I think it's great to have more mods, especially if they're well-known. I know most of them and believe they will do a fantastic job. Congrats!

Not sure, why I have access to this? Did I get called into the principles office my first day back in the forum?

It's a 'sticky' post in the main forum section - everyone has access to it.

Having served as a moderator for 4 1/2 years when Allen owned the forum, and when the membership was MUCH small, I know that being a mod is not an easy job. So, I welcome and THANK the new moderators.

Why are these folks not made to identify themselves in their avatar section as mods? Are they not proud of their status? Isn't transparency something that should be expected from our community members?

    Are these NOT legitimate questions?

If you think 'mod status' is something to be proud of - probably shouldn't be a mod. It's a rather thankless task at times.

When you wear a label on every post it's difficult to participate in discussions. A list of names in this thread and at the bottom of the sections is transparent. Managing member expectations is above my volunteer pay grade...

You knew I'd say that, didn't you?

Before the Interweb I used to clean toilets for a living. Being a mod is a bit like that, but with more shit to deal with.

Why not? It shows that someone presumes that your actions will be fair. That shows a certain amount of trust, which is always something to me proud of.

When you wear a label on every post it's difficult to participate in discussions.
I don't see why? Knowing that you're a mod does not alter how I view your participation in any thread, in the least.

Actually, my questions were meant for those one level or more above your pay grade. They should be the ones suggesting, if not requesting that all mods be transparently identified, and not just in a sticky. Who reads those??? lol I only read it because it caught me eye and quite honestly, was a bit surprised by some of the choices. Until you mentioned it, I have never noticed the list at the bottom of the sections. I'm generally a fairly observant fellow, but that went right by me. lol

OK. You have a point. I don't surrender, readily, but you got me on this one. I will 'partially' revamp my stance until I can come up with some other way to annoy you. Not, today, though. It's Sunday. I don't work on Sundays.

You knew I'd say that, didn't you?
      Yeah. Kinda. :-)

      Cheers!

Phew! It is good to know who the real mods are. At least now you can reach out to them when someone deletes your post or comments.

    I have a question though.

Is anyone allowed to delete your comments or posts?

It has happened to me. That my comments were deleted by someone not listed as a Mod here. Also, the person deleted my comment. But then put his own comment which was more of an harrasment where other people (I call trolls) joined that thread just to talk about the comments.
