How to Handle Early Signup Bonus

If you're promoting something that includes a significant bonus for the first XX people who sign up, once that threshold has passed, is it better to delete all references to the early signup bonus or to leave them there but cross them out?

Normally I would just delete reference to the bonus, but press releases and some promotions from affiliates might contain a reference to the bonus. If someone reads about and gets motivated about a bonus and then goes to check it out, wouldn't it be better to have the bonus there but crossed out than not there?

Hoping that some people can answer this from the customer's point of view and others from what they've done in a similar situation.

Thanks so much,

I like this option. As a buyer I get to know that the bonus was offered at certain point of time and I am late to get it ...
