Yes, giving a free gift can attract people to your product or web site and increase your prospect/customer engagement. However, the free gift should be targeted to the audience you are serving, it should be unique and original (that adds scarcity), and most importantly, it should be valuable and relevant to your product and business.

        Absolutely.

If a freebie is worth more than the original offer, any sane person will ask themselves what the person making the offer isn't telling them.

The free gift is very useful for attracting leads: they are essential and have to be valuable, so people give their email address in exchange

The sales are mostly made in the backend

Yes! you're absolutely right but I'm not looking for the email address in exchange to gift the product. I just want to reduce the abandoned cart. So, I want to offer customers free gifts on the check out page so that the customers will be encouraged to complete their further check out process. But, for this, I've no idea about what to do. If anyone has suggestion please reply.

This is the first time you've mentioned cart abandonment as the issue.

I would say that getting the "surprise bonus" offer right could reduce abandonment. It might also increase your cost of fulfillment on orders that would have gone through anyway.

Not sure how it was done, but I ran across one site that had one of those 'exit intent' scripts running on the checkout page. When I went to close the page, I got a popup that offered me free shipping if I completed the order.

Something like that might work for you.

Free gifts and bonuses work great. They increase conversion rate on the initial opt-in, and also when offering them as a bonus for your main offer. It's a great incentive to get people to sign up. You can create them yourself, license them, or outsource and have them created for you.

I'm going to add something to pot here...

Selecting the right premium (gift, freebie, whatever) will do two things for you. Not only will it entice people to engage with you (usually with an opt-in to a list), but it will help filter out the wrong people.

For example, if you offer a free guide to the best pickup bars in [City], you'll get interest from people looking to get lucky in bars, and discourage family birthday parties.

When your costs for email service depend on list size, and your deliverability depends on engagement, filtering out the freebie hunters, tire kickers and other time and resource wasters can be important, too.

This is off topic but you reminded me of a story, John. For many years I worked as a children's entertainer doing magic shows for birthday parties and libraries.

One year the yellow pages salesman messed up and listed me, "Ramblin' Rose" under Adult Entertainers instead of Children's.

Needless to say I got calls all year. Mostly late at night and from the Econo Lodge. One from the state hospital asking me to visit and bring my "witch stuff". I didn't visit either place.

Targeting the right audience is everything! lol

And yes, giving a free gift is still a good way to build an audience.

        Now for OP...

The free gift is just the beginning to get them into your world.

Freebies really do attract people. No matter how small or insignificant the gift is, people will flock to it because it is free. The concept of something being given away for free to increase sales has been going on for ages. Time and time again it has proven to be a good way to get exposure for the products that people are selling. Sometimes people just get it for free and doesn't come back while other times you're hauling in a customer that's going to be with you for a long time.

Yes, they do help. But don't overlook that you will also need to promote your free offer.

Yes it does. Seen a few of them on blog sites. They call it giveaways. It kinda attracts people, but they're only there for the gift if your content isn't backed up with quality content. You can also try doing influencer marketing along with the giveaway. That way you reach more audience and results. Phlanx is a notable platform to connect with business and influencers.
