Freaky movie, need your help, see THIS!

Hi all :-)

I bought myself a Vado HD video camera and since technology is NOT my strong side, I'm asking for your help. I've searched for HOURS on google to solve my problem, to no avail.

I'd like to be able to edit my clips in Microsoft Movie Maker and make a more advanced movie out of it. I run my Vado and copy the shots that I want, then I upload them to MMM and they are all black ? Black as in seeing NOTHING .

I have a friend that has absolutely horrible teeth (and under-statement to say the least, lol). He does not have the money to pay for dentures and he is risking a stroke if they are not removed.

I was going to help him (I hope) by doing some freaky videos on youtube and make them a commercial for a dentist. All in exchange for him getting a new set of pearly whites (and maybe expand into other areas as well).

If you can give a detailed explanation on how to combine the Vado and using MMM, once our first freaky video is created, I will post it here (not for the faint of heart) .

His teeth are soooooo bad, I'm expecting this to go viral.

Thank you all in advance, Eva

I haven't used MMM, but some thoughts come to mind...

Are you sure the video camera is working - can you playback on the camera?

Could that camera be saving in some proprietary file format that MMM can't read?

I just bought the Kodak Zi8 and it saves the video files in a format MMM can't read!

Did the camera come with its own video software that could be used to convert the files to something MMM likes? (like mpeg2 or mpeg4 - 4 is pretty compressed and noisy)

Can you see the files on your computer and play them with some other software?

There is a software called AVS I think their site is something like avs4you, and they have a free download - the free trial saves the files in an unsable format with a large watermark in the center. But you can see if you can at least play the videos.

Corel makes a video software called Video Studio (normally about $99) and I found it on Amazon for $39. Corel might even have a free trial version at their own website.

The problem may be MMM. It seems really limited.

    Hi Eva

According to what I just read about your camera on Amazon it should be able to output video in AVI format, which is recognized by Windows Movie Maker. Perhaps that will work?

If your output is not in AVI Format which is recognized by MMM, then you must convert it to AVI first. To do it, just use free video converter software that you can download over the internet. After you converted it, just open it with MMM. But, honestly, I don't like using MMM lol

Because if your gums are infected, that stuff runs through your blood stream. You are constantly attacked by it 24/7.

Hi, to share with you all

AVI is merely a file extension, however a lot of different codecs can be contained in AVI file extension.

Take AVI as a water container, any liquid can be stored inside this container, but the question is if the water is drinkable by us, human (the player or MMM)

If you mention H.264, it is a HD format which i think MMM does not have the capacity to play it even though the file extension is AVI

Hence now, there are 3 possible solution for you

    1) Check your recording format, Set to a lower setting, they will use the lower end codecs to encode the video. your file extension should still be an AVI, but this time, it should be able to be played in MMM

    2) Convert the video. Google for a h264 converter to mpeg4 (mpeg4 is different from mpg extensoin). In layman terms, downgrade the video.

    3) I believe that vado will provide a software video player to play the files you took with the camcorder. use the player to play the h264 files and at the same time, get another video program to "record" that video and save the output file and upload it

More info, DVD-Guides.com - H.264 FAQ & Basic Conversion Guide

just google, i found the above link useful. And in case all the IM'ers are wandering.. it is not my site. it the first link i found using "h 264 converter"

    hope this helps
