresses.

    Dave,

I would simply caution you to carefully review the terms under which people on your list got there. Your business most likely had a set of privacy policies and standard "terms and conditions." I would suggest you review those and make sure you are on solid ground if you allow others to rent your list. Many businesses have policies that say they will not sell, rent, or share their lists with others, etc.

So just be sure that whatever you decide to do with your list adheres to the policies and terms your business had in place when people gave you their contact information.

    The best to you,

    Steve

So true, if I was on this guys list I would want my email to be sold to someone. This is how so many spam emails end up in ones inbox.
