My First $100 Day... And Now I Need HELP!

Sorry for the vague title. I recently took up the advice pressed upon me so many times, "Choose one thing and stick with it!" and about a month and a half ago began my first campaign.

Right now I have 30 articles + a lander I am trying to get ranked each for a different keyword. I had my first $100 day the other day but it's very inconsistent and I'm still seeing plenty of zeros.

I recently purchased both paul and angela's packets and am in the process of adding all 80 of them to each of my articles this month. It's time consuming but I hope it helps me get ranked. All of my keywords, according to micro niche finder, should be obtainable as far as first page rankings go. But I'm having a hell of a time actually getting my articles there.

Perhaps I just need more patients? I was going to ad novembers links to these as well and then start on a new campaign but I really want these articles to be ranked because when they do get seen, my conversion rate has been great.

Can anyone offer advice or input on how long it might take to get indexed where I want, if these packets will help me etc? I am a hard worker and will continue to pursue IM until it works but when you have a $70 day, a $100 day, another $70 day and then a week of zeros, it's hard to know when your rankings will settle and what's actually working.

Any input is MUCH appreciated!

- Brandon

I haven't had a $100 day yet, but I've made a handful of clickbank sales since september, so maybe I can help a little.

I haven't been submitting articles daily (as I know I should!), but what I've noticed is that most of my sales seem to come when I submit a few articles at once to ezine.

This leads me to believe that being on the "recently submitted" list is a HUGE help...the time you get on there is brief in most categories, but for that time it gets you a lot of exposure.

I used to think keyword research wasn't that hard, until I found out I was doing it all wrong by using "broad" rather than "exact" match type in the google keyword tool.

I realized that huge list of keywords I spent days building up was complete and utter crap and a waste of time once I saw their "true" searches. I was quite pissed to put it mildly lol

After that I just sorta forgot about keyword research altogether, I guess I'm sorta jaded from that bad experience.

But the funny thing is, once I forgot about keywords and started just throwing articles out there is when I got my first sales!

So my plan now is just to submit articles everyday, the more the better. I'm going to shoot for 10 a day, we'll see how it goes, maybe you can try it out yourself.....everyone I've read about here that submits that many each day seems to be doing pretty well.

    Good luck!

      Hi, Jon
I am new and was reading your thread and could not help this quote I saved. Could you tell me what the difference between "broad" and "exact" in keyword research?? I do a lot of keyword research as everyone else does, but if there is a better way I would be really interested in it. Thank You, Cindi

When you search in the google keyword tool, there is a drop down list to choose "match type", and the options are "broad", "phrase", "exact", and "negative".

When you choose "exact", you're getting the number of searches where people put that exact phrase in.

If you choose "broad", basically you're getting search results for not only the exact keyword phrase you're searching for, but related searches as well...so the results are somewhat skewed, since when you do the research you are generally only interested in how many searches are being done for the exact keyword phrase you enter in.

Hope I made sense here, lol good luck!

Yes, I just discovered that I was using the "Broad" match rather than "Exact"! Makes a huge difference; I wondered why I wasn't getting any traffic. I have to say that my other main problem is finding out how to monetize a site, because while it may be easy to rank for a high traffic keyword (is 10000/month Exact considered high traffic?), how do you monetize that traffic?

Lots of physical items are sold on Amazon already, so how does one make money with physical products? Thats my dilemma right now.

The links can help you, and you can outsource 80 of them for $9 or less, so it would be $270 to promote 30 articles. This is calculated at $1.50 per hour, and 6 hours work per 80 sites. Total work hours: 180. Wanna do it yourself? Whatever you say. Outsource? Use oDesk.

One thing I would recommend, since you're basically doing the same 80 sites over and over for this month, is to buy Brute Force Linking Loophole; it submits to about 60-70 Paul/Angela sites on autopilot pretty much.
It even fills in CAPTCHAs. An average run takes just over 2 hours, so you can promote 3-4 a day at least (you just need to be around to confirm emails).

This will save you 90% of the cost we figured out earlier.

I use it to promote posts on Yahoo! Answers, and just one run will ensure that my question gets to page 1 and stays there, even though other questions are asked with my keyword all the time. The one with the most backlinks seems to stay on top, even after many weeks.

Hi Jon. I also wasted my first three months in IM relying on the broad match due to bad advice.

I remember gleefully giggling at the money that would roll in after getting the #1 spot for a term searched 30,000 times in a month.

Exact search stats? 1,300 a month.

REAL search stats (by doing an Adwords test LAST WEEK [I've stopped that campaign, but was curious to see why I got off to such a bad start]): 13 a day, or just over 400 a month.

I wasted three months, but did learn a lot. It's good to get the failures out of the way.

Remember the backlinks you add today might not have any impact on the SERPS for a month or two, depending on how often Google spiders each site you post a link from, as well as the type of crawl it does.

I'm sure you know SEO doesn't happen overnight but I think you're doing the right thing. Best of luck to ya

    HI branlan,

It seem rumored that the owner of authority sites on angela/paul backling packet is checking and banned each new account

Due the issue of the link spamming on every new account, perhaps you should contribute first a little on their site so the owners will not suspicious about you, then you back again and give your anchor link on your profile page..

    Hope it will help you,

    Cheers,
    Vaan

You want to use exact match because broad includes similar phrases that a page ranking for the main keyword might not actually get ranked for. I actually did this too for a couple of weeks before realizing my terms were going to get me virtually no traffic.

Yeah you are right, The benefits of exact match is that we know visitor mind ( or in this case what they are looking for when they type those keyword)

ie. "weight loss" keyword, that keyword still to broad and we can't predict what the visitor from that keyword is search for? maybe they just search for information, maybe they search for weight loss product? or maybe they just playing around

But if we make that keyword into spesific term, we can see what their wants...

ie. "best weight loss products" keyword, that keyword is very exact and you see, they must bee looking for the best product on weight loss when they type that keyword phrase...

So in order to get targeted traffic to your site, you must search for exact keyword phrase,

Research your keyword and begin dominating google...

      cheers,

yes of course, add that keyword too..

But I suggest don't pick weight loss niche, It's very competitive niche..
Try to figure out other niche with less competitor, There is a lot of money to be made

You can find if the keywords profitable or not by type it on google, and see if any peoples advertise on that keywords, if there i pleny of it, sure peoples have made serious money from that keywords

To me it seems your heading in the right direction. As mentioned before, SEO takes time, give Google and Co time to trawl the sites your linked from and your articles will soon be ranking if you have researched your keywords correctly.

Another way of getting your articles ranked is to use social media sites too encourage people to bookmark your articles on social bookmarking websites. This would be a huge boost to your SEO efforts but is very time consuming and can be abit hit and miss, depending on your niche.

Yeah my plan of action right now is to add all of the 80 links per month (for this month and next month, so with the sites that go away prolly about 120 total links). After that I'm going to work a new campaign but outsource social bookmarking of those articles to gain additional backlinks from a different source.

The niche I'm in is very competitive and perhaps I should have stayed away but even with VERY low traffic (an average of 15-30 page visits per day) I'm somehow about to breach $500 for the month so I KNOW there is money to be made and my page converts... just have to crack it wide open!
