Question about wordpress site structure

Hi all,

I run a little site, for a group of professional colleagues. The site has a dedicated page for each person, say a page entitled "Joe Smith" where you find his biography. Then, the posts in the blog are typically latest news e.g. "New book by Joe Smith". So Joe has one page, and several blog posts about him.

It's a site structure I inherited. I took over the management of the site.

I want google to send more searchers to Joe Smith.
How can I (1) ideally structure the site better, or (2) link the the page about Joe Smith to the blog posts about Joe Smith?

It's a small site, so I don't mind having to do a bit of work.

I hope I've made myself reasonably clear. Thanks for your ideas.

Tom

If I get it right, then you should assign your "Users" the role of "Contributor" through the Wordpress Dashboard. This way every contributor will have his page and his posts will appear on this page.

A link to your site might help me more understand what you are looking for.

The structure of your website is fine. To increase the visitors, consecutively update the blogs of every person on your site. Share these blog posts socially and also, focus on off-page optimization of your website. Visitors will be increased.

    Thanks for your replies.

Markhimeb, that sounds like an idea. Is there another way of doing it without going the contributor route.

    Thanks,

    Tom

What is your keyword here? Is Joe Smith a popular name which drives searches or you want to link to Joe's blogs? I Can't clearly make out what do you want in specific.

Yes the Password is "Joe Smith".

When I took over the management of the site, the information about Joe Smith was on his dedicated Page, and lots more information about Joe was spread around blog posts.

Joe is wondering how the info about him that is in blog posts can be more easily found on the site, or associated with his page. Can the blog posts be linked to his dedicated page? etc.

    Many thanks,
    Tom

Have you tried other themes? Some themes may display in a way that is better than what you have now.

Also, I suggest using Yoast SEO Pro, for your plugin. It will help in a number of ways, including internal linking.

Are the people already writers on the blog? IF not make them one.

Also, if you're looking for link jiuce through internal linking then I think a silo structure would be useful for you.

It'll go, John smith page -> John Smith article -> John Smith article -> John Smith article -> John Smith article -> John smith page

That should keep a lot of link juice on your site. It may not be the best for user experience.

Another way to do it is to link The John smith articles to each other and also make sure all of them link back to the John Smith page. That'll signal To the Search engine that the John Smith Page is an importnat one.

    www.domainname.com/joe-smith
    www.domainname.com/joe-smith/article-1
    www.domainname.com/joesmith/article-2

And like article 2 to article 1, article 1 to /joe-smith.

Look up Silo structure for SEO on google or here (if here, Yukon posted well and in detail about this several times).
